“it be hard to find reasonable GOOD tacos !!! & this place has it ! Reasonable deal for 2 tacos & they were good ! I had the chicken and steak ! they were on point ! Angie the cashier sold us baby!! she said they were better than the place across the street and that we’d be coming back !!! lol, and I promise I would most definitely be back ! It was clean, the music is a vibe ! And we barely had to wait ! tacos wasn’t dry or old ! Good tacos always win“
“At Jimmy's they appreciate their customers you are greeted with an appropriate good day ma'am or sir how may I help you they have music playing so the atmosphere is very nice and they have very good food give them a try I give them five stars and two thumbs “
“BEST TORTILLAS EVER!!! I can't get over the fact that the tortillas were fresh and homemade. Both servers were very kind and helped at any chance they could. When you eat here expect to feel at home! The whole vibe gives off family meals at your tias house.“
“I loved the food, the service, the waiter was very nice and attentive. I recommend to anyone their green salsa is immaculate it's sooooo good it's not spicy but if you like spice they have the red salsa.I absolutely loved the food, the service, the waitress was very friendly and attentive. I recommend it to anyone whose green sauce is delicious. It's not spicy, but if you like it spicy, they have the red one too.“
“Definitely recommend that everyone check this place out. Everything we've tried here has been amazing. The ice cream is just heavenly. It's made in house. The people are so kind, polite and friendly. Five stars across the board.“
“The restaurant is very clean. Very nice staff, very attentive. I ordered tacos de canasta, and they were delicious. The quesadillas de maza are delicious ?. My husband ordered coctel de camarones, and it was very, very good. I will recommend ? everyone to come and try their delicious food. They have late hours. Plus, each day they have the special of the day come and check it out.“
“Food is sooooo good!!! And i do mean good, the ppl are great! I gave the 4 stars on atmosphere ONLY because of the size of the location. It's pretty small in the inside and my family is HUGE we can never go all together. But seriously best birria I've ever had.“
“First timer as of yesterday . Food was really good I had the 3 meat fajita bowl (dine-in) food was cooked to order. Fresh and hot when served. The cook and cashier were polite and friendly. Dont get that anymore from other restaurants .The place was nice and clean really don't see that at most places . Will come back to try other items on the menu and will tell everyone when in town .Small family business ready to grow it's 2024 people prices are going up stop being cheap when you order out. Bet you don't even tip. All they need to do is get a bigger sign outside for drivers to see from afar.“
“The food and Atmosphere is great!!! However the service is terrible your guaranteed to wait 20mins just to get service and this is early in the day when it’s not busy and this has happen on more than one occasion I’m writing this review in hopes the service change I love supporting black owned businesses but we need to do better!“
“Food is delicious, I recommend 100%Had a fantastic dining experience. The food was delicious, and the service was top-notch. Would definitely go back for more! Definitely try it if you are around won’t be disappointed. Also try their hot champurrado! My favorite.“

“This taco truck did not miss! We both ordered tacos 2 different types and the flavor was there for both. I was delighted by the filling for the veggie tacos: beans, rice, lettuce, pico, sour cream, cheese and avocado. So delicious I really appreciated the freshness of the veggies. My co worker had steak tacos and a chicken quesadilla. I’ve never seen a more meat filled quesadilla. He said it had excellent flavor. We both are visitors at Ford and typically don’t have time to eat. Seeing the taco truck and learning of its popularity we were so happy to try it. This truck is well worth it, what you get for the price is flavor and value.“
“I lived near a couple blocks from here for years and never stopped by. I finally did today and I wish I had done it years ago.I ordered a large plate of birria and it was delicious. Came with some tortillas and crunchy tostada which is a nice touch, limes and 2 salsas on the side. The green salsa was good but not spicy, the red one however has a good kick and made the food better. I ordered a large container to go. Definitely coming back“
“Easy quick and delicious. It's something about a place that has perfected their dish and this birria is perfect. I'm a fan of a restaurant that smells hit you before walking in the door. We were greeted with delicious meat seasoning and cilantro. The team behind the counter were friendly and kind with my limited hearing and accent understanding...lol. I ordered 4 quesabirria tacos and a beef cheek taco?. Everything was plentiful and delicious. We were stuffed after the tacos and can't wait to go back. The meat was very tender and pulled directly from the bone when ordering.“
“So mad I forgot to take pics because I was excited to see my friend and catch up. But the food was ok. The service was great. They were nice talkative and genuinely enjoyed the conversation with them. Again, I hate that I forgot pics because the decorations were so festive and authentic. It was colorful and vibrant. It was cold outside but the decor made you feel like you were on an island ? vacation. So cute ?? ?The food hmmmm...I had the 3 taco ? special/ a drink. I got shrimp tacos with cheese and sour cream. Very nice looking but too salty. I was like my goodness ? couldn't finish them because of this. But the French fries were good. My friend liked her steak tacos. 6/10Parking: There's free street parking in front of the restaurant“
“Seems to be slowly going downhill. The service was always kind slow but now it's just awful. They started charging for extra chips and salsa but that kinda doesn't matter because even if you say that's OK and ask for them 3 times, they'll never bring any. The food used to be consistently outstanding now it varies between ok and pretty good. It used to take about a half hour to get your food, now its 45+ min even when they're fairly slow.“
“First time there and babyyyyyy, it was fire! If you want homemade delicious food come here. Don’t waste your money on ihop??! Kids menu it’s all gf the chain. My daughter don’t eat but she ate the whole entire plate. I love they had different meat options cause I don’t eat pork! We ate breakfast, but we will be back for fish fry Fridays.“
“Very, very good solid food with flavorful rice and beans that do not taste from a can. Outstanding hardshell tacos and delicious enchiladas with well seasoned beef. Not too sweet horchata but just right taste and cold beer. My father loved it and had good things to say about their coffee. Very polite on phone order placing and courteous staff. There is definitely something on the menu for everyone. Nice decor and has authentic vibes throughout.“
“Excellent service and food! We stopped here for lunch and both had enchiladas, which were delicious. The salsa was flavorful and spicy and chips were also very good. We even got some to go. Our server was great. We definitely recommend Casa Lupita’s.“
“First time here, and I will definitely be going back!! Best breakfast meal I've had since I left Texas!! I ordered Mexican coke, and chilaquiles verdes and it was served with rice and beans, crema y queso blanco! Scrumptiously delicious ?! My friend ordered the Chicken Torta and limon Jarritos, he said it hit the spot! The red salsa has the perfect kick if you like spice and the green is good if you don't. Can't wait to try other menu items!“
“The Birrierias were small yet yummy! At the time of my visit they didn’t sell extra toppings like hot peppers, and avocado slices, etc. If they did this would knock their food off the chart! The restaurant is small and my server was nice.I feel they’re a small business that has the potential to really expand into a huge business!Parking: Limited parking spaces.“
“Legit one of the best tortas I had in a while, they have specials during the week so I was here on a Wednesday and got the Torta and drink for under $7bucks good deal friendly staff and my order was done fast. Small family own join so a must visit in you in town“
“First tried a few years ago and loved it. I couldn't remember the name and drove by there today. I had 2 steak tacos. So damn good wanted to go back for more. Tasted very fresh, steak was perfect! Owner is very attentive, patient and nice. No sign outside. May go back this weekend.“
“My friends and I love this taco place! The food is absolutely amazing, everything from the tacos to the desserts! It’s a plus that the owner and cook is always pleasant and in good spirits! I pray that nothing but good comes to your business, so many are missing out!“
“I had a Cheesy order of Birrira and Chicken tacos and Flako fries. Food is delicious and flavorful. Very friendly service. Unfortunately at the moment, there is some road work in front of the business that may make parking difficult. But that shouldn't stop you from trying it!“
“I recently went to Richway Gyros after having a terrible experience at another hotdog place down the road in Chicago. So glad I found this place. The food is delicious and the customer service is awesome! Kudos to the staff. They know how to treat customers with respect! The prices are reasonable. What’s even better is that the offer a rewards program. I will definitely be back!“
“I've only had the Chilaquiles verdes, Cecina, and coffee, but they are exceptionally good. I would say the Chilaquiles verdes are in the top 5 of all of Chicago. Their beans are really good. Rice is pretty good, too. Great service, very clean restrooms. They take credit cards now. My grandson has the crispy potato tacos here and loves them. The kids' chicken tenders are an enormous serving size.Kid-friendliness: They are really kind and patient with the little ones and have a kid friendly menu.Parking: Lots of free parking.“
“First let me say when arriving, you can smell the food from outside! Walking through the door you meet with plenty of aromas, a relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. The wait time was reasonable price was too. The food overall 8.5 out of ten. I had the salmon dinner and I wish they had grilled it but it was still great! Can’t forget the bev, I had the Jamaican juice and it was a hit. 8.5 out of ten must try again“
“Great tasting food everything I tried was delicious will be there again, if you are into seafood this is the place shrimp caldo awsome, the service very attentive price point very fair, I was impressed with how clean it is, I am a new fan of this hidden jewl i. “
“I usually don't leave any type of reviews unless I am personally moved by the establishments. But this little restaurant just personifies the current aged and melancholy sense of the American Dream. People work very hard in order to flourish here in the states. And often times are given the short end of the stick all while still pushing on and doing their very best with what they have.Long story short. We ordered online through a third party and the restaurant had no capability of retrieving the order because they no longer did business with them. They struggled to get anyone in contact who could help so they decided to do the honorable thing and took it upon themselves to cater to our personnel at my workplace to make sure we got what we had paid for even if that meant it came with a potential loss. The employees are kind, thoughtful, and evidently very hard working. Always bustling through, doing whatever they could to help the kitchen. The kitchen staff worked as the heart of this place to fly out orders as soon as possible. You can TELL these hardworking people have a passion in what they do. That it matters to them. I truly hope that they are able to get this issue resolved because otherwise they were a pleasure to do business with. The food was also very and I mean VERY delicious. Give it a try, you will be in good and very capable hands.“
“Man these Tacos and Tortas are the best. Every time I am in the South suburbs I come here to grab some. They are cash only so come with cash. The guy's been working here forever. They just recently repainted and remodeled just a little bit. The food is the same from years ago when I was coming here. I'm glad they're back open“
“As far as Mexican food goes, this place is it. My family gets together here for EVERYTHING... birthdays, baptisms, going away, etc, etc, etc. We take up the back/side room every single time with no complaints from them ever, no matter how loud we get!The food is very good, comes out quickly after ordering, and servers are very attentive. Also, when celebrating a birthday, it doesn't hurt that they have their own panaderia right next door if you're in a jam. And then in the restaurant, they play Las Mañanitas if you're celebrating a birthday there. It's laid back. It's chill. Just no alcohol.“
“Everything we got from here was absolutely delicious. Jalapeno and cream cheese bread was amazing! The flan , churros, and some other goodies were just so good. Highly recommend stopping in for some bites and drinks served there as well by Cielito Lindo Cafe.“
“Looked up reviews for a local place to get Tamales and here we go!! Little corner store with full selections and choices of authentic Mexican products and Freshly made Tamales!! Pork,Chicken,Beans, Nopales Com Queso and more varieties of other stuff!! Freshly made Mexican rice, salsa,guacamole....Yesssssssss!! Quality Fresh Meat's and Fish too....both ready made to cook seasoned types and regular cuts too!! Super deals and Niceeeeeeeee!! Tamales made by hand like Grandma Abuelita and more!!“
“Hands down this is the best place for authentic Mexican food! Would not go anywhere else! The don't hold back on delicious ingredients! They stuff your plate enormous generous servings and delicious! The people are kind service is awesome, food is awesome! Place is spotless and definitely reasonable prices! This is a must go to place!“
“Small place but we really enjoyed being able to sit in front of the kitchen. More of an option in Chicago so big thumbs up there. Steak tacos we're on point. Not dried. Hints of lime and definitely juicy but......... the chorizo tacos stood out over all. Bursting with flavor and cooked perfectly. My wife stated they made her feel like she was back in Mexico. Both tacos were a stand-out at this restaurant. Bottle sauce seemed roasted and gave a nice back to all the tacos we ordered. Highly recommend the Chorizo or Carne Asada for any dish you chose from this dive but dime in Hammond. Al Pastor, and Tripe are solid choices as well. The pork was tender and the tripe was cooked on the plancha until it had the perfect crisp. After posting this saw more reviews aside from my wifes in person but stating "reminds me of Mexico"“
“The service was fast! But most importantly the food is so good! I ate the tacos and the machete! Great portions for the price! The ambiance is good as well! They have the option to put music or you can always suggest a movie and they'll play it!!“
“Been coming here for over 15 years! If you're in the area, I recommend making a stop here. Menudo is good and there's not too many places where it's good; especially in nwi. The girls are quick and focused waiting their tables; it can get really busy!“
“So I'm a big taco lover specially asada and today I tried their asada tacos and all I have to say BEST TACOS IN HAMMOND..yes I have tried them all so with certainty I can highly recommend street shack your go to for asada tacos and that salsa literally FIRE so delicious...I'll be back soon for more.“
“Breakfast dishes are pretty good, Mexican entrees could be better. Big place with lots of room to breathe. Their veggie skillet is very good. It's basically hashbrowns with chopped veggies, but it has an excellent flavor. My grandson insists on us coming here because he loves their chocolate chip mickey mouse pancakes. But he also really likes their chicken tenders. Their fries have great texture, but they taste like they were cooked in bad fry oil. My daughter likes their chilaquiles. I would say they are good, but I've had better. They overcook the bacon till its almost burned ( every time...its weird).“
“I have not been here in 5 yrs no longer in Illinois..small neighborhood store with the beat tamels & carnitas ever and I've had a lot of carnitas..they only have them on Saturday & Sunday but worth the wait..the meat & masa ratio is perfect..the carnitas definitely the bestMessage to the cook..Keep up the good work..I will be back...OH yes like everything else the price has gone up to 8.99 a lb...but my craving was satisfied after 5 years it was worth it??“
“The place isn't fancy - has a "hole in the wall" vibe with only two tables, but the food was fantastic. Their steak was cut super thin which kept it moist and crunchy. I had the taco meal with a steak/chorizo taco, pastor, and a beef tongue and they were all flavorful, perfectly cooked, and delicious. My friend had the chiles relenos and he also commended this dish. The salsa verde was some of the best I've had, and I've traveled in Mexico a fair bit. If you're in the area and want a delicious and affordable meal, this is worth a stop. And the folks there were super nice!“
“The food is always delicious. The people that work there are so sweet and friendly. Right now, the parking is challenging because of the road work surrounding it. Also, it's best to make sure your order is correct. Have them say it back to you because I've had my order wrong a couple of times but they nicely corrected it for me. I do feel we should support them. Their food is delicious.“
“We went on a taco tryout trip and ordered steak and veggie tacos from five different places in the Chicago Heights area. La Fonditas was picked #1 by all 4 people in my group, one of which was a vegetarian. Best taco I have had in YEARS! So good we went back later that night and tried other items in the menu. All of which were just as good. This will definitely be our go to place fir Mexican food.“
“Consistently good food. One of the best queso fundido around. Give it a try with poblano. Good price points. Steak dishes are always good from a burrito to carne asada. Cantador is great if spicy is your thing. Not really a bad dish on the menu. Good selection of tequila and flavors of margaritas. It does get busy at peak times, but worth the wait. A community staple for years.“
“So the food here is well seasoned and everything you'd want but the service is very slow. I can't blame the staff because you can tell they're working hard. I would highly recommend ordering ahead of time so you don't wait. The horchata and gorditas are delicious!“
“I tried Taco Vida for the first time tonight. I thought that I would start out with the basics. I had two beef tacos. They were delicious. The place was clean. Not a long wait. The girl who served me was friendly. I can’t wait to try some of their other food.“
“Oh my goodness. Such a surprise. These are some really good tacos. The steak is chopped small and very low on fat and grizzle. Seasoned perfectly. Al pastor is very good too. The chicken is dark meat I'm not a fan. I get breakfast tacos too. Chorizo and egg on flour. The rice is fluffy and the beans are creamy, they have 3 sauces red green and avocado. The veggies are always fresh never brown and mushy. FRESH FRESH! The customer service can depend on who's at the window. Cooks are always friendly. Food cooked right in front of you, I likes that. They close on Sundays and they not open late enough for me.“
“I have been to this place several times since I've stumbled upon it and overall I am satisfied. I usually order the steak tacos which are very good. Another favorite is the shrimp tacos. I like the elotes, having tried steak and shrimp Elotes for the first time, very impressed, so good. Both the tamales and the enchiladas could have used more salsa. It was flavorful, but did taste a bit dry without enough green salsa. Tried birria for the first time here expecting to be satisfied from my previous encounters and I was a bit disappointed. They were edible, but very thick (not complaining about portion size), and not as flavorful as I had hoped. Got the dinner and was only able to finish 1 taco. The beans that come with the dinners is just horrible to me. Last night it also tasted sour, hard pass on refried beans here. Overall, the food is worth the price, the portions are generous, and the staff is very friendly. I would for sure recommend.“
