“9-3-2023 This is update. For those of you who don't know, Shrimp Express, Bobs Shrimp in Hammond, and Simply Seafood in Merrillville up until recently we're owned by one person (Bob). Bob recently retired and sold all three. Each to 3 separate owners. Bobs used to be my favorite for 30 years. Now with a different owner I tried Jumbo Shrimp at Bobs twice and at Shrimp Express twice. Big difference. Shrimp Express is still serving true Huge Jumbo Shrimp. And on each occasion they were fried perfectly. Great non greasy crust.It's a different story at Bobs. Shrimp are not true jumbos but large shrimp, not nearly as big as the shrimp at Shrimp Express. Additionally on my second trip to Bobs the crust was mushy and oily. And they are more expensive than Shrimp Express.What a difference the owner makes. Congratulations to the new owner at Shrimp Empress, you've got great true jumbo shrimp. You have won my business. And to the new owner of Bobs., you can't fool the long term customers of Bobs. Please get your act together.8-31-2022 visit. Had the Jumbos, which are really large with tons of coating to make them look larger. Still way too much hard very dry coating. Also shrimp tough and stringy,. I'm done wasting $23 bucks on garbage. From now on Im driving to Bobs Shrimp in Hammond.”

“The salsa that they serve with the chips is delicious! Be careful asking for more... they dont tell u it's $2 for the extra chips and 75 cents for each salsa. Oysters and caldo and Camerones empanizados were amazing. Love the bread. The malcajete sauces was super salty. Overall super happy with our food. The waitress was great! Prices are reasonable for seafood.”

“The Cajun catfish nuggets didn't disappoint. They were yummy and fried to a crisp. Get it! Get the mild sauce and they served hot and spicy which makes it a winning combination. I loved the chef because he served it with his blessings. I forget that.”

“Fresh fish and seafood cooked when you order. Very nice and helpful counter lady. Check out their shrimp fry Fridays. We ordered the 1 pound fried large shrimp platter. It comes with roasted potatoes, corn on the cob, and broccoli. I would have had pics but we ate the food right away! It was that good! This is a take out restaurant so be prepared to take your food home. Give them a try when you're on that side of Cal City.”

“Chicken is good, sauce is great, fries are blah. I've learned to call my order in and pick up, much faster that way. The prices are decent. Wing sizes vary, definitely recommend. Good customer service in person and on the phone. Food made to order.”
