“Sarkis holds a special place in my heart as a cherished Evanston classic, and after three decades of patronage, it continues to be the epitome of breakfast perfection. While the ambiance has seen upgrades over the years, the magic lies in their timeless breakfast sandwiches that have stood the test of time. The classic breakfast sandwich at Sarkis is a symphony of flavors – from the perfectly cooked eggs to the crispy bacon and the melt-in-your-mouth cheese, each element is a testament to their unwavering commitment to quality. What sets Sarkis apart is not just the food, but the consistency with which they deliver a satisfying breakfast experience. As a long-time patron, I've witnessed the subtle enhancements that have elevated Sarkis without compromising its nostalgic charm. The friendly staff and quick service are additional reasons why Sarkis remains a breakfast haven for both locals and visitors alike.Whether you're a newcomer or a seasoned regular, Sarkis manages to capture the essence of Evanston's breakfast culture. It's not just a meal; it's a tradition, and Sarkis continues to be the torchbearer of that tradition with its classic breakfast sandwiches that never fail to hit the spot. Here's to another 30 years of Sarkis and the timeless joy it brings to breakfast enthusiasts like me!“
“When you walk into the place, it’s just a cute modern chic diner. It still holds the style of a diner but brighter. We walked in and it wasn’t too busy on a Thursday morning. The food was delicious, the little piggy had such great flavor with mix of sweet and tangy salty but the sausage was a bit too salty if not eaten with the biscuit or egg. The okonomiyaki is a fluffy savor pancake and flavorful sauce. The goat latte had a hint of a spices but a creamy butterness from goat milk. Absolutely amazed by the items, would recommend if you’re visiting in Chicago“
“It's like someone said "Let's make the BEST food ever so everyone wants to try it but choose seats that are as UNCOMFORTABLE as humanly possible so our customers stay young and beautiful." Seriously every time I come here I feel like the friend who never gets guys when y'all go out to the bars.“
“Excellent spot for breakfast with healthy (and delicious) options, strong coffee, and courteous and responsive service. Warm diner setting with option to pay online (QR code on check). The avocado toast with side salad was an excellent meal I most recently had - hit the spot to start my day strong.“
“So many options for a vegetarian!! Usually there's a few options that I can choose from at most restaurants but had heard that Chicago Diner was a meat free diner and so I decided to check it out. I was not disappointed with the sheer number of options both vegetarian and vegan on the menu. There wasn't much of a wait even though we didn't have any reservations which was great because I came in HUNGRY. As someone who has heard how good reubens can be but can never have them as a vegetarian, I was excited to try the reuben on the menu. Service was efficient and our waiter was very nice and accommodating. The reuben was HUGE! It came with a side and I chose the sweet potato fries which were sweet with some salt for a perfect sweet and salty combo. The sandwich itself was a lot.. I think there was too much "meat" and it led to the sandwich falling apart after two bites. The flavor was nice and while I wouldn't get it again, I'm glad I tried it!“
“I recommend this Denys, the attention received by Sandy is very cordial, a kind, friendly person, she is always aware of what we need and what we order, she tries to ensure that we are given the best attention that the food arrives hot and that it is what we One ordered correctly, Sandy is a person who always has a smile for us, she gives her best, she makes us feel like we are with family, her kindness makes us return to this same restaurant. I recommend her, a very good person, her contagious smile, it makes her happy. the day to anyone“
“This was our first time being here. We loved it. It's a small, cozy restaurant. We went there to celebrate my kid's and husband's birthday. We didn't have to wait to be seated. The waiting time for food was good too. The food was great as well as the service. The staff is very friendly. We were told birthday people get free ice cream. So my child was supper happy and got even more when they sang her happy birthday. Well worth the visit. Easy street parking on cicero, although you have to pay, but you might be able to find free parking on Fletcher. The prices are good and definitely will be returning.Kid-friendliness: The menu has a small section for kids“
“Allergy and celiac friendly. Some vegan options. Great old school high quality hot dogs. Unique retro home town and family shop vibes. They know their customers and take care of them personally if needed. My out of town family AND friends always schedule it into their chicago trips. Ken and Danny are caring heroes, too. Oh their stories of pulling women from burning cars, how they took care of their employees during lockdown, and more. Tell them I sent you.“
“Est. 1937Layout/atmosphere*13 seats; one TV; see street through windows; bare bones operationService*QuickFood/drink*The Slinger (two hamburger patties, American cheese, two over easy eggs on hash browns and topped with house made chili) - Good; chili not spicy, lot of beans“
“Old fashioned diner. Not a lot of circus, the food is as good as homemade (or better).Edit: The original review was from 2 years ago. The review stands - great place to enjoy a well-done breakfast. The staff is always pleasant and helpful. The only thing that I don't like is from a business standpoint - they make paying incredibly easy with a digital QR code. Though this is convenient as all heck, it removes a final opportunity for the staff to interact with the customer and thank them for their patronage. It does create more time for the staff to be of service to other patrons. You don't have to use this option. You can pay the server or at the register. It's just that as a business owner, I would like the patrons to see the staff's smile and hear that "Thank you, hope to see you back again soon." Keep things personal, high tech is ruining us!“
“Pete's Grill is the best breakfast and lunch place ever I have yet to have lunch here yet but every time I have breakfast there I always go for the sausage Patty egg and cheese on wheat hands-down, the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had in Chicago,“
“Best shrimp and grits this side of NOLA. Staff is attentive, food is incredible. If you’re looking for a diner with comfort food this is the place. Very reasonably priced, every week a new special. Soup from scratch. Sit at the counter and watch your food being made.“
“Just wanted to write a quick review about our amazing dinner. I've been here once before and remember loving the food. So last week we came out from Chicago to celebrate our anniversery. The Food was amazing especially the entrees. The cocktail list was sooo good along with the wine selection. And lastly shout out to the host/managers and our server Amalia, was absolutly amazing made our dinnig experience A+++.“
“The people are nice and are working hard. I can tell. I stopped in on the way back from Chicago and I had the BEST avocado roll ever. The avocado was so fresh. I don't think you'll regret coming by when you need something easy to eat :)“
“This is a fantastic brunch spot. The atmosphere is really cool, you can go with a small group or you can go by yourself. Either way, you won't be hassled. Staff is very laid back which just adds to the whole atmosphere. This is a place to go if you want to have breakfast and kind of chill.Parking: Parking is on the street off of Clark, and is obviously kind of tight. But if you can park on the side street you would be fine.“
“The Greek salad was Awesome!!! Had everything in it and anchovies upon request! The Grecian Chicken meal and Gyros sandwich Awesome! Don't forget the freshcut fries, nice and hot upon pick-up! We'll be coming back real soon...We're neighborhood folk, and like to enjoy a nice delicious meal away from home, just like eating at home! You won't go wrong trying this place, if you haven't already!Parking: Parking is very convenient...right out in front“
“Service is fast and friendly, food is good and reasonably price. Have a very wide variety of food selections on their menu. There was 6 people in our group and they were able to easily accommodate us (this was on a Sunday afternoon) Kelly was our server and she did a wonderful job of catering to us. I’m planning to come back to try other things in their menu.“
“Old school, simple foods in a relaxing atmosphereVegetarian options: You can alter any dish to not include meat products.Kid-friendliness: No problem bringing children, the booths are roomy enough for 4 adults, even 6 if you add a small table.“
“Our team walked in for breakfast thinking it was sit down, but it's all carry out. So we switched gears and enjoyed a great breakfast when we got back to eat it. My favorite part was the pancakes (huge and tasty) and the corned beef hash!“
“So its the B day and I decided to eat a little healthie, food was good but the chicken fried steak was a little tuff around the edges but tasty along with veggies and the mash. Wonderful atmosphere with a lovely hostess that made me a banging drink definitely will return when I'm with my vegan crowd in thus area.“
“Went here recently, looks like they've been in business for a long time. The food was ok. The staff is great. Our hash browns weren't browned. They were cooked but soft and limp, so I think you might need to request browned crispy hash browns.“
“The vast variety of the menu is a reflection of what Chicago offers. The chilaquiles with steak are marvelous, meat is tender, juicy and tasty flavor. Pancakes are fluffy and no too sweet, but not tasteless. The Arnold Palmer was so good! (beats BarMar by Jose Andres, or S.K.Y). The coffee may need some improvements, but it is expected. The staff is friendly, attentive and looks they have a good Team's work. I really like there was no hostess per se, so you are being seated faster. The mural/painting, they have on the back, adds character to the place. The shakes are good, however, they should give you the glass where they prepare them (as ElevenCity does).Interesting, the check comes with the lowest tip option of 15%. They are no longer 24 hours, but the sign on the corner says so.Huge windows are cool and booths do not have small tables,Este lugar tiene un mundo de opciones para elegir que comer, es basaicamente un reflejo de la gastronomia de Chicago.Este lugar tiene un mundo de opciones para elegir que comer, es básicamente un reflejo de la gastronomía de Chicago.Kid-friendliness: They have high chairs and coloring books with crayons ?“
“I enjoyed the Golden Nugget. The portions are quite large, so don't be surprised if you have leftovers. The price is a bit higher than some other diners , so the portions are comparable. The juice was a full sized glass, which was amazing. The food is comparable to Denny's or sharis, breakfast staples. Lots of options. Only complaint would be I wish they had benedicts with more veggies. Like a California (avocado and tomato) or something. A great breakfast spot.“
“This place is your classic home feeling diner. Nothing better than home cooking and that's what you'll get here.Kid-friendliness: What kid doesn't like pancakes? French toast and bacon? Of course, it's kid friendly.“
