“I have gone to Andros Taverna for many years now where I am never disappointed and always impressed with the service, the quality of food and ingredients, the atmosphere and the passion in general. Chef Doug Psaltis is a true expert and artist performing at the highest levels. The gyros are the best, best gyros in Chicago by far, the seafood world class, the homemade bread and pita are incredible. The foods and meats are cooked over wood fire, wood fire grilled. We had our daughters baptism catered from here which was excellent assortment of Greek food - this is a Greek restaurant you will go to for many years to come.“

“Had lunch there today and I have to say this is the first time I was disappointed with the service. The food was excellent but that's it. Asked for 2nd drink and never got it. Water was never refilled until we were through eating. When first ordering our wine we had problems. I will continue to eat here and hopefully this is a one time occurrence.“

“Walker Bro's was closed so on a whim, I changed the cuisine to Greek and was recommended Taverna Naxos; a hop, skip and a jump away. Walked in blind to any expectations and immediately was stunned by the ambiance, esthetics and cleanliness of the restaurant! I was the only patron and confused if they were even open. Michael, assured me that they were and gave me carte blanche on seating. The chef personally handed me a plate of bread and hummus and the flavor profile knocked my world off balance! When the Tzatziki & Kedfeh (Greek meatballs) arrived, my world stopped spinning in orbit. Each ingredient tasted as if it was hand selected earlier in the day!

The bathrooms were immaculate. The menu & specials looked as if they had just been taken out for their maiden voyage! This has got to be a date night hot spot, if it's not, do it!

I'm curious if they bring the ruckus under pressure of a full house but by look of it, they mean serious Greek business! Thank you, Michael, Head Chef & Taverna Naxos staff for altering my mood with the experience!“

“It has the absolute best food! In the 30+ years we’ve been going for dinner, we’ve never had a bad meal! The Athenian chicken and kabobs are outstanding, along with the Greek fries. “One of my all time favorite restaurants, 20+ years going strong, with Greek taverna classics. Can’t beat the outdoor patio in the summer, and great vibe indoors as well. Standouts include grilled octopus, kolokithakia, spaghetti, charbroiled chicken and perhaps the best lamb chops (pictured) I have had in the US.“

“I can’t say enough good stuff about this place. My bf& I enjoyed some delicious bacon cheeseburgers last night. It was phenomenal. Fries were a little dry…. But not bad. Other than that, each time I have gone the staff is super friendly and the daily specials are great. It’s good to see a place that still has affordable burgers, pizza and hot dogs! “Always loved their Greek pastries, they are the best, started going to them 60 yrs ago with my mom and dad. We were always going to Hellas for our parties baptisms and weddings. All our holiday needs were easily available for us. Unfortunately, we moved out to Poplar Grove, Illinois near Belvedere and have missed them greatly. Always love them and it brings a tears to my eyes, that they are still around. God bless them. My parents knew the owners personally.“

“BEST GREEK SALADS ! I always order from here and I’m never disappointed! I’ve never had a better Greek salad than Mr. Zee’s. Their Greek salad dressing ….. I mean I wish I had a gallon of it at home so I can put it on everything. I think they should start selling it or maybe give me the recipe ?? The locations I’ve been to, Winnetka and Avli Taverna, have a great philosophy, atmosphere and is intimate for couples, yet easily accommodates a family of 4 comfortably for a casual yet fine dining experience. The menu is thoughtful, including imported Greek oils, crafted unique Greek dishes masterly designed with every detail. Every desire the guest needs is addressed and executed. The plates are exquisite and the atmosphere is heavenly, magical! “Update: I've been coming here for like 20 years, cant remember the last time they've raised their prices. Their full slab of Baby Back Ribs has been $25 for ages, and it's as good as it's always been, fall off the bone tender right balance of sweet and salty, a little fat and their delicious glaze.

Portions are good, food is out in like 3-8 minutes, love coming here.“

The cashier knows the menu and is familiar with the Ingredients. The short order, visible kitchen creates the meal quickly. Both vegan and conventional entrees are offered. Beef, chicken, and vegan options are available. The three in our party ordered gyros with pita, roasted chicken, and homus platter. They were delicious.

STUFF: Parking is difficult. I ended up using the city lot, a block away. This eatery has two levels connected with a ramp. Everything is ADA compliant.“
