“I have gone to Andros Taverna for many years now where I am never disappointed and always impressed with the service, the quality of food and ingredients, the atmosphere and the passion in general. Chef Doug Psaltis is a true expert and artist performing at the highest levels. The gyros are the best, best gyros in Chicago by far, the seafood world class, the homemade bread and pita are incredible. The foods and meats are cooked over wood fire, wood fire grilled. We had our daughters baptism catered from here which was excellent assortment of Greek food - this is a Greek restaurant you will go to for many years to come.“

“Walker Bro's was closed so on a whim, I changed the cuisine to Greek and was recommended Taverna Naxos; a hop, skip and a jump away. Walked in blind to any expectations and immediately was stunned by the ambiance, esthetics and cleanliness of the restaurant! I was the only patron and confused if they were even open. Michael, assured me that they were and gave me carte blanche on seating. The chef personally handed me a plate of bread and hummus and the flavor profile knocked my world off balance! When the Tzatziki & Kedfeh (Greek meatballs) arrived, my world stopped spinning in orbit. Each ingredient tasted as if it was hand selected earlier in the day!

The bathrooms were immaculate. The menu & specials looked as if they had just been taken out for their maiden voyage! This has got to be a date night hot spot, if it's not, do it!

I'm curious if they bring the ruckus under pressure of a full house but by look of it, they mean serious Greek business! Thank you, Michael, Head Chef & Taverna Naxos staff for altering my mood with the experience!“

“Always loved their Greek pastries, they are the best, started going to them 60 yrs ago with my mom and dad. We were always going to Hellas for our parties baptisms and weddings. All our holiday needs were easily available for us. Unfortunately, we moved out to Poplar Grove, Illinois near Belvedere and have missed them greatly. The cashier knows the menu and is familiar with the Ingredients. The short order, visible kitchen creates the meal quickly. Both vegan and conventional entrees are offered. Beef, chicken, and vegan options are available. The three in our party ordered gyros with pita, roasted chicken, and homus platter. They were delicious.

STUFF: Parking is difficult. I ended up using the city lot, a block away. This eatery has two levels connected with a ramp. Everything is ADA compliant.“

“I just want to share an experience before the Internet. I have no clue if this is a family owned business or a franchise. I grew up around the corner from the restaurant in the 70's until I was 8 I would walk there everyday and get cheese fries and pickle spears. I was what you would call a regular customer. I was there so much the owner then out of the kindness of his heart would always take care of my bill and send me home with some extra pickle spears. This was before people ever invented paying it forward. So I would like to truly say thank you and I will always pay it forward from all the kindness I learned in my childhood years. Best cheese fries ever wish I lived closer.“

You don't eat at WCG, you experience it. The place itself is 2½ walls of tinted windows, and the interior is a little old. The place next door is forever changing hands, and is always vacant, sorta like Bob's Burger's. Inside you'll HOPEFULLY meet an older grouchy guy who does NOT have time for your shit. You get like two or three questions max. Think of that one episode of Seinfeld with the soup. There's a daily special, it's usually something good, except one day of the week where it's something you probably would never eat... Either way it comes with fries, drink, and salad or soup for like $12, and you're not going to finish it. You can try and then hate yourself for it, or you can walk around Buena with REALLY good chicken soup, your choice.

The best part though, by FAR, are the people you will see and the spectacle that can unfold if you eat there beyond midnight, particularly on the weekend. You can witness every type of human walk through that door at any moment, but in the five minutes you sit there to eat..
I PROMISE you one of the most. Let's say.. unique..individuals will walk in there and order a cheeseburger combo meal. It never fails, and it's always life changing.....
