“This place is special in a way that would almost makes me want to keep it a well-guarded secret. You don't really get this experience anymore, it takes a confluence of passion and community that's hard to come by in any era, let alone the modern, distanced, impersonal world we occupy now. This is the quintessential Chicago Mom n' Pop experience. Great food at ridiculously good prices served up with a smile and a friendly familiarity that makes you feel like you're right at home. The decor matches the patrons: humble, comfortable, working-class Americana and unapologetically Chicagoan to the core. You can tell most of the customers here are patrons for life, and with good reason. You always feel like a person here, not an order. They aren't just trying to turn over your ticket, they want to make sure you're taken care of.I can't tell you the last time I had perfect fries before this, like too-hot-to-eat, immaculate golden brown fries. I definitely can't recall ever getting them with a whole burger for under $7. I fed two hungry adults here for less than $20. It felt absurd, almost, like I wanted to pay more because it felt unfair to them that I'd pay twice that much at a lot of places.Just a positively perfect experience every time and we always make it a point to stop here anytime we're remotely close by.“

“Visiting from Indiana for training and decided to get Greek for dinner.....man o man o man.....was this a fantastic choice! When I pulled up, it was free valet parking and I was a little confused because I didn't anticipate it being that type of fine dining experience but I was wrong. We arrived at 6ish on Tuesday and let me say we beat the crowd. Within 20 minutes of our arrival, there was a wait for seating. As an appetizer we ordered the Flaming Cheese (Saganaki) And it was phenomenal. They automatically give you a platter of toasted bread and it was the perfect accompaniment.I ordered the chicken kebab meal which came with a soup and my choice of side. I chose the lemon chicken soup and greek potatoes...my tummy was in agreement with my choices. My friend ordered the Moussuka and it was a large portion that also came with soup and choice of side...she chose the mixed veggies and they were truly delicious. We tried the dandelion greens because neither of us had had them before. They weren't my fav but my friend loved them. This was simply a matter of preference nothing more nothing less.My friend got a baklava to go because we were too full for dessert at that moment. The portions are healthy, service was top notch and the food was obviously quality ingredients. There is something for everyone on this menu!“

“BYG appears to be back to the ways they were before the pandemic of 2020. Their portions are generous again as before I felt there was major cutbacks in quality and quantity due to businesses suffering due to Covid. Loved the pork kebab (Souvlaki), tzatziki sauce along with the Greek potatoes and rice pilaf.“

“My boyfriend has been wanting to take me to Cross-Rhodes forever as they have one is his favorite burgers; The Rhodes Burger, which is a half pound burger patty with cheese, topped with gyros meat on a sesame seed bun. It sits on a bed of steak cut Greek fries, which are equally loved. It's a big burger and will keep you full for most of the day. He asked for it to be cooked medium, and it was perfectly medium. I took a couple of bites, and the meat was so soft and juicy and the gyros was perfectly crispy. They don't skimp on the gyros. I ordered chicken souvlaki with grilled vegetables and tzatziki sauce. Chicken kabob in general is pretty similar from restaurant to restaurant, but their chicken kabob was one that I especially enjoyed. It had great flavor, wasn't dry, but also wasn't swimming in juice and had a beautiful char. I love a char on my meats, so it was pretty hard to not finish my plate. The tzatziki was very good - thick, with good flavor and not overly garlicky. The service was wonderful. We were greeted upon arrival and as we left by who I assume was the owner. Our waitress was very sweet and personable and made you feel right at home. Very cozy place. If you're in the area, be sure to give it a try.“

“While unassuming and a little out of the way, there's nothing better than a restaurant/bar with a small town feel, cheap drinks, and an interesting menu. The bartenders were easygoing and helpful, the other patrons were very chill, and we were able to find our own spot and enjoy the day. We went on a Saturday afternoon/evening and had an excellent time.“

“I've wanted to check out this place for a while and finally did. I went with a group of 5 people for dinner. The itself place is beautiful. It's got a great ambiance as well. The food was good. I will say that the food is very overpriced. I can get similar or better food for a much lower price.Jacob was our waiter and he was wonderful. He was attentive and so kind.“

“As a person who has eaten 250+ gyros in my lifetime, this place rewired my brain chemistry. I was confused looking at their menu wondering why they only had chicken or pork belly gyros. I thought maybe this place was just trying to be trendy and different, but Greek-inspired interior didn't really match that vibe. We tried the tzatziki, saganaki and chicken kabob which were all very good. However, we also tried the pork belly gyro stuffed with fries and it was one of the best things I've eaten in Chicago. I cannot stop thinking about how good it was. My mind was blown. I ordered another one to make sure it wasn't some anomaly (they also are similarly sized to a half of a sandwich). I don't ever want to eat a lamb gyro ever again. This place is a must try.“

“Great spot for in and out service! They offer fast service while still maintaining high quality eats. Burger stand ambiance with top quality food. I've ordered from here many times, and haven't found anything I didn't like. Some of my favorites are Philly cheesesteak and Philly chicken. Both are super yummy! Gyros, burgers, Italian beef, bbq beef, all delicious. Oh, don't forget the fries. I order mine well done and they nail it spot on every time. The pizza puffs RULE! That's it dear diners, check them out and enjoy.“

“They give you nice fat chunks of gyro meat here, it's excellent. My wife and I had a Chicago dog, pizza puff, bomber special, onion rings, Oreo shake. Everything was very good and the prices were fine. Bomber Special and Pizza Puff were my faves. Great dive vibes; it's a tiny 8-stool bar with a little TV in the corner. Playing tennis when I went (hell yeah)The gyro meat was chunky and had a good bite, and with BBQ sauce on the bomber special it was insane. The onion rings are breaded and I personally prefer battered, but the breading was even and fried well, and the inside was all beautiful stringy onions. Pizza puff was fantastic, great cheese and sauce ratio and really satisfying bites all the way through.Chicago dog was good, they use a poppyseed bun (I'm sick of going to spots with regular buns, this is a real dog) except I think the sports peppers were a little heavy. Tomatoes were a little light, but I prefer that. Oreo shake was excellent, it was creamy and a little icey in a good wayThe guy was really nice too. He was great at interacting with the customers that were interested and laying off the ones just trying to enjoy their food. 10/10 spot“
“This is the best Greek village salad I’ve ever had. This is my favorite type of salad and usually the only type of salad I will eat. “Excellent Greek and Chicago specialties. We started with Saganaki (flaming Greek cheese), they used to flamblé at table side, now they flamblé near the table and when it goes put they serve it. We also had calamari (kalamari). I strayed from the Greek traditional dishes and tried the fried smelts; if you grew up in the midwest, you might have tried smelts, and Central Gyros served them exactly as I remember my mother did. We also got Pastitsio, a Greek lasagna type dish. All entrées are served with soup, and we all chose the egg lemon soup. Solid choice. Overall Central Gyros has been doing Greek food for decades and provide great food at reasonable price.Parking: There is a free multi-level parking garage across the street.“

“Been a customer since 1978 when it opened. There have been a few changes in ownership over the last 10 years, but the food quality has come back to an excellent level again. Love the gyros. The meat, the bread and how it’s cooked, and the sauce are amazing. But their gyros are not the only food they serve. Make a trip . It’s worth it.“

“This is a place that the entire community appreciates. I commend small businesses like this for keeping their commitment to being a wonderful local option for Wilmette and the surrounding neighborhoods. However, I do wish that they had at least a few vegan entree options. If they did, people like me would visit more often to eat instead of just having to settle with a tea and fruit.“

“I need to eat here again to go to 5 stars. I went after a rushing Record Store Day of not getting a single record I want. A gyro with fries and a drink ran ~$16. Nothing horrid prices but well worth the pay. The gyro was great, and the fries were most definitely fresh. As I was leaving, they said bye. It's little touches like that that'll definitely get me back through the door. All in all great experience.“

“This past mid September was the very first time trying this place and I'm glad I did. I'm a bit of a Gyros junkie so stumbling onto the name on Google maps caught my attention. My family & I were wandering around Old Orchard before coming here but I'm not familiar with any restaurants within the mall that serve up Gyros or at least I haven't heard of any popular name that's known for their Gyros there.Told my wife I've got that craving and wanna go exploring. Grecian Kitchen sounded just dandy and also in town not all that far from the mall and I always try my best to support local.I know besides actual Greek restaurants that there are hundreds of Chicago/Greek grills that many people would claim "MEH, they're all the same!". Not always the case for me and GK boasts a great menu with really good food and especially the Gyros.I've had my fair share of places that have served up some bland & boring Gyros before and never to return. Gyros here are excellent; meat is soft & moist, well seasoned and not too salty.Prices are still reasonable amidst the pandemic, nationwide inflation and the minimum wage hike. Clean dining room with outdoor seating as well with friendly customer service. We live up in Beach Park in between Wadsworth and Waukegan so not sure when I'll get back down here but if my wife ever wants to browse Nordstrom which Old Orchard is the closest to our house then I'll have to make room for some savory Gyros.I wish a prosperous & successful future for the owner(s) and decades of boomin' business to come their way.“

“This was my first time ever dining here. I was in the area to pick up an order from GameStop. As I was walking and looking around I stumbled into this gem of a place. The hostess, Linda, was very sweet and kind. She also waited for me to finish my appetizer before bringing out my entree. Which gave me time to enjoy what I was getting. Unlimited refills of coffee and water as well. I had the navy bean soup, which Linda recommend, and a Cajun burger with a side salad. Please visit this cozy and homely place when you get a chance. Nice place to dine solo or with family. Very nice staff and food was delicious. Nice portions too.“

“Another "not my first time here, but first Google Review" for this place! Probably visited here last in the 2010s but still the same classic joint interior-wise and food-wise. Top 5 Gyros and Chicken Gyros spots in the Chicagoland suburban area in my opinion. Ordered their Chicken Gyros sandwich as well as a side of Oven-baked Greek Potatoes (pictured here). So much gyros meat and the potatoes are perfectly baked and soaked in broth. Not going to wait years for my next visit.“
