When deciding on a cake, I gave the bakery a Pinterest photo of my dream wedding cake — and they absolutely 💯 delivered. Not only did the cake look stunning (every detail was exactly how I envisioned it), but it tasted even better than it looked! We went with a chocolate raspberry mousse flavor, and it was rich, moist, and perfectly balanced — not too sweet, just delicious and fresh! The ladies at the bakery are easy to work with and price was very reasonable.

“Yesterday I took the Sourdough Breadmaking Class with Chef George at The Ancestral Oven and I just pulled an amazing loaf of bread out of my home oven 24 hours later! Chef George provided all the necessary instruction and supplies - including a lively starter - for students to start their own sourdough journey at home. The class included hands-on experience feeding the starter, as well as folding and shaping the dough. I had a great time at the class and can't wait to return to try out the breakfast and lunch menu at The Ancestral Oven Bakery and Cafe.“

“Crumble. Great tasting cookie, horrible for you. Not a fan of the Tinley Park location. Closed Sundays n then cookies are so thick they cook funny n get hard fast. Not like other locations alot thicker of a cookie. Ends up cooking funny due to the thickness as well. Makes it not as fresh like my normal crumble. Unless they were sitting due to the new everyday flavors. Which its about time crumble. Try the pink icing cookie, love it. Be ready for a sugar rush, possibly too much. “I do think these are the best donuts in Chicago area, or that I've ever had, specifically the glaze and the chocolate. I'm from Texas and have high standards for simple yeast donuts. The Chicago area is really lacking in independent donut shops, so when I found these, I was so happy. I found the original D&Ds location a couple of years ago, but was happy when this location opened as it's closer to me. There is a very professional and kind young man that we've seen work the register at the shop a couple of times, and the owner always offers up samples to newbies, so the service here is great. The food and service are truly 5 stars.
The only downfall of this place is, as other reviews have mentioned, there have been multiple times I've tried to come during business hours, and they are unexpectedly closed for the day. And I'm left heartbroken. To avoid this, I would definitely call before heading there. I won't stop going because I truly believe in their product, but I definitely won't head there unless I've confirmed they're open.“
