“The combo sandwich with sweet peppers was huge and delicious. Fries were good ? I asked for ice for my water bottle, and they did'nt have any. Overall, I enjoyed the food and the mild sauce.”
“I stopped for lunch while I was in the area. I had the two hot dog special. The hot dogs were very good. The toppings were all right, could have used a little more. The dog only had one small piece of tomato. The fries could have been cooked a bit longer, but they were plentiful. There are about 5 tables and one that runs along the window. The people were friendly and helpful.I will return the next time I'm in the area.Bicycling: The streets are very busy and don't seem bicycle friendly. I did not see any outdoor seating.”
“Regular price and size tacos al pastor are really good. On Monday and Tuesday tacos are supposed to be 1 dollar but if you don't ask they won't tell. Why would you advertise that in social media if you don't offer it to your customers and instead just give them regular tacos and when customer ask, you say that you need to ask for those ? ? If you opt for the special taco be aware that you would get 80% tortilla and 10% grease scraps.”
“Jessie helped me out today, it was incredibly kind and the service was quick. And I appreciated the fact that he was able to cut my slices into squares perfect size for my child. Thanks Jessie!”

“One of the best carnitas I've had. Highly recommended!Order carnita meal for two with meat only but received a mix. Still enjoyed it. Hand made tortillas were also very good.”
“I traveled from Atlanta to Chicago and I couldn't miss the opportunity to eat food from my native Puebla, the Cemitas are delicious and the Arabic tacos are very delicious... My children loved it... the only thing that the place and the chairs need to improve a bit little but the food is worth ”
“This is the kind of place with regulars that all know each other. The food is good and the prices are great. Maybe not the nicest interior or the most expensive menu, but the value is outstanding.”
“My Fraternity Brother Anthony Williams and partner Byron Diggs when not bringing great joy as a part of the Our Lady of Our Lady of Africa Parish, Chicago Eucharistic Ensemble have a great Cafe in Maywood right off of I 290. It is called Meal of the Day and has some great southern cuisine in an establishment on the 4th floor of a business complex overlooking I 290. It is appointed with some great art from notable black artists . There is also a banner from Hales Franciscan Class of 1979 , not sure what that’ s all about .. lol! They also do on site catering and have fed the masses after masses at their home church . Check them out ! My fraternity brother has been telling me for years to make the drive and wifey and I finally did and it was so worth it ! .”
“Pumpkin's Place is in the heart of Maywood. The atmosphere is what is expected of a carry-out neighborhood "joint". However, the food is great! The Turkey Tips, Rib Tips and chicken wings are so quite delicious. The meat is seasoned well, then the amazing BBQ sauce makes this one of the best places for BBQ. I've never tried the sides because they don't look appetizing, but I did have the cobbler once. Surprisingly it was good. I say that because restaurant cobbler is usually unremarkable. The only downside is that it closes at 5 p.m. and the tips are usually sold out early. The great thing is it's open on Sundays so I can get my meats right after church.”
“Chris and Ulysses are awesome! Everyone who works for them are very professional! I have tasted a lot of their foods on the menu, and nothing disappoints! The best pizza! Mushrooms and Taco salad boneless wings and the best grilled chicken salad, which I will be ordering today as soon as they open!!My #1 place to eat!!”
“My food was fye. Everything was hot and my shake was mixed with pineapple and strawberry (which I included in the notes and they actually read it and did it it's a lot of places that don't). Gyro cheeseburger has always been my go to.”
“Parking: It difficult to find parks cause you have people sitting up there doing nothing taking up parking space.....I recommend you order your food first so it want be a problem with you looking for a park....”
“I celebrated my birthday yesterday in this great restaurant. I am glad to say that we had a pleasant evening and the restaurant was evidently one of the reasons for this strong event. The waiters contributed in a sweet manner, the cooking was appetizing and my buddies were very overjoyed. We shall surely visit again for more events. Thank you very much.”
“If you read any of the reviews for Al's Drive In online, people have a ton of nostalgia for this place. I find nostalgia for a restaurant can play a negative role for those who don't have the association, but that wasn't the case for me who only ate here for the first time today. The Chicago dog and super taco were solid but the combination fried rice was the hero for me. Never thought l'd find this kind of wok hei flavor from a Chicago Red Hots institution in Maywood, IL that would remind me so much of the fried rice I grew up with at my Chinese immigrant family's restaurant in Arizona. Honestly just throw in some bean sprouts and you'd have a 1:1 copy. I may not have the same nostalgia that a lot of the usuals have with Al's, but that familiar taste of home is so present in every bite of this fried rice. I'm immediately transported to teenage me devouring a large combination fried rice at my own family's restaurant after working a full day's 12hr shift in the summer and immediately passing out in my bed when I got home. I wish I had started coming here sooner.”
