“My friend and I stopped in at Firewater BBQ in Elmhurst on Thursday Dec. 1st for the "Granny's Lunch Box Special" which is available daily from 11AM-2PM. This was my second visit and my friend's first at Firewater. We both ordered the Angus beef brisket sandwich with a side of 3 cheese Mac & Cheese and a soda. The brisket (smoked for 22 hrs) is amazingly tender and flavorful. It was piled high on a toasted brioche bun and is served with your choice of sweet or spicy BBQ sauce or both if you like. The Mac & Cheese is sooo silky-smooth and creamy and compliments the brisket quite well. There are complimentary pickled jalapeños and sweet & spicy pickles available as well. My friend was so impressed by this amazing brisket that he placed another exact order to go to bring home. The cashier who also took our order was very friendly and polite. We told one of the chefs, Shawn, (pictured) that we really enjoyed the brisket and complimented his skills. My friend and I will both be returning to Firewater BBQ and we'll definitely be letting our family and friends know about this wonderful BBQ spot.“

“I recently visited the Friday evening of the Labor Day weekend, about 6:30pm. I usually set my expectations lower anytime they’re especially busy/any holiday, Of course there was a significant line, but you could tell they had prepared for the last summer holiday rush. The line moved efficiently and I placed my order for 2 extra large tips. To my pleasant surprise I was in and out in just under 20 minutes. Both orders were tender, plentiful, well seasoned, and that mild sauce was slamming. The quality didn’t suffer one bit, even at the end of a busy Friday evening on a holiday weekend. “We have been going to Russell's 50 plus years. Everything has always been amazing from the ribs falling off the bone to the original pulled pork sandwich that was so good. The last 3 time it has not been enjoyable. Tried it again last night the ribs were dry over cook not falling off the bone. Very disappointing. Four of us had them and all four was said they were terrible. Salad had to be returned. Baked potato was old. So disappointed, we drive 50 mile for this. Please fix it! Go back to your original recipe!“

“Well worth it! I cook steaks regularly but I very much enjoyed the quality of the steaks here.

You get a complimentary side of warm, fresh-baked brown bread while you order, and the food comes out quickly and piping hot. The outlaw ribeye is definitely their best item, it comes out as this huge bone-in steak that seems almost bigger than their advertised 24oz. size. It has a great crust with visible grill marks and a rich smoky flavor from the char-grilling.

The sides were also great, with a simple but satisfying Caesar salad with a flavorful dressing and crisp lettuce, and a premium side of brussel sprouts roasted and tossed in a sweet and savory honey glaze. They complimented the steak nicely and rounded things out.

The bill at the end is a bit high, but I felt that it was definitely well worth it considering the variety of food items and their outstanding quality. The steak was cooked perfectly and had a great flavor and texture and the sides were fresh and flavorful, certainly more work than I'm willing to do at home even if I considered the potential price savings versus eating out.“
