We received so many compliments from guests saying it was the best food they have ever had at a wedding. Meghann was extremely helpful & accommodating during the planning process. Anything I needed she made sure it was taken care of. Our day of coordinator Luis was awesome as well as all of the staff there. Everyone was super friendly and always on top of everything. Immediately after the ceremony was over we had a drink in hand and apps in our bridal suite for us. We were blown away by the food and everything from start to finish. We hope to have an event in the future to use them and have their delicious food again!“

“Tried the express menu last weekend for the first time and was NOT disappointed. Vegan birria tacos (made with perfectly seasoned mushrooms) were excellent, though I have to admit the consomé wasn't, unfortunately. But the vegan soul plate was all good. The fried hearts of palm were tasty and crunchy, the mac and cheese was creamy and not too heavy, the sweet potatoes were Thanksgiving-y, and the greens did their job. And the hibiscus and ginger tea I ordered was delicious! I just wish it was less than a 40-minute drive for me, but what can you do?“

“We almost didn't go to their tasting buy boy are we glad we did. We went to two other caterers before our scheduled tasting with Hearty Boys and figured they would each be good, but for some reason we went to Hearty Boys and were blown away! The food is such a step up from any other wedding caterer we tried. The chef came out with each course to walk us through what everything was and how the flavors worked together. Their presentation was also way better than the other options we saw and took our critiques to heart to make the meal ours. Neither of us are tomato fans so even though the salads came with tomatoes ours didn't, my wife has a garlic sensitivity so her meal was able to be made with other flavors to avoid and issues. All of the food on the night of was amazing and they had a server dedicated just to me and my wife so we never were without a drink and appetizers were always on their way to us as we mingled with guests. It's also obvious that Derek and their entire team are passionate about your night going exactly how you want it to. We cannot recommend them enough.“

“I had the pleasure of experiencing Catering Out The Box after winning their service as an auction item at the Chicago Scholars Gala last fall and let me just say… this was one of the best auction wins I’ve actually used. From the start, working with the owners was seamless. We collaborated to create a progressive menu that felt completely tailored to our evening. What I appreciated most was the flexibility. There were plenty of options to choose from, and they were open to curating beyond the standard menu to bring our vision to life. The execution was next level. Their team arrived fully prepared with everything needed. Setup, prep work, bar service, cocktails, table presentation, and serving utensils… all handled. Truly a turnkey experience. All we had to provide was the alcohol and kitchen space. A special shoutout to Sergio, our server, and Chef Berta. The food was fresh, light, and the ingredients were perfectly balanced. And I have to say… having our own branzino each was such a standout detail. Anthony, the owner, personally checked in at both the beginning and end of the evening to ensure everything from setup to breakdown was flawless. Once we received the list of our preferred vendors and began reaching out to them, Sue from Butter and Vine immediately stood out to us. She was warm, friendly, informative, and hilarious. She was flexible and worked with us through our COVID-induced postponement and changes up until the day before our wedding (seriously!). And the best part--the food was INCREDIBLE. “Inspired Catering and Events catered our wedding at the Columbus Park Refectory a couple of weeks ago and we’re still incredibly blown away by Liz and her team. From the start, Liz stood out as incredibly receptive and accommodating. This continued throughout the process and culminated in their incredible service on our big day. We truly could not have pulled off our wedding day without her expertise and dedicated work ethic— even more so when we pushed up our wedding by almost a year. Thanks to Liz and her incredible staff, we had the day we had always imagined, put together in two months. We were even able to salvage our outdoor ceremony after an unseasonable cold snap, thanks to an eleventh hour heater acquisition. We were there for a huge social club banquet, and the place was absolutely buzzing. The room was packed, the energy was high, the bartenders were clearly having a great time behind the bar, and the Shirley Temples were flowing like someone accidentally leaned on the soda gun for three straight hours.

Now before I even get into our night, I need to acknowledge another reviewer who once said this place is “2 Legit 2 Quit.”

After spending the evening there, I can confirm that statement is scientifically accurate. Atmosphere? Legit. Staff? Legit. Food? Legit. Hallways? Surprisingly legit. Carpets? Still legit. Bathrooms? Also holding strong in the legit department. Whoever wrote that review clearly did a full building inspection tour, and honestly I respect the thoroughness.

But the real MVP of the night was Kevin John, our table server.

Kevin John might be the quietest hardest-working server in the Midwest. No big announcements, no dramatic entrances — just pure efficiency. The man worked like a hospitality ninja.

Every time we looked down, more food plates had magically appeared on the table. No one asked. No one waved him down. Kevin John had already taken care of it. Plates cleared, new plates delivered, everything running like a perfectly organized banquet machine.

At one point we all realized something incredible: we had never once needed to ask for anything all night. Kevin John had already handled it before the thought even finished forming in our heads.

The man wasn’t just serving the table — he was quietly running a one-man food distribution operation while making it look effortless.

Between the fun crowd, the lively bartenders, the endless Shirley Temples, the legit carpets apparently approved by previous reviewers, and Kevin John making sure our table stayed well fed all night long, the entire event was fantastic.

If you’re hosting a banquet, party, or celebration, The Mayfield absolutely knows how to do it right.

And if you’re lucky enough to have Kevin John working your table, just sit back and enjoy the night — because that guy is making sure everything runs perfectly without ever needing the spotlight.

“Honest Foods is a fantastic, well-priced catering company!

I ordered catering for 30 friends and family members celebrating my daughter’s baptism. Their menu is extensive; I chose ciabatta sandwiches, pasta salad, and a green salad. Everything was absolutely delicious. In fact, I had several family members tell me “this is the best salad I’ve ever had.”

Tad, the owner, is a wonderful person too— very easy to work with. He was nice enough to send one of his staff to my house to drop off serving utensils, as I had forgot them during pick up.
