“This was our second visit, and we brought friends from out of town. Paige was such a joy, and so attentive. Amber gave us great wine recommendations. All of the support staff was on top of everything. We had such a truly wonderful experience, I couldn’t recommend it more. It is pricier than what we would normally spend on a dinner, but so worth it. Definitely get the Mezza platter with extra pita, and a lamb dish. What an absolute treat.“
“Great food with quality ingredients from Greece. Friendly & knowledgeable staff with top notch service! I'm 100% Greek and appreciate this concept opening in the neighborhood. Authentic foods you won't find elsewhere. The staff is approachable and will help you choose what to order. You can taste the quality. Highly recommend.“
“Friendly staff. Nice atmosphere. Great tasting food. It was my first time there and the food was very tasty. Not your usual sloppy pita sandwich, (although I love those, also). Nice variety of appetizers. I tried the zucchini keftedes and they were great. Nice portion to share or have it alone for a meal. (next time I'm going to order them with less sauce because I like the flavor og the kefteda). I'm happy to see a Greek food restaurant in the neighborhood. gives the neighborhood a continued variety of great places to eat. I will be back. Best of luck.“
“Fabulous meal and date night here. Quick and easy service. The short wait was worth it. The steak was juicy and tender. The apps and desert were fast to add. Incredible, reasonably priced for the meal. Only ding was it’s quite loud, cash only, and FCFS on seating, but if you know all that going in, it’s amazing.“
“Papa Chris is across from the Leaning Tower of Niles if you know where that is. It's a typical older family-owned joint. My kinda place. The folks were friendly and the prices were great. My gyro was filled with really tasty meat but the tzatziki sauce didn't quite do it for me. A little bland, maybe. More cucumber, less yogurt. Something.Anyway, everything else was great. Thumbs up.“
“Absolutely amazing experience! I went here for my birthday. While the exterior is unassuming, the interior and food were absolutely amazing! You receive large portions for the price. Service from all staff is hands down the best. Free valet parking AND the place was packed by 7:00 pm on a random Tuesday. This alone speaks volumes to their food quality and service. Restaurant and bathrooms, spotless! Time from ordering to receiving appetizers...perfect. Informative and kind staff...excellent. Not a single complaint. If you want solid, tasty Greek food with excellent flavor and portions...this place is it“
“We dined at Plateia for the first time tonight. The food is absolutely fantastic. We had the feta and honey appetizer along with tzatziki and fresh warm pita. For our main course, I had the yogurt chicken and oven potatoes which were delicious. My husband had the pastitcio which he enjoyed. Service was great, too! By the way, while waiting did our table, we observed a screaming woman who was upset that she had not been seated yet. She was incredibly rude to the hostesses and left in a huff. She threatened to leave nasty reviews on Yelp, calling the restaurant "trash". Make no mistake... she was the trashy one. If she leaves a review here, ignore it!“
“The chocolate rum balls and spinach pie are delicious and the owner is so sweet. The chocolate rum balls had nuts and were super fudgy- they just melt in your mouth. This is a great neighborhood spot! Very reasonably priced so make sure to have cash.“
“LOVE NICKS! Great service, family owned, upbeat & inviting staff ? good energy all around, you can feel the mutual respect amongst the ranks & I love that. Happy employees = happy customers WHO COME BACK. *Nicks drive in* is the perfect example of this & my family always runs it back?NOW... FOOD? Nick's is known for their HOME-MADE GYROS & they are delicious by ALL accounts!! If you like gyros, you will LOVE theirs! Nicks makes burgers, hotdogs, mozzarella sticks, chili, popcorn shrimp, shakes & many more options, kids meals etc. Sit down & stay a while or drive-inn & drive out.I've been coming to nicks since I was a little girl getting lunch with my grandpa or grandma. Saturday night dinner out with dad. I think I may have even had a birthday party at Nick's in the mid 90s. Nick's is family. Iykyk & if you don't know.. You're welome ✨️?Parking: Alot of space to park unnless it's busy. NBut it's quickKid-friendliness: Alot of space for kids to be kids“
“Excellent value and quality Mediterranean food. The chicken shawarma came with generous portion and great flavor. The addition of four complimentary topping (I picked baba ghanouj, hummus, and grape leaves) also tasted amazing and very fresh.“
“My boyfriend has been wanting to take me to Cross-Rhodes forever as they have one is his favorite burgers; The Rhodes Burger, which is a half pound burger patty with cheese, topped with gyros meat on a sesame seed bun. It sits on a bed of steak cut Greek fries, which are equally loved. It's a big burger and will keep you full for most of the day. He asked for it to be cooked medium, and it was perfectly medium. I took a couple of bites, and the meat was so soft and juicy and the gyros was perfectly crispy. They don't skimp on the gyros. I ordered chicken souvlaki with grilled vegetables and tzatziki sauce. Chicken kabob in general is pretty similar from restaurant to restaurant, but their chicken kabob was one that I especially enjoyed. It had great flavor, wasn't dry, but also wasn't swimming in juice and had a beautiful char. I love a char on my meats, so it was pretty hard to not finish my plate. The tzatziki was very good - thick, with good flavor and not overly garlicky. The service was wonderful. We were greeted upon arrival and as we left by who I assume was the owner. Our waitress was very sweet and personable and made you feel right at home. Very cozy place. If you're in the area, be sure to give it a try.“
“Really lovely little Ravenswood hideout local bar. It’s nice and clean, not a dive. Reasonable priced drinks and they sell food late, mostly Greek menu that always satisfies. Several ciders on the beer list which I always appreciate, and they take cash and credit and have a jukebox as well as one TV in the corner by the bar. Many tables throughout that are usually fairly quiet when I’ve gone. Bar is for chatty folks. I strongly prefer places that don’t have TVs in every corner Bathrooms are always well stocked and patrons are friendly but not cliquey.“
“BYG appears to be back to the ways they were before the pandemic of 2020. Their portions are generous again as before I felt there was major cutbacks in quality and quantity due to businesses suffering due to Covid. Loved the pork kebab (Souvlaki), tzatziki sauce along with the Greek potatoes and rice pilaf.“
“The service is great, I'm adopting the owner as my mom, and the food is very good and reasonably priced. Not very crowded right now because it's artic weather out. We bought a bottle of wine from across the street. Perfect night.“
“They never miss to make great food in here, Italian beef is fire, and burgers are made well and placed perfectly. Whatever they are doing back there they are doing right. Only complaint would be the blond muscular gentleman seems to always have an attitude. If he sees this all I gotta say is chill out broski it will be alright ?“
“Y’all need to visit Taverna Naxos in Wilmette and have an Aphrodite‘s Kiss made by Rosanna. It’s their Greek version of an Old Fashioned and is truly fantastic. Follow that up with the Baby Back Ribs (no bbq sauce in sight or needed) and you’ll be anxious to return. Say hi to Naxos’s manager, Suzanne, who will make sure you enjoy your visit.“
“This is the best Greek village salad I’ve ever had. This is my favorite type of salad and usually the only type of salad I will eat. I got it from here a few weeks ago and have been thinking about it ever since….so glad I went back for it again today - YUM!!Their marinated meats for the grill are also delicious!!“
“They give you nice fat chunks of gyro meat here, it's excellent. My wife and I had a Chicago dog, pizza puff, bomber special, onion rings, Oreo shake. Everything was very good and the prices were fine. Bomber Special and Pizza Puff were my faves. Great dive vibes; it's a tiny 8-stool bar with a little TV in the corner. Playing tennis when I went (hell yeah)The gyro meat was chunky and had a good bite, and with BBQ sauce on the bomber special it was insane. The onion rings are breaded and I personally prefer battered, but the breading was even and fried well, and the inside was all beautiful stringy onions. Pizza puff was fantastic, great cheese and sauce ratio and really satisfying bites all the way through.Chicago dog was good, they use a poppyseed bun (I'm sick of going to spots with regular buns, this is a real dog) except I think the sports peppers were a little heavy. Tomatoes were a little light, but I prefer that. Oreo shake was excellent, it was creamy and a little icey in a good wayThe guy was really nice too. He was great at interacting with the customers that were interested and laying off the ones just trying to enjoy their food. 10/10 spot“
“We had a lovely dinner at Central Gyros this evening. Normally we get gyros or ribs to go (always delicious) but today we tried something different. We had a gyros wrap, gyros salad, hummus, Greek potatoes and DESSERT! Everything was perfect! Our waitress was the sweetest and very attentive!!!“
“Been a customer since 1978 when it opened. There have been a few changes in ownership over the last 10 years, but the food quality has come back to an excellent level again. Love the gyros. The meat, the bread and how it’s cooked, and the sauce are amazing. But their gyros are not the only food they serve. Make a trip . It’s worth it.“
“This is a place that the entire community appreciates. I commend small businesses like this for keeping their commitment to being a wonderful local option for Wilmette and the surrounding neighborhoods. However, I do wish that they had at least a few vegan entree options. If they did, people like me would visit more often to eat instead of just having to settle with a tea and fruit.“
“This place is awesome! We had lunch there today and my husband and I both had the Italian beef sandwich and we split fries. It was so yummy!! The food is great, and the sandwiches were huge! The owner could not be more pleasant and we would highly recommend this place!!“
“So me and my girlfriend were walking on the sculpture park path when we saw (and smelled) this restaurant. We were both hungry and felt lazy to cook at home so we decided to drop in. From the outside it looked like a sit down restaurant, but when we went in it was more of a fast food Greek gyro joint with no d (nothing wrong with that in my opinion). We both got a gyro sandwich and shared an onion ring side. We got our food pretty fast and it was delicious! However, I do think they kinda went overboard on the onions but that's probably just me. Would recommend this place heavily for a quick bite to eat.“
“I was expecting to order off the menu- instead was stuck with the Valentine Menu paying 90 for too much food. After the appetizers and soup - I could not eat my main course (being stuffed). I had originally looked at the menu - never saw the Prix Fixe menu advertised on Open Table. The food was very good - the restaurant was overwhelmed with diners - so the service did suffer.“
“This is my favorite Greek restaurant in the country and one of my top 3 go-to places in the NW Chicago suburbs. The service is friendly and very attentive, and the food is beyond amazing. Do yourself a favor and order the "flaming cheese" -- a lot of it! Opa!“
“The place itself first of all is amazing.I had the Natural burger(medium rare) a few times and it's great, but my favorite is the steak sandwich it's ridiculously good also medium rare and I love the fries. You have to check out Big League Burgers you will not be disappointed.“
“Just came from ordering a chicken breast combo, a pizza puff and a cheese burger.. and let me tell you. This place never lets me down. I’m very picky on my chicken breast and they are nice and juicy grilled just right. Always order mayo lettuce and grilled onion and the onions are even on point. They are definitely not greedy with the chicken either.Parking: Never a problem with parking.!!“
“The Owner is Nice and Very Polite but the lady worker is very Arrogant and the way she answered you is like She's the owner ? I asked her if she can give me extra sauce for the Gyros and she replied " I didn't heard you say that " with a higher pitch voice ? Be Nice and Be Friendly most of the times.“
“Barba Yianni is an above-average Greek restaurant in the city. The dining room is spacious and comfortable, dimly lit and a nice location for date night or family dinner. The menu doesn't have any surprises but the entrees are very good.We chose the sampler platter (pastitsio, moussaka, and dolmades) and the salmon dinner. The salmon was cooked properly and had a nice tender texture. The platter was very large and was accompanied by greek potatoes and rice. Both were very delicious. Service was quite attentive. The coffee tasted like it had been on the burner a bit too long and when we brought it to the attention of the wait staff, they promptly fired up a fresh pot. Prices are reasonable here for the items on offer. Recommended.“
“Went for a late afternoon family birthday dinner. The menu selection, food quality, authenticity, ambiance were all second to none. I recommend the Yemista (stuffed peppers and tomatoes filled with beef and rice) served with Greek potatoes and veggies. Other family members had the Dolmades, Pastitsio, and Makaronada, all of which were mouth watering and done right! Avgolemono was glorious, and the Saganaki was awesome, spot on-not dry or too salty. Portions are generous and yet dont leave you stuffed but satisfied. It felt like we were in Greece. OPAA! You must eat here! Bravo Dimitri's and all the staff, σας ευχαριστούμε!“
“I love Avli!! The locations I’ve been to, Winnetka and Avli Taverna, have a great philosophy, atmosphere and is intimate for couples, yet easily accommodates a family of 4 comfortably for a casual yet fine dining experience. The menu is thoughtful, including imported Greek oils, crafted unique Greek dishes masterly designed with every detail. Every desire the guest needs is addressed and executed. The plates are exquisite and the atmosphere is heavenly, magical! (No doubt, I imagine, and kudos to your VP and marketing genius Ian) I passed Avli on the Park New Year’s Eve and did take a video which I will gladly post/share! The energy and vibe permeated outside to the guests in line waiting to enter to celebrate the New Year with Ian Vlahakis and the friends and family of Avli! “This past mid September was the very first time trying this place and I'm glad I did. I'm a bit of a Gyros junkie so stumbling onto the name on Google maps caught my attention. My family & I were wandering around Old Orchard before coming here but I'm not familiar with any restaurants within the mall that serve up Gyros or at least I haven't heard of any popular name that's known for their Gyros there.Told my wife I've got that craving and wanna go exploring. Grecian Kitchen sounded just dandy and also in town not all that far from the mall and I always try my best to support local.I know besides actual Greek restaurants that there are hundreds of Chicago/Greek grills that many people would claim "MEH, they're all the same!". Not always the case for me and GK boasts a great menu with really good food and especially the Gyros.I've had my fair share of places that have served up some bland & boring Gyros before and never to return. Gyros here are excellent; meat is soft & moist, well seasoned and not too salty.Prices are still reasonable amidst the pandemic, nationwide inflation and the minimum wage hike. Clean dining room with outdoor seating as well with friendly customer service. We live up in Beach Park in between Wadsworth and Waukegan so not sure when I'll get back down here but if my wife ever wants to browse Nordstrom which Old Orchard is the closest to our house then I'll have to make room for some savory Gyros.I wish a prosperous & successful future for the owner(s) and decades of boomin' business to come their way.“
“Used to live nearby and was a regular customer. Place hasn't changed over the years. Typical Chicago gyros spot with go-to menu items that hit the spot all these years later.Parking: Very few spots but other businesses in this small strip mall were closed or out of business.“
“The Greek salad was Awesome!!! Had everything in it and anchovies upon request! The Grecian Chicken meal and Gyros sandwich Awesome! Don't forget the freshcut fries, nice and hot upon pick-up! We'll be coming back real soon...We're neighborhood folk, and like to enjoy a nice delicious meal away from home, just like eating at home! You won't go wrong trying this place, if you haven't already!Parking: Parking is very convenient...right out in front“
“First time here, the beef and sausage was off the charts! Wife had pizza fuffs and shared with me! Loved the flakey crust, its like having a pizza shoved into a deep fried Cresent roll. The fries are super crispy and I loved it. My daughter plowed through their hamburger and my son tore ul thr hotdogs. Before I leave I will be back!“
“Homey, cozy family restaurant - glad we stopped in for breakfast (after driving past for years)! I don't know of any other place in the neighborhood that makes Dutch Baby / German Pancakes ... and Dappers does them RIGHT. My husband's skillet breakfast was great, and the coffee's nice and strong, too. We'll be back!“
“"Franksville Chicago earns my highest praise for its diverse menu and consistently delicious food. Whether it's gyros, Greek chicken, or burgers, every dish impresses. Even when we arrived close to closing time, the staff graciously accommodated us, allowing us to enjoy our meal without feeling rushed. Their kindness and quality cuisine make Franksville Chicago a standout dining destination."“
“My family and I have been going to Goodi's for years! Great Greek style fresh food. Their spanakopita (spinach pie) is so special! Delicious chicken kebab, Italian Beef, Gyros, and salads always fresh and good quality. Family owned with wonderful staff especially Angie who greets me by name. Highly recommend this local gem!“
“My daughter had a dance recital that ended late and we needed someplace open. I had always wanted to try Hubs but never had the chance. My wife had the burger which had an excellent char and my sun and I shared the ribs and wings special. It was great. Was it the best no. Was it fine dining heck no did it fit the bill heck ya. The tzatziki was a stand out for sure. We will be back.“
“The inside of this place looks great. Very old school diner type vibe.I had two burgers. Didn’t try the fries or any drinks. The burgers themselves were satisfactory. Nothing special but good.If you’re more adventurous than me, I would definitely give their other menu items a shot. I would visit again if given the chance.“
“This location is right next to my gym, but I just went here today for the first time. I got the chicken pita wrap with Mediterranean salad and garlic potato, and it was excellent. I've been pretty disappointed with Chicago food in general since moving here from LA about a year ago, but I finally found a place I will likely return to weekly. Price seems just a bit high for the size, but given the tastiness its not a bad value.“
“Great Greek food is my favorite but the burgers, hot dogs, ribs and chicken are the best. They have catered several family events and are kind sweet people to work with! The decor is strictly fast food but there's always a lively group enjoying themselves.“
“Local spot. Great flavorful salads with lots of ingredients and delicious dressings. Great for dinner, lunch, and catering for large groups. Kids love the chicken nuggets and we love the burgers. Our go to quick and fresh meal spot.Kid-friendliness: Lots of great choices for kids.“
“Zees Gyro, managed by the remarkable Constantine, his genuine hospitality, thoughtful consideration, and generous spirit was evident in every aspect of my visit. His outstanding service not only reflected in attitude but also creating a welcoming atmosphere. Zees famous chicken, with Constantine at the helm, stands out because of his up to par customer service. Not only does great food matter but also how you deal with people. He really impressed me. I highly recommend this spot.“
“I stopped in for a quick bite on my way to the dentist. They still serve the American usual hot dog Polish burgers tenders stuff like that. The Chicken shawarma wrap was absolutely amazing with veggies. I'm sure the falafel is awesome as well I'll be back soon.“
“I ordered the porchops plate today and it was amazing. The food was so fresh and tasty. The Sautee on the chops was on point. The rice was very tasty and that hot sauce was amazing. ?. Will definitely be back for more and recommend to my coworkers“
“Excellent food, staff and relaxing environment. We have been going there for many years and one of the main waiters never fails to remember us and always gives us a welcoming warm friendly welcome when we walk in. Our waitress was so nice and she was very friendly as well as all of the servers. We love this place and deeply enjoy the menu!“
“A nice local place. Good food, lot's of choices, always quick, and reasonable prices.Vegetarian options: Not a vegetarian place per se. But the choice variety is wide enough that a vegetarian like my mother can easily put together a good meal.Kid-friendliness: No playland but food is delivered quickly, and that helps with kids.Wheelchair accessibility: All ground floor, wide doors and wide aislebetween tables. So wheelchairs should have minimal dificulty.“
“Was really good. Loved the cashier such a kind person wish all cashier hosts were like her. Please give her a raise I not sure of her name but I know she has a beautiful husky named Shelly!! We will be back for sure great dinner worth every dime hats off to the chefs delicious ? damit give them all a raise!!!Parking: Enough spaces!!“
“I've worked in Morton Grove for 26 years and we have patronized this location often and have always found the food to be consistently great and the service to be Timely and I'm actually on my way there this now! Highly recommend. The Greek gyros are phenomenal and I also love the American Style. Stop by if you're in the area you'll be glad you did“
