White Fish All You Can Eat

“We were staying in Murphysboro to help our son move into SIU and found this place on Yelp. We weren't sure about going because of some of the previous reviews, but we went for it. We are extremely glad that we did! The vibe and quality of the food was outstanding. We had the all-you-can-eat fish fry and the smoked chicken. Definitely get side of the broccoli salad and the potato salad. Fantastic! For our appetizer we got onion rings. Some of the best we've ever had. If you're looking for an authentic BBQ/country restaurant where the people are relaxed and down to earth, Mase's is the place for you. We can't wait to come back!“

“This is the best restaurant in Carbondale. I held two business dinners here recently, and everyone loved the food. The chicken Marsala was sublime. Best crème brûlée I’ve ever had. Extensive wine list and real bartenders who can mix classic cocktails properly. My only complaint is that they don’t always have a vegetarian option on their rotating menu, so call first if your party needs vegetarian options and make sure they can accommodate.Parking: The parking lot has meters but I’ve not had to pay recently.“

“I put off trying this restaurant for literally months for a variety of reasons, and I am full of regret. I could have been partaking in this ambrosia on the regular all this time had I not been so stubborn. I ordered the #4 which is the fries with cheese sauce, steak, pico de gallo, and sour cream. The order was set to be ready in 20 minutes and they were finishing preparing it when I arrived.I am not kidding you when I tell you that my food smelled so good the entire way home it was distracting. When I opened the container though I was shocked by how nice the meal looked assembled. They don’t just pile it all together in a mess in the box. It’s nicely spread out and the sauces are evenly applied. And when I tell you that the taste actually made me emotional, I am not kidding. It was so so good. Perfectly spiced and seasoned with just the right amount of toppings. You could also tell they made everything fresh even though it was ordered mid-shift.The location was clean and staff were polite. I will definitely be back soon!I wish I had a photo but I started eating before I knew I was going to leave a review. And honestly posting a photo mid-meal won’t do the food justice. You need to try it.Vegetarian options: Tons of beans, cheese, and veggies to add on your fries or nachos.Dietary restrictions: You could easily make a custom order if you have dietary restrictions.“

Peachbarn Winery & Café Cafe • $$
560 Chestnut St, Alto Pass - 5.17 miles

“Peachbarn winery and cafe is a unique space along the Illinois wine trail. Peachbarn offers tastings and dinner. I would highly recommend stopping for dinner and especially try the soup. The tasting counter is just that, a counter and not really set up as a bar but more like get and pay for your tasting here and take it over there and sit down. The server was just the server and the person who was pouring the tastings was was just the person pouring the tastings. Still a must stop offering a solid selection of wine and food that I would stop for even if there was no wine offerings. There are many wineries to stop at and Peachbarn definitely makes the list of wineries you must visit.“

“This is one of my favorite places for breakfast. I've been coming here once or twice a month for the last 3 or 4 years. The service is top notch, and they'll keep your coffee full until you say "stop." I usually get the one egg breakfast. It comes WITH a meat ( sausage, ham, or bacon) hashbrowns, one egg any way, and toast. But that's not all, you also get a small order of biscuits and gravy and coffee at no additIonal charge. THATS INSANE. All for less than $10. There is no better bang for the buck.“

“First off I'd like to say the service was amazing. 2 guys were holding down the swarm of customers in line they were cooking handing out food and answering the phone. I watched them hand out at least 15 meals in a short manner of time. My expectations were 100000% met when I got this burger it was juicy but crunchy and every ingredient was fresh. Especially being from Chicago it's hard to find good quality food around here. This is my new favorite restaurant in Carbondale.“

“A very nice steakhouse, the steaks were full of flavor and cooked perfectly ( a ribeye medium rare and a strip medium). The steaks were generous in weight a few ounces above stated weight. Apps and sides also great and service was top notch. All in all a true 5 star.“

The Warehouse Barbeque •
217 N 17th St, Murphysboro - 9.53 miles

“My son goes to school in Carbondale and on a recent visit, he suggested we head over to Murphysboro to this restaurant since he had heard good things about it. WOW! Whatever he heard, it did not do justice to how good the 17th Street BBQ is!We started with an order of chicken wings that were initially smoked, then grilled and finished with a hot sauce. No wonder they received an award from Food and Wine Magazine. I love my wings and these were among the best I've ever had.My son had a pulled pork sandwich for dinner that he said was nice and smoky. I had a half rack of baby back ribs that had a great dry rub (I bought a bottle after dinner to take home) that had a nice outer chew and delicious, moist smoky meat. Sides were great mac and cheese and yummy pit beans. As if the great good wasn't enough, the background music track was about as good as I can remember at any restaurant I have ever been in. But then I'm a baby boomer who lived on the Allman Brothers, Clapton, the Dead, etc. So if you like that sort of thing, you, like me, will be in music heaven. Honestly this is among the best BBQ places I've been to and I can't wait to go back to Carbondale to visit my son just to head back to 17th Street - oh yeah, I guess I'll be happy to see my son, too :-)“

“I have smoked hundreds of #s of pork shoulder and eaten my weight in it as well traveling on business. 17th Street pulled pork sandwich today was as good as any I have ever had. Perfectly moist and smokey, the bun was fresh with a generous portion of pork. The ribs have the perfect smoke with the expert tug off the bone texture. The brisket, cut from the flat, is moist, tender, smokey, excellent work!!I'm a fan of fried pickle spears over chips due to the high pickle to batter ratio. These pickle chips have a high pickle to batter ratio so they pass.Speaking of eating my weight on something, their bread pudding is the best! Even the sauce is perfect. The bread pudding is so good, I would drive here just for dessert!!Nachos also great, not mind blowing but still excellent. We tried all the sauces and all are worth taking home, which we did.I am so pleased to see 17th Street is still working at Championship level. Strong work, we'll be back!!“

“This restaurant offers a surprisingly wide selection of fast food, primarily seafood and chicken. We had the fish with fries and coleslaw. Quality is comparable or better than long John Silvers. The dining room was clean. It took maybe 5 minutes for our food. There were quite a few desserts including funnel cake sticks. Overall a very good value.“
