Pizza is always plentiful of toppings, sandwiches with flavor and tacos for a great price and large portions. Dropped by on a whim to grab a quick slice of pizza and a drink and as usual, the slice was hot and tasted great. Staff is always friendly and ready to help. The plov is deeply satisfying—fragrant rice, meltingly tender lamb, and those sweet raisins that make every forkful addictive—while the grilled kebabs deliver proper charcoal punch and the hand-pulled laghman noodles have exactly the right springy bite. Manti are plump and comforting, the tea ritual is lovely, and the warmly hospitable service makes you feel like a welcomed guest rather than a customer. It’s only held back from a full five by occasional inconsistency (one visit the meat was perfection, another slightly dry) and a dessert selection that feels a touch limited. Still, for authentic Uzbek soul food in an atmosphere that glows with genuine Central Asian spirit, Samarkand remains an absolute delight well worth repeat visits.“

“I almost never write reviews but this is truly a gem. My wife and I are huge fans of Central Asian foods and we've been to quite a few. Before coming here we read a review saying that this was the best Central Asian restaurant in the Chicago area. And we can confirm that that is 100% correct. We're so glad that we found this new Kyrgyz restaurant just 20 minutes away from us.

We visited on a Tuesday night but man was it packed. Probably because it was Ramadan. Staff was friendly. And every single dish was so authentic and perfectly eexecuted. We left with very full and satisfied stomachs.

Just for reference, these were the dishes we ordered: Beef skewers, boorsok, mampar soup, lentil soup, lagman, and eggplant salad. All were great as mentioned.“

“I wanted to give this location props for their lunch on 8/17. Walking in around 1pm, I could tell they had had their butts handed to them and were obviously understaffed. However, in my perspective they were handling the hangry customers very well, were staying calm and the staff that was present seemed to know what they were doing. The only reason for 4 stars is because and (this has happened more than once at this location) rather than suggesting I try my Pesto Cavatappi with pork, they tell me it comes with pork, which is not true. There is an additional charge for any meat on this bowl.“

Also they started you with eggplant dip and pickled vegetables with pita chips flavored with zatar. We ordered the potatoe garlic dip. Yes, that garlic burned my mouth but that's what's it's supposed to do. If you don't like garlic order something else. We split the kabobs platter. 2 different rices. We had lamb, chicken and sausage. All the food tasted fresh and succulent. I forgot pictures this time.. but we will definitely be back with a bigger group to try more. Ohhh I forgot their pita!! The manager took my call and commiserated with me a bit and suggested that I place my order directly with them via their website. JC showed up a matter of minutes later with my extremely tasty food and a smile!. I love their Lobster Bisque soup and mine was still nice and hot. Bonus... The atmosphere was charming, though I can see how it might feel a bit tight for some since the tables are placed quite close together 🤏 But personally, we didn’t mind at all-in fact, it added to the lively vibe! At one point, the people sitting next to us even asked what we ordered because our food looked and smelled so good 🤭

I’m a big seafood lover, so I tried the Seafood Diavolo, and it was absolutely delicious 🔥🦞 The spice level was just right, and the pasta was cooked perfectly, loaded with lobster and a mix of fresh seafood 😋 I’m already excited to come back and explore more dishes from their menu. “This is really a wonderful restaurant. The price point is excellent and the value for money superb. The food was really, really good, and we all enjoyed our meal. The skirt steak, the lamb chops, the beet salad and the ceviche. The poached pear is something different (not sweet at all) and the chocolate cake was very tasty. And for 10 bucks you get a really solid pour of wine (probably around 9 oz), which is just unheard of in a restaurant. Service was good and we really enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommend you try this new place. They deserve to be more busy. It’s new and people need to get the word out.“
