“Very cool.. drinks were excellent, so were the nachos!! Service was very good, especially since the girl was handling the bar and the tables with a lot of patience and ease. The reason for not giving 5 stars... prices were slightly more than what was on board and menu. Make sure you pay attention to tip, it's automatically added for 4 or more. Will be back.“
“Small footprint with a ton of people coming, so get here early and wait for them to open it check for reservations or some kind, otherwise you'll definitely be waiting!Great atmosphere, great service, and absolutely delicious food. Highly recommend the dry pot chicken as the spices and oils have that great numbing and continuing heat. Only tried one specialty cocktail, but it was top notch as well.Parking: Saturday evening, lots of space on the street for parking. That's a wildly variable thing for an n of one, though.“
“I haven’t been impressed with Italian food here in Chicago until now. This place is seriously good. The appetizers recommended by our server were outstanding. Superb flavors. Handmade pasta dishes were very, very good. The final course of pork collar was phenomenal. I would definitely recommend this place over others.“
“First time I took my wife to the solaso restaurant the food we ordered was the tacos the tripas cochinita pibil tacos in the onion with the lime all delicious and also we ordered the the drinks and a dessert that that churros what the topping a chocolate in ice cream I'm very recommend this restaurant definitely definitely a back again and waitress Lezly very good ???“
“Gretel is a neighborhood staple. The food is outstanding. From the proteins to the pasta to the burger... everything is A-grade. It's my go to spot with friends. Drinks are high quality -- the old fashion is a must-try. Service is always friendly and knowledgeable. Cool lounge area downstairs too to enjoy apps and drinks.“
“First, and foremost - The Best Dinner I have ever had. Mixed Green Salad - Fresh, inviting and simple. Short Rib Beignets - To Die For! A Beignet stuffed with Braised Short Rib, brilliant. Tar Tare of Boeuf - What carnivore doesn't enjoy a good Tar Tare Ceci Bean Cavatelli - One of the best pasta dishes of my life. Escargot - Is it the snails that make it or the Garlic Oil you sop up with bread? Answer: Either one, just scrumptious. Ora King Salmon - Simple but the Tarragone brunne banc and caviar, and flawless cooking technique, makes this a top class seafood classic. 55 Day Dry Age T-Bone Steak - Cooked perfectly, well seasoned, if you have an issue with this steak, maybe you should of stopped and McDonalds for a happy meal. This in one of the best steaks in Chicago. Roasted Mushroom - Simple and delectable. Boeuf Fat Fries - Amazing, Hot and Crispy. Not a vegan option. BoeufHaus a must visit.“
“Love that this place is dog friendly! My friend told me that it used to be a house but after it burned down they turned it into a bar. They have a heated indoor patio and outdoor patio in addition to the inside space. Our bartender was fabulous but I didn't catch her name. The drinks were all top-knotch, I wish they had food but they do allow you to bring in outdoor food. We ordered pizza and then a guy selling tamales came around. Overall a super fun night and can't wait to come back!“
“A not so hidden gem as of late now that reviews are catching up with the imaginative menu and exceptional dining experience Community Tavern has been consistently providing over the past several years. Menu is full of unique dishes… elevated dumpling and noodles are a signature. Beautifully plated and generous- but not overly. Cocktail menu is fun, with zero proof options that are spot on. Save room for baked Alaska. Oh, and ambiance is chic but allows the focus to be where it belongs. On the food. Upscale West Loop experience in modest Portage Park for a lot less and no pretense.“
“Service is great! Food is delicious and love the late night availability. We came here after being turned away from another yakitori place, so it was generally great to be welcomed and fed so well and so quickly, especially since we were with a hungry kiddo! Thank you!“
“Wow, we had the best experience here. I think it’s our new favorite place in Chicago. Draven is amazing, definitely order whatever he recommends. The drinks we got were delicious, unique, and balanced. The atmosphere is perfect for a cozy and intimate evening (during the week, can’t vouch for the weekend). The meadowlark was so much better than any other bar we have tried. I graduate nursing school next month and have decided this is where I absolutely want to celebrate. Love meadowlark!“
“Gluten free waffles and pancakes ARE available and an absolute revelation! Hallelujah! The blueberry lemon cheesecake waffles were INSANE, no maple syrup needed.Claudia was a great hostess and server. Even when she is busy she's attentive and kind.Great Julius Meinl coffee ☕?My only note, and the only ⭐ I withheld, would be that our steak skillet had barely any meat in it and was mostly large chunks of potatoes and cheese (fine, but we're here for the full melange). If we're going to do hunks of potato, I personally prefer a small to medium dice, but hash browns are my top. Skillets are a staple and will be what brings people in over and over so that they can have the filling savory meal while they share your delicious waffles. Of course my experience is mine alone.Menu images for everyone to enjoy their amazing offerings!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Dietary restrictions: Gluten Free available!!“
“The atmosphere was more casual & rustic than expected (basically a heated garden shed), and the menu is small, but the food was amazing. The brussel sprouts were delicious. The trout was very good, but could have used a heartier veggie pairing like potatoes. Their Bad Romance cocktail was one of my favorites. I probably wouldn't return for a while since the majority of their menu is red meat and cheese (which I don't eat) but perhaps when their menu is updated seasonally, if they have a different seafood option. The back patio looked nice for warmer weather. (Note it is quite a small venue with only 1 bathroom.)“
“We had lunch today at Thattu. It was bustling with almost every table full, but the tables have ample space between them and it wasn’t too loud. The beautiful exposed brick and huge windows cast a warm glow on the modern dining room. They nailed Indian flavors without being heavy or greasy, and the fun fusion dishes we tried, like Indian-spiced tater tots with sulfur salt and beet ketchup are well executed and a lot of fun. It would be easy to eat healthy at Thattu, and I enjoyed the vegetarian combo with vegetable curry, rice, beans, and sauteed Brussels sprouts with coconut. We also tried the fried chicken with dill sauce, and the catfish.Guests order through an app at Thattu, and the cost is inclusive of service. They don’t accept tips. At lunch, you grab your own flatware, napkins, and water from a bar in the dining room. We didn’t mind this. One particularly nice touch was that when we arrived, there were no tables available, and we agreed to sit at the bar. The host said he would let us know if a table became available, since sometimes guests cancel very close to their reservation time. Lucky for us, about 10 minutes after we arrived, the host brought us to a table. It was kind of him to remember our preference and work on that for us. Googling the restaurant later, I realized that the handsome host was co-owner Vinod Kalathil. He’s clearly a wonderful business owner who knows how to make his customers happy.Thattu2601 W Fletcher StreetChicago’s Avondale neighborhood“
“Absolutely divine craft cocktails made by some of the best bartenders in the city (Violet hour / Mother's Ruin alumni). Come in on a slow night, get to know the bartenders, let them take you on an experimental experience and you won't be disappointed. The vibe is both chill and elevated, creating an experience you won't forget; whether you're seated at the bar solo or in a plush couch with your favorite person.“
“The food was delicious, my husband loved the burritos and the slaw. Also, I don't know the name of the person who served us today. But there were quite a few people and he was alone, with one person in the kitchen, he still kindly served us all, thank you very much for that.“
“Can't express how rad this place is. Been supporting since their "Togo only" days during Covid. Menu is consistent, yet always offering new variations and items based on the season. Drinks are always icy cold/made with care, and the bartenders/staff are some of the best in the industry. Supporting the neighborhood/community could be enough, but this spot goes out of their way to build upon what makes Chicago great every time. Daily specials, Wing deals every Wednesday, and burlesque once a month that's CAN'T MISS.“
“We were able to grab a few seats at the bar - we ordered fries and a few cocktails. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that they reopened. They have a really good pickle beer that is made at brewery close by. I look forward to returning and trying more of their food menu.“
“Our server Santana was great, we were there for brunch and we were looking forward to some hot coffee (which they do not serve), but Santana made us some hot coffee even though it was not on the menu to welcome us. He was great in making sure that we had everything! Would go back just to have him as a server again, the food was delicious, maybe they could include hot coffee on their menu in the future.“
“Ever since I discovered Barabaro, I order it at least once a week. Everything is delicious and fresh, with a good amount of spice. They definitely go the extra mile to elevate the food and experience. For example, the guacamole has some awesome toppings and the chips are seasoned nicely. You can tell the tortillas are fresh too. Definitely a cut above your average taqueria.“
“Sunday lunch was a wonderful experience for several reasons. The restaurant was open according to their posted store hours. A few years ago, this would have been a silly compliment. But these days, we have had several encounters in which we would arrive at an eatery and notice the doors are still locked even though it's past their usual store open hours. Needless to say, service was attentive, friendly, and efficient. Our party of six shared the smoked trout dip, calamari, charred pepperoni pizza, white mushroom and truffle pizza, Italian cheesecake, and tiramisu. The smoked trout dip is a tad high on sodium but I really like how it was served with flaxseed crackers. The pizza are served Romana style, therefore rectangular and fluffy. The crust is thin but with a crunch. Even better, they are half-price on Sundays!“
“I had the pleasure of being served by Andriy, and I must say he is an exceptional bartender. His attention to detail and creativity in crafting cocktails is truly impressive. He creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere, making every visit to the bar a delightful experience. I highly recommend trying one of his signature drinks!“
“I ordered the taco dinner with al pastor and steak. The portions were well served and the salsas they have are tasty. They bring out a small bowl of soup when you sit down and it was great way to start the meal. The micheladas are also great. I will definitely return and try something from their seafood menu“
“I love this place! The music is always good and the drinks are great. I do have to say that the bouncer/ door guy absolutely kills the vibe from the second you arrive. He is the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of five. I’m sure if you go when it’s less busy and he’s not there it would be a flawless experience. But this guy is constantly making remarks about other people and pissing people off before you go inside. He makes me so uncomfortable that the last time I was there I didn’t even want to wait in the bathroom line behind him bc I didn't want to have to deal with whatever he was going go say.“
“This is my absolute favorite neighborhood bar. They have Aviary style cocktails at Portage Park prices and amazing culinary fare. They have the best happy hour specials, and the staff is extremely nice and accommodating. The atmosphere wins the vibe check, and their music is always on point. Not that basic top 20 ish. I hosted my birthday party at their downstairs bar, which has a totally different cocktail menu. Our guests loved the venue and said the service was top notch. The owners are great!“
“I love paulie gee's! So many good, unique vegan pies. I try to avoid Thursday nights since it's trivia night and it is ROWDY, but also if that's your thing definitely check it out everyone seems to have a great time! Bartenders are always wonderful, great jov all around.“
“I went to Mother's Ruin with a group of my coworkers, and Keith the bartender took the best care of us. He really made all of our nights special. I have also gone to Mother's Ruin for my birthday and graduation, and each time the service is always spectacular. I can't recommend this place enough! I highly recommend the nachos, and the specialty cocktails they have are all delicious.“
“An absolute gem.I reserved the back lounge room for my birthday and it was the best decision ever! It was easy to communicate via their Instagram, and the room was reserved and ready to go. They even let me bring a cake and hire a caricature artist to come! We played bingo, had delicious cocktails, and admired the decor and items for sale (I now own a rainbow pin striped shirt!). I would HIGHLY highly recommend this place for a birthday, an event, or just to swing by for drinks! My highlight of the night Mark and Jana who smiled the whole night, made us delicious cocktails, and made our group feel at home. Loved their drink recommendations, too. Thank you, Consignment Lounge! Will continue singing your praises to everyone I know and can’t wait to come back.“
“Amazing! The food, drinks and happy hour prices are a 10/10. The decor, music and wall art gave the place overall great vibes. My boyfriend and I spent a couple of hours here just drinking and eating, it was great. The only thing I would add is, the place was busy when we got there, so service was slow. I think our waitress was taking care of the whole place. I understand completely so will not be deducting a star. Overall amazing experience, will be returning!“
“We went back to Citrine for pre-concert eats on our way to Chicago. This is a Mediterranean-type restaurant. Cocktails are good, food is good. Service is impeccable. Our server this visit was Theo, and he was attentive and friendly. The other staff from the young woman who sat us to the guys who delivered food and cleared the table were attentive and always gave us a smile. My husband and I started out with a glass of wine and a cocktail. We decided once again to share small plates together. We had the New York strip steak tartare. It's absolutely fabulous so we had to have it again. Fresh steak with a raw egg on top that oozes into the steak as you break it, it's perfection. We also got the homemade lepinja bread served warm with a couple spreads. I can't eat nuts or seeds and it came out covered with sesame seeds. No problem, Theo was more than happy to take it back and have bread made just for me without seeds. That's great service. We then shared the roasted beet salad which had arugula, goat cheese, avocado, and orange. It was a very small salad for the price of $14. Having said that, the salad was fresh and I liked the different textures, but it was the size of a small side salad and not worth the price. I would pass on this my next visit. The final dish we shared was the shrimp and grits. The shrimp were large and grilled perfectly, the grits were creamy. This dish was packed with flavor and some heat. Delicious. Citrine accepts reservations and parking is paid street parking. I definitely recommend this restaurant and you must try the steak tartare. So damn delicious!“
“Cocktails are tasty, creative, and innovative. The staff is fun and knowledgeable. The atmosphere perfectly fits their service model.Parking: Parking can be difficult on Fr-Sat. Would recommend booking ahead of time on spothero those days. Otherwise parking is easy to find within a block.“
“Service was great even though we came 10 minutes before closing, additionally we got absolutely great recommendations from supporting staff. The drinks were superb. Food was delicious. Favorite was the octopus! -Overhead lighting was a minus though. Bring sunglasses.“
“When J. R. R. Tolkien wrote "If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world." I'm thinking he was referencing what Sportsman's Club's Sunday dinner does for the soul...you gotta go.“
“I popped in just to meet my friend but then I had a dirty martini and now I am OBSESSED with it. You don’t expect much from a dirty martini right? It’s dirty. That’s it. Yum. And this was…… so good. Something about this dirt. Cuz I asked the bartender and he was saying something about the brine, it was somehow floral? He said the brine - not the vermouth. Idc. I just want another one. And then there’s the story: which I never got right, so I will irresponsibly spread it around here to generate more sensation. Something about… the original owner was tragically shot and died on the premises, in the bar. The wife shuttered the place and went upstairs for sixty years. The new owners kept the interior, the bar has original wood work and features. It is o. L. D. In a good way. I have no idea if that story is accurate or true. But I loved believing it while I was in there. What a great thing to be so surprised by a bar on division in wicker park! I love Chicago!“
“The food is authentic Italian and is delicious, especially the Rigatoni Con Sugo Di Carne! You can dine in to enjoy pleasant atmosphere and friendly, attentive service. It's in the center of a strip building between other restaurants that look alike so it's kind of hard to notice. In fact, I was told about the place and I live six blocks from it and drive by it almost every day.I have not tried the pizza since the Rigatoni is so good. If you like genuine Italian food, try it. You will return!Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchairs look like they can roll right in. It's all ground level.“
“I can't wait to come back. Vibes are immaculate. We arrived around 10:30 on a Friday and had no wait to get in Slippery Slope (downstairs) or The Heavy Feather. With standing room only we grabbed a menu (complete with photos of their signature cocktails) and placed our order just before a booth opened up. All the drinks were great and themed to the 70's decor and music. I was begrudgingly drug out the door after one drink to make our reservation down the street. I could have sipped cocktails and danced to ABBA all night!“
“Since moving to Cicero in 2020 this has been our spot. Food is always on point, service is super friendly and they have an outdoor patio that we can bring our pup pup.Vegetarian options: There's always something vegan or vegetarian friendly.“
“One of the best coffee roasters in the western burbs, and definitely my favorite coffee shop to work from. Their signature and seasonal drinks are great, plus this location also serves cocktails. Highly recommend!Parking: Parking is ample, but can be a bit tricky due to the layout of the building.“
“Visited Sojourn Restaurant for brunch in Chicago, IL, and it was a delightful experience! The smash burger I ordered was not only delicious but also beautifully presented. They let me add a poached egg, too! The live music added a fantastic ambiance, creating a perfect Sunday morning vibe. The staff was attentive and friendly, enhancing the overall positive atmosphere. Can't wait to return for another memorable meal at Sojourn!“
“enjoyed a delicious meal and caught a fabulous show by brooklyn charmers -- excellent space for live music. FAIR WARNING: there is a small room to the left of the front door from which you cannot see the band (there are video monitors though), so call ahead to make your reservation and ensure you are seated in the main room if you want to see the band.“
“I am absolutely obsessed with this place. The shrimp spring rolls are fantastic and I will be ordering the Khao Soi Gai every week for the foreseeable future. It is incredible!! I tried it for the first time last night (having never tried Thai curry) and oh my god. It’s sweet, savory, the chicken is great, and the noodles are perfect! I had my 8 month old try a bite and he loved it too!! The papaya salad is also super good! I will absolutely be ordering from here again next week. Thank you!!“
“Best Burgers! Took my husband there once and now I can't get him to go anywhere else. His words "Why chance somewhere else when Kuma's is always on point!" The Burgers are huge with a new Burger of the Month that keeps the menu fresh.Every Burger is delicious and totally different making it impossible to pick one. Also you can substitute the beef with Chicken! ? Atmosphere is great with cult classic movies playing behind the heavy metal music. Oh and let's not forget the beer/liquor selection!“
“Can't say enough about this wonderful place. The food is some of the best even against the great Mexican food in Chicago. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the love that exists. Drinks are some of the best I've had and the creativity is second to none. My wife and I really enjoy coming here trust me, when you're here you're family. Gracias“
“Rating the service based on the service I received, not the service I didn’t. ?When I came in, it was about 50 min after opening, and service was just picking up due to the concert scheduled for next door. There was one guy was behind the bar who was actively helping the slowly growing crowd, and he took my drink order and made it up for me while I looked over the menu. VERY well balanced drink!!A few minutes after 5, a lady showed up. It quickly became clear that it was both of their first days, because no one knew the discount code for the concert hall staff from next door. How management let that happen on a show night, I’m not sure. ? Rafael handled it like a pro, though.A few minutes after came in and she set her stuff down, Rafael suggested she take my food order while he helped the rest of the people he had at the bar and tables behind me. She turned back to the bar wall and didn’t respond or look in my direction at all. She instead read the menu for a bit, then carried her bank around for a while, then walked to the POS and hopped on her phone for a call. The food & bev manager in me was dying, but I’m not a jerk, so I just waited. And waited. It eventually worked out in my favor because Rafael realized she wasn’t going to help me and continued taking care of me.She finally took on a single bar guest about half an hour after she set her stuff down.Drinks were stellar, and the Bang Bang Shrimp was good! Panko is an interesting choice instead of tempura, but it wasn’t bad!!5/5 for Rafael & Restaurant Atmosphere4/5 for Food3/5 for the MIA management4/5 OverallI’ll 100% be back next time I have a show next door, but I probably wouldn’t stay if it was just her behind the bar. No hate, just very underwhelmed.Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs to enter or get around, and I believe there were low tops near the front, and outside when the weather is good. The tables in the back half are high tops though, so keep it in mind that accessible seating IS a bit limited.“
“the food is great, fresh and hot, and the service is great. Drinks are great. Music is great, just a great vibe. You can't go wrong, go check it outParking: park in the lot or on streetKid-friendliness: they can play games while eatingWheelchair accessibility: right on corner“
“If you’re looking for a fun night out this is the place! Great drinks and the DJ they booked knew exactly what to play to get everybody dancing. It has a great patio out back, a nice sized dance floor and the drinks were just what I needed to destress from a long work week. If you’re nearby I definitely recommend you stopping by to catch the vibes.“
“My wife and I went to Scofflaw on a Saturday night to celebrate a birthday and had a great time. The food was delicious and the gin drinks we had were phenomenal, as gin lovers this place is awesome. The staff was so friendly throughout the evening as well, we will definitely be back!“
“Came here on a Sunday evening to grab a couple drinks and food. Drinks were good and at a great price. Good selection of Draft beers. Bartender was friendly and was open to making drinks not on the menu so that was nice. Food was delicious. Burgers were kind of small in portion but if you get fries to go with it, you'll get a huge portion that can easily be split with two people (or just keep to yourself!). Nice vibes inside. Will definitely be back.“
“I already love Spilt Milk for their moody atmosphere, unique cocktails, and knowledgeable bartenders so I was pleased to be able to have them as a venue for my 30th birthday party. Anthony the owner and Charles of Umamicue were professional and communicative throughout the planning process, and during the event the entire staff were fun, interactive, and incredibly attentive and helpful. They helped make an unforgettable birthday for myself and my guests. Would highly recommend reaching out to them for your next event :)“
“As always, Chef Paul’s restaurants are right on point. Katherine and I collectively have been to Vistro (Prime) a few times . . . and the food, craft cocktails, and atmosphere make for an excellent social and culinary experience. It was wonderful to see Patrick doing the Mixology while the other restaurant is in process of opening apparently this spring. This time around, Katherine and I stopped by for a craft cocktail, and we ended up enjoying the happy hour oysters that were very good.I have never offered a single suggested critique of Vie or Vistro. The only request I have is for the manager of Vistro Prime is to check the barstools at the bar.My barstool was wobbly, and it likely/ simply needs to be tightened up. I’m a handy person and have constructed and repaired barstools; so possibly, the hardware for some of your barstools needs to be tightened up and or repaired. They are beautiful barstools!Other than that, I completely recommend Vistro Prime to every and anyone that receives this review and all my friends and family as always!“
“We can't say enough great things about this hidden gem in Riverside. First, take the tour. You'll learn the history of making Whiskey and Bourbon, Riverside history, and American history. Next, the tour provides you with a base of 8 spirits to try and learn all about. You'll be surprised at what you thought you didn't like but instead, just hadn't had a really great version of that spirit before. Finally, try a cocktail or two. The bartender is knowledgeable and funny and the drinks are out of thus world. You'll want to bring a little bit of everything home with you. Note...if you're not taking the tour, make a reservation! No matter what, GO!“
