Quincy Street Distillery Distilleries • $$

“We can't say enough great things about this hidden gem in Riverside. First, take the tour. You'll learn the history of making Whiskey and Bourbon, Riverside history, and American history. Next, the tour provides you with a base of 8 spirits to try and learn all about. You'll be surprised at what you thought you didn't like but instead, just hadn't had a really great version of that spirit before. Finally, try a cocktail or two. The bartender is knowledgeable and funny and the drinks are out of thus world. You'll want to bring a little bit of everything home with you. Note...if you're not taking the tour, make a reservation! No matter what, GO!“

Menu is full of unique dishes… elevated dumpling and noodles are a signature. Beautifully plated and generous- but not overly. Cocktail menu is fun, with zero proof options that are spot on. The trout was very good, but could have used a heartier veggie pairing like potatoes. Their Bad Romance cocktail was one of my favorites. I probably wouldn't return for a while since the majority of their menu is red meat and cheese (which I don't eat) but perhaps when their menu is updated seasonally, if they have a different seafood option. The back patio looked nice for warmer weather. (Note it is quite a small venue with only 1 bathroom.)“

“We had lunch today at Thattu. It was bustling with almost every table full, but the tables have ample space between them and it wasn’t too loud. The beautiful exposed brick and huge windows cast a warm glow on the modern dining room. They nailed Indian flavors without being heavy or greasy, and the fun fusion dishes we tried, like Indian-spiced tater tots with sulfur salt and beet ketchup are well executed and a lot of fun. It would be easy to eat healthy at Thattu, and I enjoyed the vegetarian combo with vegetable curry, rice, beans, and sauteed Brussels sprouts with coconut. We also tried the fried chicken with dill sauce, and the catfish.Guests order through an app at Thattu, and the cost is inclusive of service. They don’t accept tips. At lunch, you grab your own flatware, napkins, and water from a bar in the dining room. We didn’t mind this. One particularly nice touch was that when we arrived, there were no tables available, and we agreed to sit at the bar. The host said he would let us know if a table became available, since sometimes guests cancel very close to their reservation time. Lucky for us, about 10 minutes after we arrived, the host brought us to a table. It was kind of him to remember our preference and work on that for us. Googling the restaurant later, I realized that the handsome host was co-owner Vinod Kalathil. He’s clearly a wonderful business owner who knows how to make his customers happy.Thattu2601 W Fletcher StreetChicago’s Avondale neighborhood“

“Can't express how rad this place is. Been supporting since their "Togo only" days during Covid. Menu is consistent, yet always offering new variations and items based on the season. Drinks are always icy cold/made with care, and the bartenders/staff are some of the best in the industry. “Sunday lunch was a wonderful experience for several reasons. The restaurant was open according to their posted store hours. A few years ago, this would have been a silly compliment. But these days, we have had several encounters in which we would arrive at an eatery and notice the doors are still locked even though it's past their usual store open hours. Needless to say, service was attentive, friendly, and efficient. Our party of six shared the smoked trout dip, calamari, charred pepperoni pizza, white mushroom and truffle pizza, Italian cheesecake, and tiramisu. The smoked trout dip is a tad high on sodium but I really like how it was served with flaxseed crackers. The pizza are served Romana style, therefore rectangular and fluffy. The crust is thin but with a crunch. Even better, they are half-price on Sundays!“

“We went back to Citrine for pre-concert eats on our way to Chicago. This is a Mediterranean-type restaurant. Cocktails are good, food is good. Service is impeccable. Our server this visit was Theo, and he was attentive and friendly. The other staff from the young woman who sat us to the guys who delivered food and cleared the table were attentive and always gave us a smile. My husband and I started out with a glass of wine and a cocktail. We decided once again to share small plates together. We had the New York strip steak tartare. It's absolutely fabulous so we had to have it again. Fresh steak with a raw egg on top that oozes into the steak as you break it, it's perfection. We also got the homemade lepinja bread served warm with a couple spreads. I can't eat nuts or seeds and it came out covered with sesame seeds. No problem, Theo was more than happy to take it back and have bread made just for me without seeds. That's great service. We then shared the roasted beet salad which had arugula, goat cheese, avocado, and orange. It was a very small salad for the price of $14. Having said that, the salad was fresh and I liked the different textures, but it was the size of a small side salad and not worth the price. I would pass on this my next visit. The final dish we shared was the shrimp and grits. The shrimp were large and grilled perfectly, the grits were creamy. This dish was packed with flavor and some heat. Delicious. Citrine accepts reservations and parking is paid street parking. I definitely recommend this restaurant and you must try the steak tartare. So damn delicious!“

Something about this dirt. Cuz I asked the bartender and he was saying something about the brine, it was somehow floral? He said the brine - not the vermouth. Idc. I just want another one. And then there’s the story: which I never got right, so I will irresponsibly spread it around here to generate more sensation. Something about… the original owner was tragically shot and died on the premises, in the bar. The wife shuttered the place and went upstairs for sixty years. The new owners kept the interior, the bar has original wood work and features. It is o. L. D. In a good way. I have no idea if that story is accurate or true. But I loved believing it while I was in there. What a great thing to be so surprised by a bar on division in wicker park! I love Chicago!“

“enjoyed a delicious meal and caught a fabulous show by brooklyn charmers -- excellent space for live music. FAIR WARNING: there is a small room to the left of the front door from which you cannot see the band (there are video monitors though), so call ahead to make your reservation and ensure you are seated in the main room if you want to see the band.“

“I am absolutely obsessed with this place. The shrimp spring rolls are fantastic and I will be ordering the Khao Soi Gai every week for the foreseeable future. It is incredible!! I tried it for the first time last night (having never tried Thai curry) and oh my god. It’s sweet, savory, the chicken is great, and the noodles are perfect! I had my 8 month old try a bite and he loved it too!! The papaya salad is also super good! I will absolutely be ordering from here again next week. Thank you!!“

“Best Burgers! Took my husband there once and now I can't get him to go anywhere else. His words "Why chance somewhere else when Kuma's is always on point!" The Burgers are huge with a new Burger of the Month that keeps the menu fresh.Every Burger is delicious and totally different making it impossible to pick one. Also you can substitute the beef with Chicken! ? Atmosphere is great with cult classic movies playing behind the heavy metal music. Oh and let's not forget the beer/liquor selection!“

“Rating the service based on the service I received, not the service I didn’t. ?When I came in, it was about 50 min after opening, and service was just picking up due to the concert scheduled for next door. There was one guy was behind the bar who was actively helping the slowly growing crowd, and he took my drink order and made it up for me while I looked over the menu. VERY well balanced drink!!A few minutes after 5, a lady showed up. It quickly became clear that it was both of their first days, because no one knew the discount code for the concert hall staff from next door. How management let that happen on a show night, I’m not sure. ? Rafael handled it like a pro, though.A few minutes after came in and she set her stuff down, Rafael suggested she take my food order while he helped the rest of the people he had at the bar and tables behind me. She turned back to the bar wall and didn’t respond or look in my direction at all. She instead read the menu for a bit, then carried her bank around for a while, then walked to the POS and hopped on her phone for a call. The food & bev manager in me was dying, but I’m not a jerk, so I just waited. And waited. It eventually worked out in my favor because Rafael realized she wasn’t going to help me and continued taking care of me.She finally took on a single bar guest about half an hour after she set her stuff down.Drinks were stellar, and the Bang Bang Shrimp was good! Panko is an interesting choice instead of tempura, but it wasn’t bad!!5/5 for Rafael & Restaurant Atmosphere4/5 for Food3/5 for the MIA management4/5 OverallI’ll 100% be back next time I have a show next door, but I probably wouldn’t stay if it was just her behind the bar. No hate, just very underwhelmed.Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs to enter or get around, and I believe there were low tops near the front, and outside when the weather is good. The tables in the back half are high tops though, so keep it in mind that accessible seating IS a bit limited.“

“Came here on a Sunday evening to grab a couple drinks and food. Drinks were good and at a great price. Good selection of Draft beers. Bartender was friendly and was open to making drinks not on the menu so that was nice. Food was delicious. Burgers were kind of small in portion but if you get fries to go with it, you'll get a huge portion that can easily be split with two people (or just keep to yourself!). Nice vibes inside. Will definitely be back.“

“As always, Chef Paul’s restaurants are right on point. Katherine and I collectively have been to Vistro (Prime) a few times . . . and the food, craft cocktails, and atmosphere make for an excellent social and culinary experience. It was wonderful to see Patrick doing the Mixology while the other restaurant is in process of opening apparently this spring. This time around, Katherine and I stopped by for a craft cocktail, and we ended up enjoying the happy hour oysters that were very good.I have never offered a single suggested critique of Vie or Vistro. The only request I have is for the manager of Vistro Prime is to check the barstools at the bar.My barstool was wobbly, and it likely/ simply needs to be tightened up. I’m a handy person and have constructed and repaired barstools; so possibly, the hardware for some of your barstools needs to be tightened up and or repaired. They are beautiful barstools!Other than that, I completely recommend Vistro Prime to every and anyone that receives this review and all my friends and family as always!“
