“I was captivated by the delightful ambiance of the place. The overall atmosphere, coupled with the delectable food and exceptional drinks, truly made it a memorable dining experience. However, what truly stood out during my time at The Hampton Social was the exceptional service provided by our server, Dave.Dave's dedication to ensuring our time at the restaurant was enjoyable was truly remarkable. His attentiveness, professionalism, and genuine care for the service he provided were evident throughout our meal. It was apparent that Dave takes great pride in his work, and his efforts did not go unnoticed.I believe that excellent customer service is a key factor in enhancing one's overall dining experience, and Dave certainly exceeded my expectations. His friendly demeanor and attention to detail made our visit all the more pleasant and enjoyable.“
“Small footprint with a ton of people coming, so get here early and wait for them to open it check for reservations or some kind, otherwise you'll definitely be waiting!Great atmosphere, great service, and absolutely delicious food. Highly recommend the dry pot chicken as the spices and oils have that great numbing and continuing heat. Only tried one specialty cocktail, but it was top notch as well.Parking: Saturday evening, lots of space on the street for parking. That's a wildly variable thing for an n of one, though.“
“We celebrated our son’s birthday at Indienne and it was a such a wonderful experience!! We had the vegetarian prefix menu and my nephew had non-vegetarian. The food was delicious and each dish was unique and presented beautifully. The service was impeccable. It is a one Michelin star restaurant and I definitely recommend trying it! Enjoy !Dietary restrictions: Separate vegetarian menu“
“Amazing food - while we are sad they closed the restaurant operations, at least they are still open for take out. Show them some love if you can, the vegan/vegetarian community needs to rally for thesefolks.Vegetarian options: These folks are frankly putting out Frontera quality vegan food - and we love Frontera.“
“I don't know where my last positive review is but I'm back here and it's STILL just a good. I was here 8 months ago and got the same thing. Why get anything else when the was SOO good the first time. I just got the classic little wolf burger and fries. That burger has two patties, cheese, pickles and a mayo with pieces of onion chopped into it. I'm not big on pieces of mayo so I get it on the side. The fries come with a chilli pepper mayo and it's THE BEST. I dip my burger in it. It's not spicy as you would think. The fries are great too. Not that crispy which I love but I'm sure you can ask for them to be if you like. Might be the best burger I've had to date. Last time I got the Mac n cheese and I don't recall how that was.“
“I haven’t been impressed with Italian food here in Chicago until now. This place is seriously good. The appetizers recommended by our server were outstanding. Superb flavors. Handmade pasta dishes were very, very good. The final course of pork collar was phenomenal. I would definitely recommend this place over others.“
“The food is outstanding....so fresh and interesting. Kudos for the very good service we received. Our only concern is the noise level that makes it difficult to hear the person across the table. If the noise level could be lowered, this place would be golden!“
“Updated review, still a very solid cocktail bar even if the rules on cell phones and dress code have gotten a bit lax over the years.Menu all around is good and the bar tenders are very knowledgeable. Space overall is pretty quiet and arranged in such a way that things feel very private.Worth stopping by at least onceLook for the recessed door, you could walk by without ever knowing it's there!“
“Been here 2x in 2 mths for birthday celebrations. Every appetizer & entreé has been excellent. Atmosphere is awesome , just wish they would make space a bit warmer, it’s cold in there.Service is great just needs a little more help, I think when it’s a packed night it’s too much for just 2 ladies, makes the check in tables minimal BUT they are wonderful!Vegetarian options: So remember seeing something saying vegetarian but can’t remember but there are appetizers that could make up to a mealDefinitely worth the try!“
“Such a special place regardless of the season. The views can't be beat and the menu choices are interesting. Food preparation is delicious and beautifully plated. It's fun to bring people here and see their surprise at this hidden gem in the middle of Streeterville. Service is attentive and not intrusive.“
“If you're looking for a place to have some great drinks in a super cool atmosphere, this is the place! There are the tiki torches in the alleyway. Then you descend stairs into the basement with neat lighting and skulls. Reservations are definitely recommended but we were able to squeeze in at the bar when a couple was leaving. The tiki bar speakeasy vibes are great. We had a painkiller and gremlins after dark (a fun neon drink). We also ordered the crab rangoons which were so delicious and flavorful (we should have ordered more). We stuck around for a little with our drinks and then walked around the place. The booths also look so cute. And then they even have a little gift shop where you can buy their unique drink containers.“
“Stopped by on a Friday night. Wait time was about an hour which isn’t too bad (can’t make reservations in advance). The burgers are *to die for* and come with a large helping on fries on the side. The other entrees and sides looked great too. Absolute must-try in Chicago.“
“First, and foremost - The Best Dinner I have ever had. Mixed Green Salad - Fresh, inviting and simple. Short Rib Beignets - To Die For! A Beignet stuffed with Braised Short Rib, brilliant. Tar Tare of Boeuf - What carnivore doesn't enjoy a good Tar Tare Ceci Bean Cavatelli - One of the best pasta dishes of my life. Escargot - Is it the snails that make it or the Garlic Oil you sop up with bread? Answer: Either one, just scrumptious. Ora King Salmon - Simple but the Tarragone brunne banc and caviar, and flawless cooking technique, makes this a top class seafood classic. 55 Day Dry Age T-Bone Steak - Cooked perfectly, well seasoned, if you have an issue with this steak, maybe you should of stopped and McDonalds for a happy meal. This in one of the best steaks in Chicago. Roasted Mushroom - Simple and delectable. Boeuf Fat Fries - Amazing, Hot and Crispy. Not a vegan option. BoeufHaus a must visit.“
“Awesome as always! The newly added appetizer, Chistorra y Patatas Bravas, was delicious! It was tough not to order our "regular" appetizer, Sticky Duck Wings. The elk rack brought us back and is a winner! Compliments to the chef and his staff!“
“Overall Thoughts: I went to Amaru for 2024 Restaurant Week, and it had lovely vibes, solid food, and friendly service all around. My friends and I got the cheaper $42 dinner option and felt the value was good— we were stuffed and satisfied afterwards. Out of all 3 courses, the dessert was definitely the weakest, but I really enjoyed the other two courses!- Course 1: Requeson (4.6/5): The soft cheese was delicious; it was creamy and slightly sweet, pairing nicely with the slightly spiced salsa.- Course 2: Mole Y Leon (4.5/5): This was my first time having lion’s mane mushroom, and it was great! The texture was stringy and chewy, and the seared flavors were strong. The yuca was crispy and tasty, and the mole was rich and earthy.- Course 3- Espresso Tres Leches (4/5): Definitely lacking relative to the other two dishes; the cake wasn’t moist enough in my opinion, and the flavor was kind of monotonous.—Price (relative to peers): 4.2/5Food: 4.4/5Ambience: 4.9/5Overall Value: 4.5/5“
“I’m always have a such a special experience here! The manager and my server also made me feel super welcome. I can’t wait to come back! This place has all the good vibes, food and drinks!!Dietary restrictions: Lots of options for dairy-free“
“We visited this establishment for Chicago black restaurants week. According to my partner the fried chicken was phenomenal. The moist cornbread was not sweet with actual corn niblets - which i can appreciate. But the star was the mushroom and grits. I love a good savory vegetarian option. The mushroom had a very nice flavor. I hope this is an actual dish on their standard menu. The atmosphere was warm and would be beautiful during the summer months in Chicago.“
“Service is great! Food is delicious and love the late night availability. We came here after being turned away from another yakitori place, so it was generally great to be welcomed and fed so well and so quickly, especially since we were with a hungry kiddo! Thank you!“
“It’s a great spot for a variety of craft beers on tap, and the ambience is lovely as well. The menu is nice, but it’s a little more pricey than you might expect out of a craft beer spot. That said, I agree on the prices listed after trying the dishes offered. The short rib is delicious, as well as the chicken sandwich. The service did leave a little to be desired, I kind of felt like I was looking around for the individual waiting on the section I was seated in, but overall it has always been a pleasant experience. I would bring guests here maybe the second or third time they visited me in Chicago. Not a first draft pick to represent the city, but it’s a nice place to feel like you’re part of the scene here.“
“A not so hidden gem as of late now that reviews are catching up with the imaginative menu and exceptional dining experience Community Tavern has been consistently providing over the past several years. Menu is full of unique dishes… elevated dumpling and noodles are a signature. Beautifully plated and generous- but not overly. Cocktail menu is fun, with zero proof options that are spot on. Save room for baked Alaska. Oh, and ambiance is chic but allows the focus to be where it belongs. On the food. Upscale West Loop experience in modest Portage Park for a lot less and no pretense.“
“Love that this place is dog friendly! My friend told me that it used to be a house but after it burned down they turned it into a bar. They have a heated indoor patio and outdoor patio in addition to the inside space. Our bartender was fabulous but I didn't catch her name. The drinks were all top-knotch, I wish they had food but they do allow you to bring in outdoor food. We ordered pizza and then a guy selling tamales came around. Overall a super fun night and can't wait to come back!“
“Emmanuel and Rolina rock!Delicious cocktail creations, and a cool vibe. I already love Jaleo, who’d have thought they would have a speakeasy inside their restaurant?Recommended. Make a reservation, ideally. Credit accepted. Try the drinks with the pigs next to them…“
“We got invited to a birthday dinner here and had never heard of it, wow it has been added to my rotation of places i want to come back. Our server Leah was amazing and so attentive, the food was SPECTACULAR. As someone who visits florida often, chicago never has good gulf oysters and these were by far the best ive had in the city and the lobster roll with capers was equally as good.“
“The food and staff were amazing! Such a friendly staff who were extremely welcoming and attentive. I have never ordered ‘seconds’ at a restaurant until today! The tostadas were out of this world and the shrimp taco was delicious. A must try!“
“I recently had the pleasure of dining at Medi Kitchen & Cocktail in Chicago, and it was truly a gastronomic adventure that exceeded all expectations. From the moment I stepped in, the warm and inviting ambiance set the stage for what turned out to be an unforgettable dining experience. To start, I ordered the Potato Borak as an appetizer, and it was a revelation in flavor. The crispy pastry wrapped around creamy mashed potatoes and herbs created an exquisite contrast in textures, and the accompanying dipping sauce added a delightful tangy kick. It was an ideal prelude to the culinary journey that awaited. The Fattoush Salad was a refreshing and colorful medley of fresh vegetables, toasted pita bread, and a zesty dressing that awakened the palate. The balance of flavors and textures in this dish was impeccable, making it a perfect palate cleanser before the main course. Speaking of the main course, the Beef Kabob and Shish Tawook were nothing short of spectacular. The Beef Kabob was tender and succulent, with a delightful smoky char that added depth to the taste. The Shish Tawook, featuring marinated chicken skewers, was incredibly flavorful and cooked to perfection. Both dishes were served with fragrant saffron rice and a medley of grilled vegetables that complemented the proteins superbly. The crowning jewel of the meal, however, was the Fairouz drink. Each sip was a symphony of textures and flavors, a sweet crescendo to an already exceptional meal. What sets Medi Kitchen & Cocktail apart is not just the outstanding cuisine but also the impeccable service. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, offering recommendations and ensuring that every need was met. In conclusion, my dining experience at Medi was nothing short of extraordinary. The culinary artistry, attention to detail, and warm ambiance combined to create a memorable evening. I can confidently give this restaurant a resounding 5/5 rating, and I eagerly anticipate my next visit to savor more of their delectable offerings. If you're in Chicago and looking for a taste of Mediterranean cuisine at its finest, Medi Kitchen & Cocktail is an absolute must-visit.“
“Took a chance and visited The Vig on last Sunday and it didn’t disappoint! It was pretty packed since most people were there for brunch and we almost turned around but we were able to get a table as soon as we walked in. We ordered the southern fried chicken sandwich and fries. It was really good. Great atmosphere and our waiter was friendly and very helpful being that it was our first time there. We’ll definitely be returning to try more food options.“
“It's not just a place to eat but a place to really have an experience that will be sure to leave an impression. The atmosphere, the service, And food all Together make this a classy and memorable experience. The back oyster bar reminds me of New Orleans, being able to step right off of bourbon street. Take a seat at the bar, order and enjoy I'm definitely one of My favorite downtown restaurants.“
“This is probably my favorite bar ever. The ambience is dope. The pictures in the picture frame change. The drinks are amazing! The colors, the candles - this place is just rad! The drinks are really, and the staff is friendly, and super helpful. Oh, and did I mention that they do tarot card readings in the back? This place is so cool. Every big city needs a bar like king of cups!!“
“We had lunch today at Thattu. It was bustling with almost every table full, but the tables have ample space between them and it wasn’t too loud. The beautiful exposed brick and huge windows cast a warm glow on the modern dining room. They nailed Indian flavors without being heavy or greasy, and the fun fusion dishes we tried, like Indian-spiced tater tots with sulfur salt and beet ketchup are well executed and a lot of fun. It would be easy to eat healthy at Thattu, and I enjoyed the vegetarian combo with vegetable curry, rice, beans, and sauteed Brussels sprouts with coconut. We also tried the fried chicken with dill sauce, and the catfish.Guests order through an app at Thattu, and the cost is inclusive of service. They don’t accept tips. At lunch, you grab your own flatware, napkins, and water from a bar in the dining room. We didn’t mind this. One particularly nice touch was that when we arrived, there were no tables available, and we agreed to sit at the bar. The host said he would let us know if a table became available, since sometimes guests cancel very close to their reservation time. Lucky for us, about 10 minutes after we arrived, the host brought us to a table. It was kind of him to remember our preference and work on that for us. Googling the restaurant later, I realized that the handsome host was co-owner Vinod Kalathil. He’s clearly a wonderful business owner who knows how to make his customers happy.Thattu2601 W Fletcher StreetChicago’s Avondale neighborhood“
“From its eclectic cocktail menu to its welcoming atmosphere, this establishment offers a wonderful experience. Each drink is a work of art, expertly crafted with unique ingredients and thoughtful combinations. With its inventive cocktails, inviting atmosphere, and commitment to inclusivity, it's no wonder this establishment has become a beloved spot in the area.“
“Wow, we had the best experience here. I think it’s our new favorite place in Chicago. Draven is amazing, definitely order whatever he recommends. The drinks we got were delicious, unique, and balanced. The atmosphere is perfect for a cozy and intimate evening (during the week, can’t vouch for the weekend). The meadowlark was so much better than any other bar we have tried. I graduate nursing school next month and have decided this is where I absolutely want to celebrate. Love meadowlark!“
“The food was delicious, my husband loved the burritos and the slaw. Also, I don't know the name of the person who served us today. But there were quite a few people and he was alone, with one person in the kitchen, he still kindly served us all, thank you very much for that.“
“Been to Beatnik on the river before, this location is just as good, maybe better. Cocktails were awesome... Mango margarita, a coco whiskey cocktail, and a tequila recommended from the bartender. Bartender was super friendly, attentive and very educated on his spirits. Would definitely recommend.“
“First things first, if you are coming on a Saturday around 8pm get a reservation. We did and thankfully so. The place was packed. We saw walk ins come in and the place had every table full so they were welcomed to the bar but it packed as well. The hostess, security and manager at the time were phenomenal. Friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Just want to shout that out. I wouldn't come to this place for the food but the fries and sliders were good. Come here for the atmosphere which is amazing and the drinks. I had a cosmo and tasted my friends lemon drop. Both were delicious. I'll be back“
“This is a beautiful, romantic, small neighborhood bar located in Lakeview. They have a small but good selection of cocktails with an attentive, friendly staff. Great place for a romantic date or meet-ups with friend for drinks b4 or after dinner. Really enjoyed it and will go back !“
“The atmosphere was more casual & rustic than expected (basically a heated garden shed), and the menu is small, but the food was amazing. The brussel sprouts were delicious. The trout was very good, but could have used a heartier veggie pairing like potatoes. Their Bad Romance cocktail was one of my favorites. I probably wouldn't return for a while since the majority of their menu is red meat and cheese (which I don't eat) but perhaps when their menu is updated seasonally, if they have a different seafood option. The back patio looked nice for warmer weather. (Note it is quite a small venue with only 1 bathroom.)“
“The taquitos are quite good. And the home made salsas are fab. You need to try both! But the tomatillo avocado was my favorite. The drinks were nice and they have a nice local craft beer selection. The piña poblano was spicy and the draft margarita was delicious.“
“Absolutely divine craft cocktails made by some of the best bartenders in the city (Violet hour / Mother's Ruin alumni). Come in on a slow night, get to know the bartenders, let them take you on an experimental experience and you won't be disappointed. The vibe is both chill and elevated, creating an experience you won't forget; whether you're seated at the bar solo or in a plush couch with your favorite person.“
“Ever since I discovered Barabaro, I order it at least once a week. Everything is delicious and fresh, with a good amount of spice. They definitely go the extra mile to elevate the food and experience. For example, the guacamole has some awesome toppings and the chips are seasoned nicely. You can tell the tortillas are fresh too. Definitely a cut above your average taqueria.“
“Can't express how rad this place is. Been supporting since their "Togo only" days during Covid. Menu is consistent, yet always offering new variations and items based on the season. Drinks are always icy cold/made with care, and the bartenders/staff are some of the best in the industry. Supporting the neighborhood/community could be enough, but this spot goes out of their way to build upon what makes Chicago great every time. Daily specials, Wing deals every Wednesday, and burlesque once a month that's CAN'T MISS.“
“Came here for lunch. Not crowded at all, we were practically the only ones there. Had the Zombie Burrito, which was outstanding although pricey. Otoh, it was very filling. I should have saved half for later but it was so good I couldn't stop eating. Bar looks fun, too, so I'm planning on returning one evening to check out the After Five vibe.“
“The coolest bar in Rogers Park! They have a small but fun cocktail selection, great beer & cider selection, super super friendly staff and the best vibes. They have no food but you are allowed to bring any takeout you want or you can directly order to your table from any restaurant you want. Such chill vibes honestly. We were here as a huge group last week for our friends birthday party (about 40 of us) and our waiter has been a saint with taking sssoooo many orders and hand delivering them to the correct person, and with the most fun attitude too! It honestly doesn’t get better than this.“
“Of course, Shanghai Terrace has gotta be top notch as it's part of the Peninsula Group right? I gotta say though this go round, top notch feels like an understatement.Been here several times before and have been wanting to go again several times in the past year and a half but kept having to cancel our reservations till one day we didn't.The service aspect was exceptional. I've never had any problems with service here but this time, they made what has already been fantastic service into exceptional.See, in the past while the service has always been top notch, there has always been this very slight robotic character to it; not this time. This time, their service did not feel robotic at all. They were very engaged, made fantastic recommendations and took care of us really well. The food I mean; there's nothing not to like about it. We had some vegetable dumplings which were simply out of this world. We had a salad which was terrific. We ordered the happy rice (God I need to find out which region of China that comes from and get a recipe. It is GOOOOOOOD) and the noodles with all the meats which too was just amazing. The only thing that was not on mark was the crispy tofu. The first round that came was a little undercooked so we had to send it back. While the second time was cooked right, the outer layer seemed very different than what they have done in the past. The seasoning was a bit off and the outer layer was just thicker and crispier. Other than that though, this place rocks.“
“This is an expensive restaurant in a very fancy hotel in the heart of downtown Chicago. So it’s essentially everything you’d expect it to be. Gorgeous atmosphere with delicate touches, friendly service, and great food. Our server and the hostesses were very polite and checked in regularly throughout the meal. The French toast on the brunch menu was excellent. Lobster eggs Benedict, what could be better than starting your day off with that! Perfect hollandaise and tender yet rich lobster. My only critique as that both the hash browns and breakfast potatoes were very bland- unlike the rest of anything else we tried there. But I would love to come back again and try their dinner menu.“
“I ordered the taco dinner with al pastor and steak. The portions were well served and the salsas they have are tasty. They bring out a small bowl of soup when you sit down and it was great way to start the meal. The micheladas are also great. I will definitely return and try something from their seafood menu“
“We went to Farm Bar last night with another couple and it was so delicious I had to write a review. We started with the cheese curds and we all agreed that they are the best we have ever had. Then we had the salad that was on the Specials list. It was a smear of ricotta cheese with butter lettuce, peas, asparagus, watermelon radishes and a very light, tasty vinaigrette dressing. So fresh and flavorful. The owner came by our table and has a huge farm in Wisconsin so everything is so fresh and menu changes with seasons. My husband had the catfish. He is a southern boy and he loved it. Huge portion as well! Two of us had the cavatelli. Fresh pasta and layered with textures and flavors. And one of us had the burger. He said it was a great burger. Service was very friendly and we didn't feel rushed. Highly recommend Farm Bar!! Can't wait until the summer and the rooftop opens.“
“A nearly 11 year old spot though under-trafficked with excellent brunch on our first time here. The sweet potato omelette was excellent. The turnip omelette was also very good. Chose a side of heartwarming diner style pancakes which have options for add ons (chocolate chips, banana), gluten free, or carrot pancakes. Drip coffee is quite good and surprisingly strong. Service is decidely very friendly and prompt. The atmosphere is relaxed upscale and looks as if they had just opened. Highly recommend.“
“This place offers the most quintessential neighborhood bar feel with more than a few trucks up it's sleeve. From the best smash burger you will ever have in your life (only $6), to Angostura shots, to a booze filled mint green shake you cannot finish, this bar has it all. The staff are happy and have a good vibe between each other which made me feel happy to be there. The place was absolutely packed but no one was rude or pushy. Just a great vibe over all with great drinks and great food. Definitely recommend.“
“This is my absolute favorite neighborhood bar. They have Aviary style cocktails at Portage Park prices and amazing culinary fare. They have the best happy hour specials, and the staff is extremely nice and accommodating. The atmosphere wins the vibe check, and their music is always on point. Not that basic top 20 ish. I hosted my birthday party at their downstairs bar, which has a totally different cocktail menu. Our guests loved the venue and said the service was top notch. The owners are great!“
“Take Flight Spirits is a charming distillery and cocktail lounge nestled in downtown Skokie, Illinois, and I must say it's a hidden gem that has breathed new life into this once-sleepy suburban area. Atmosphere and Decor: Upon entering, I was immediately captivated by the beautifully decorated space. Take Flight Spirits exudes a unique and inviting ambiance that sets it apart from the typical downtown scene. The attention to detail in the decor creates a warm and stylish atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for both intimate gatherings and lively evenings. Innovative Drink Offerings: One of the standout features at Take Flight Spirits is undoubtedly their innovative drink offerings. The menu boasts a variety of unique cocktails that cater to a diverse range of tastes. What caught my attention was the option to have cocktails smoked, adding an extra layer of flavor and sophistication to the experience. It's not just a drink; it's a crafted, multisensory experience. Passionate Owners: What truly sets Take Flight Spirits apart is the presence of the passionate owners who actively engage with their customers. It's refreshing to see the creators of this establishment sharing their enthusiasm for their craft. The owners often take the time to discuss their creations with patrons, adding a personal touch to the overall experience. This level of interaction creates a sense of community and makes each visit feel like a journey into the world of artisanal spirits. In conclusion, Take Flight Spirits is a welcome addition to downtown Skokie, bringing a touch of sophistication and innovation to the local scene. Whether you're a cocktail enthusiast or just looking for a unique place to unwind, this distillery and cocktail lounge is a must-visit. It's not just a drink; it's an experience and one that I look forward to enjoying again soon.“
