“A mix of American and Japanese inspiration, this bright, goat-centred eatery offers respite for both the old soul wanting familiar diner food and the adventurous spirit looking for flavour combinations they haven't thought of.The menu showcases conventional recipes from both cultures, blending their style to create a stranger with whom you're already friends. The waiter was nice and attentive.Dietary restrictions: Has milk alternatives, oat and almond“
“It's like someone said "Let's make the BEST food ever so everyone wants to try it but choose seats that are as UNCOMFORTABLE as humanly possible so our customers stay young and beautiful." Seriously every time I come here I feel like the friend who never gets guys when y'all go out to the bars.“
“Mac’s is the best breakfast spot around ! Been going for years and years ! Amazing management and staff ! Today I stopped in and got 2 bagel sandwiches one with ham one with sausage and as always they were delicious ! The ham is Real ham off the bone no weird deli meat , it’s the best ham off the bone I’ve had anywhere . Food is always hot , fresh , and delicious ! Thank you Mac’s“
“Excellent spot for breakfast with healthy (and delicious) options, strong coffee, and courteous and responsive service. Warm diner setting with option to pay online (QR code on check). The avocado toast with side salad was an excellent meal I most recently had - hit the spot to start my day strong.“
“So many options for a vegetarian!! Usually there's a few options that I can choose from at most restaurants but had heard that Chicago Diner was a meat free diner and so I decided to check it out. I was not disappointed with the sheer number of options both vegetarian and vegan on the menu. There wasn't much of a wait even though we didn't have any reservations which was great because I came in HUNGRY. As someone who has heard how good reubens can be but can never have them as a vegetarian, I was excited to try the reuben on the menu. Service was efficient and our waiter was very nice and accommodating. The reuben was HUGE! It came with a side and I chose the sweet potato fries which were sweet with some salt for a perfect sweet and salty combo. The sandwich itself was a lot.. I think there was too much "meat" and it led to the sandwich falling apart after two bites. The flavor was nice and while I wouldn't get it again, I'm glad I tried it!“
“From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave, the staff here are fantastic. Upon entering we were greeted with a warm good morning from the cooks and the waitresses, even though they were slammed. We took spots at the counter so we could watch the cooks work their magic. Those two were so much fun to watch while we ate. They’re very skilled and put out delicious food. Everything they made looked amazing, from the omelettes to the salads. We ordered a corned beef hash and two eggs with ham and hash browns. Everything was fantastic. We can’t wait to go back!Cash only.“
“Absolutely amazing stop on our Chicago day trip. Sassy all around. Dancing was fun. Kids loved the inside decor and the food was really good. Malts and burgers, and breakfast and chicken...all the Diner foods you would expect. Our server, the Swan F was phenomenal and played to the kids' personalities. We will be back.Kid-friendliness: Perfect spot for families.“
“This was our first time being here. We loved it. It's a small, cozy restaurant. We went there to celebrate my kid's and husband's birthday. We didn't have to wait to be seated. The waiting time for food was good too. The food was great as well as the service. The staff is very friendly. We were told birthday people get free ice cream. So my child was supper happy and got even more when they sang her happy birthday. Well worth the visit. Easy street parking on cicero, although you have to pay, but you might be able to find free parking on Fletcher. The prices are good and definitely will be returning.Kid-friendliness: The menu has a small section for kids“
“Est. 1937Layout/atmosphere*13 seats; one TV; see street through windows; bare bones operationService*QuickFood/drink*The Slinger (two hamburger patties, American cheese, two over easy eggs on hash browns and topped with house made chili) - Good; chili not spicy, lot of beans“
“The new stuffed strawberry french toast is out of this world. I almost didn't get it thinking it would be too sweet, but it was perfect for breakfast for dinner! Server was friendly and attentive and also told me the stuffed waffles will be out soon too! Can't wait to try it ?“
“We have Blondie's right in the town where we live. It has been a neighborhood favorite for years. Family friendly, with great service. The atmosphere can be loud on a weekend morning, so ne ready to shares your conversations. Food is very good, and the prices make it worth the time.“
“Lovely lovely restaurant. First time ever there after going to Sloomoo.Seated quickly, food came quick. Burgers were delicious.Kids menu-for example it came with 1 French toast, that's it. Would have been nice if it came with a fruit cup.The kids serving could have come with just a bit more food. Enough for a toddler but not enough for an 8 year old. Child said French toast was good. Just be aware.Everything was great.“
“This place is your classic home feeling diner. Nothing better than home cooking and that's what you'll get here.Kid-friendliness: What kid doesn't like pancakes? French toast and bacon? Of course, it's kid friendly.“
“Old fashioned diner. Not a lot of circus, the food is as good as homemade (or better).Edit: The original review was from 2 years ago. The review stands - great place to enjoy a well-done breakfast. The staff is always pleasant and helpful. The only thing that I don't like is from a business standpoint - they make paying incredibly easy with a digital QR code. Though this is convenient as all heck, it removes a final opportunity for the staff to interact with the customer and thank them for their patronage. It does create more time for the staff to be of service to other patrons. You don't have to use this option. You can pay the server or at the register. It's just that as a business owner, I would like the patrons to see the staff's smile and hear that "Thank you, hope to see you back again soon." Keep things personal, high tech is ruining us!“
“Pete's Grill is the best breakfast and lunch place ever I have yet to have lunch here yet but every time I have breakfast there I always go for the sausage Patty egg and cheese on wheat hands-down, the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had in Chicago,“
“Best shrimp and grits this side of NOLA. Staff is attentive, food is incredible. If you’re looking for a diner with comfort food this is the place. Very reasonably priced, every week a new special. Soup from scratch. Sit at the counter and watch your food being made.“
“The mango Italian ice is AMAZING. Service is very fast and portions are huge for the price. They were more than happy to sub ingredients for me. I don't usually eat meat so they replaced the meat with my requested vegetables.Dietary restrictions: They were more than happy to modify dishes for me. I don't usually eat meat so they replaced the meat with my requested vegetables“
“It was overly crowded full of noise so already unenjoyable. Then I guess since it was so busy the food we rushed and pancakes undercooked and when we asked for a different set they were more burnt. My other guest didn't even eat it but still paid. The waitress was great though. Do better “
“Me and my wife went there the other night to have some food the food was hot and good but the service was mediocre because she did not pay any really much attention to me or my wife I highly recommend when it comes to the service of the servers at this restaurant that they pay more attention to the customers instead of their cell phones and chit chatting with other people as far as employees“
“Just wanted to write a quick review about our amazing dinner. I've been here once before and remember loving the food. So last week we came out from Chicago to celebrate our anniversery. The Food was amazing especially the entrees. The cocktail list was sooo good along with the wine selection. And lastly shout out to the host/managers and our server Amalia, was absolutly amazing made our dinnig experience A+++.“
“The people are nice and are working hard. I can tell. I stopped in on the way back from Chicago and I had the BEST avocado roll ever. The avocado was so fresh. I don't think you'll regret coming by when you need something easy to eat :)“
“This is a fantastic brunch spot. The atmosphere is really cool, you can go with a small group or you can go by yourself. Either way, you won't be hassled. Staff is very laid back which just adds to the whole atmosphere. This is a place to go if you want to have breakfast and kind of chill.Parking: Parking is on the street off of Clark, and is obviously kind of tight. But if you can park on the side street you would be fine.“
“The Greek salad was Awesome!!! Had everything in it and anchovies upon request! The Grecian Chicken meal and Gyros sandwich Awesome! Don't forget the freshcut fries, nice and hot upon pick-up! We'll be coming back real soon...We're neighborhood folk, and like to enjoy a nice delicious meal away from home, just like eating at home! You won't go wrong trying this place, if you haven't already!Parking: Parking is very convenient...right out in front“
“Service is fast and friendly, food is good and reasonably price. Have a very wide variety of food selections on their menu. There was 6 people in our group and they were able to easily accommodate us (this was on a Sunday afternoon) Kelly was our server and she did a wonderful job of catering to us. I’m planning to come back to try other things in their menu.“
“Old school, simple foods in a relaxing atmosphereVegetarian options: You can alter any dish to not include meat products.Kid-friendliness: No problem bringing children, the booths are roomy enough for 4 adults, even 6 if you add a small table.“
“I was skeptical to come here but one of our good friends says this is one of their favorite places in Chicago. So I was like ok I’ll find something that’s good and typically vegan anyway. I was wrong to try to do that! The Thai wings were sooooooo good and I could not tell that it wasn’t chicken AT ALL. for my meal I ordered the mushroom truffle ciabatta sandwich. Oh my gosh it was sooooo good. One of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. My daughter got the tenders and loved them. She didn’t tell the difference either! If you’re hesitant, don’t be.. this place is so good and I can believe I almost skipped out on it. Also the strawberry kiss drink is absolutely delicious!!! Our waiter (Jesus) was super kind, gave great confident recommendations and was attentive. 10/10 recommend!“
“Went here recently, looks like they've been in business for a long time. The food was ok. The staff is great. Our hash browns weren't browned. They were cooked but soft and limp, so I think you might need to request browned crispy hash browns.“
“Sarkis holds a special place in my heart as a cherished Evanston classic, and after three decades of patronage, it continues to be the epitome of breakfast perfection. While the ambiance has seen upgrades over the years, the magic lies in their timeless breakfast sandwiches that have stood the test of time. The classic breakfast sandwich at Sarkis is a symphony of flavors – from the perfectly cooked eggs to the crispy bacon and the melt-in-your-mouth cheese, each element is a testament to their unwavering commitment to quality. What sets Sarkis apart is not just the food, but the consistency with which they deliver a satisfying breakfast experience. As a long-time patron, I've witnessed the subtle enhancements that have elevated Sarkis without compromising its nostalgic charm. The friendly staff and quick service are additional reasons why Sarkis remains a breakfast haven for both locals and visitors alike.Whether you're a newcomer or a seasoned regular, Sarkis manages to capture the essence of Evanston's breakfast culture. It's not just a meal; it's a tradition, and Sarkis continues to be the torchbearer of that tradition with its classic breakfast sandwiches that never fail to hit the spot. Here's to another 30 years of Sarkis and the timeless joy it brings to breakfast enthusiasts like me!“
“Our team walked in for breakfast thinking it was sit down, but it's all carry out. So we switched gears and enjoyed a great breakfast when we got back to eat it. My favorite part was the pancakes (huge and tasty) and the corned beef hash!“
“This place is amazing!! A former student told me about it! Yes a 7th grader lol.. he told me you gotta go they cook the food right in front of you! Omg the cheese was melting everywhere! Guess what he didn't lie!!! I went late one night with my son after our Christmas flight was cancelled sadly ..12/24 we went in sad, Depressed , and hungry . We left feeling better and full with goodness of grilled cheeseburgers.. fries and fresh shakes! My son got Oreo, me strawberry ! It was the best!! No pictures because we devoured it all!! I took a menu we'll definitely be back! They stay open late too!!!“
“The vast variety of the menu is a reflection of what Chicago offers. The chilaquiles with steak are marvelous, meat is tender, juicy and tasty flavor. Pancakes are fluffy and no too sweet, but not tasteless. The Arnold Palmer was so good! (beats BarMar by Jose Andres, or S.K.Y). The coffee may need some improvements, but it is expected. The staff is friendly, attentive and looks they have a good Team's work. I really like there was no hostess per se, so you are being seated faster. The mural/painting, they have on the back, adds character to the place. The shakes are good, however, they should give you the glass where they prepare them (as ElevenCity does).Interesting, the check comes with the lowest tip option of 15%. They are no longer 24 hours, but the sign on the corner says so.Huge windows are cool and booths do not have small tables,Este lugar tiene un mundo de opciones para elegir que comer, es basaicamente un reflejo de la gastronomia de Chicago.Este lugar tiene un mundo de opciones para elegir que comer, es básicamente un reflejo de la gastronomía de Chicago.Kid-friendliness: They have high chairs and coloring books with crayons ?“
“My mom and I tried Denny's for the first time this morning and I loved my experience here. We both redeemed our free 2 brioche French toasts and it was super good ?. Crispy exterior with a sweet and soft interior so didn't need to add syrup. I also got the everyday value slam with pancakes, scrambled eggs and bacon strips and I enjoyed that too! Bacon is pretty standard, nothing special along with eggs but pancakes were pretty yummy ? though it seemed a little undercooked as the bottom of mine and mom's pancake was a little pale. I didn't catch our server's name but she was super energetic and kind and it was nice to have her there. The atmosphere is welcoming and felt comfortable to eat there. So far this experience 9/10, hope to come back sometime!“
“Delicious food, great service, cute set up. Great prices.Parking: Parking is tight in the lot with only a handful of spaces. You can park on the street and walk. The neighborhood parking is permit only. So parking is frustrating but the food is worth it!“
“Allergy and celiac friendly. Some vegan options. Great old school high quality hot dogs. Unique retro home town and family shop vibes. They know their customers and take care of them personally if needed. My out of town family AND friends always schedule it into their chicago trips. Ken and Danny are caring heroes, too. Oh their stories of pulling women from burning cars, how they took care of their employees during lockdown, and more. Tell them I sent you.“
