“I’m honestly surprised that this restaurant was empty on a Sunday afternoon. Our server was amazing and quick to bring us our appetizers and drinks. “I'm a sucker for Heritage's Happy Hour Oyster for a while so had to circle back for the restaurant week. The whole experience was giving East meets West as it covers a good range of dishes/inspired cuisine. I was pleasantly surprised with how each courses was planned out, with very balanced flavor combinations, leaving me full but not uncomfortably stuffed. My favorite we're definitely the tuna crudo, braised beef and fiancier, hopefully that make the official menu one day. Overall great experience and the downstairs speakeasy space makes it so fun to eat and catch up.“

“Few months late! Came to Penumbra for Valentine’s Day and it was such a great choice. Ambiance set was really intimate, requested the private curtain area ahead of time and it felt like we were on our own place. Felt like a family owned place. The food and service were equally as good and on our way out an employee handed us a small rose shaped soap and thanked us for dining in. We had the bocaditos quesadilla which was the best version of a quesadilla we’ve had, shadow shrimp, a flat iron steak, and surf and turf. We ate/loved everything.“

My pleasure. The owner Zyra gracious and caring. I had Potato soup that was incredible. A Chicken Tostada Zyras moms recipe and she made a couple changes the sauces wow! The steaks I had a Ribeye. One of the best ever. I have dined at all the high end eateries steak joints in the city. This place is a gem. Had to try the desert. We had a chocolate flourless fudge cake. We indulged. “Such a great seafood place, south suburbs, small strip center. I'd heard it was good, today is my first visit and oh boy is this place good the best place for seafood in the whole Chicago area. Yelp showed then add number 51 in the country . Today I had the Lobster Roll, warm. I also tried the fish and chips, both absolutely excellent about the best I've had. This lobster roll is on par with my all time favorite place, Burgundy Square Cafe in Venice, Fl. Both excellent, I'm so glad to know I no longer have to go to Florida to have the best Lobster Roll.I will be back, and often! Luckily Island Shrimp is only 45 minute drive away.“

They bring out a small bowl of soup when you sit down and it was great way to start the meal. The micheladas are also great. I will definitely return and try something from their seafood menu“

We came in a large group and got to try out a variety of dishes, all amazed by the flavors and beautiful plating of the food — the roasted cauliflower (Arnibit), falafel, and baba ghanouj were delicious appetizers; among the mains, we loved the shrimp and lamb skewers, while the mixed grill offered a variety of meats; for dessert, the Knaef was a sweet and decadent standout. The new owners kept the interior, the bar has original wood work and features. It is o. L. D. In a good way. I have no idea if that story is accurate or true. But I loved believing it while I was in there. What a great thing to be so surprised by a bar on division in wicker park! I love Chicago!“

“had an incredible experience at this restaurant! the staff was extremely hospitable and accommodating. i have a lot of food allergies and they were able to make all accommodations and double check everything. the food was DELICIOUS. our table got the Grigliato Misto, a new salad (forget the name but it had an assortment of berries and grapes - SO REFRESHING!!!), broiled lake superior whitefish, roasted brussels sprouts, and a seasonal new drink - espresso old fashion.grigliato misto - 10/10. good portion, great flavor, cooked perfectlysalad - 10/10, honestly could have eaten just this with how good it wasbrussels sprouts - 9/10 the brussels were huge but the flavor was really goodbroiled lake superior whitefish - 6/10 it was fine but it wasn’t anything special. it was missing some flavorsespresso old fashion - 9/10“

“Service at Hemingway's is always wonderful. Onion soup is always outstanding! My husband's steak was excellent. Chicken pot pie was under salted and sort of flavorless. Everything could have been about half the size. Lovely setting, but tables are very close together. On Valentine's Day, the crowded atmosphere was a little overwhelming. I have had better food at Hemingway's on many occasions, so I will still go there and recommend it to friends.“

I can honestly say it was some of the best I’ve ever had. The herbs were perfect and it was grilled just the way I like it. Went in on a Wednesday and, while not packed, was somewhat busy. The server was amazing and friendly. Offered recommendations on food and drinks. We went with the poke salad bowl, and I had the simple fish and chips. My portion was large, and the Poke bowl was plentiful also. Stayed for an extra cocktail also. “Honestly, my favorite thing about this is place is the music haha. I was singing and eating. They were playing 90s-2000s r&b and hiphop which I love. We went on a Saturday, right when they opened. We made reservations for a party of 2, but it wasn't necessary. We did come at a weird time so that could be why. Most people don't eat at 3pm. The seafood was good, I'll have to save it is more flavorful than angry crab. It didn't "wow" us enough to come back again. There's a lot of seafood boil places in Chicago so we're hoping to try other restaurants. Again, this place didn't "wow" us but the food was still good. I wouldn't order the wings again. Nothing special about the wings. The garlic noodles were very good. I would recommend everyone to get the garlic noodles.“

“Pablo, our waiter, was exceptional. During our first visit here, he warmly welcomed us and showcased impressive knowledge of the menu, even extending to items not listed. He encouraged us to customize our meal to our liking, and he certainly delivered! For starters, we chose the grilled calamari and Rockefeller oysters. The calamari was tender and impeccably cooked, steering clear of the typical rubbery texture. Opting for balsamic instead of oil was a perfect choice. The oysters were superb, not overwhelmed with cheese. I ordered the veal picatta from the menu, expecting a thin slab, but was pleasantly surprised by the generous portion size. The angel hair pasta complemented the dish well, although I could have done without the mushrooms – a personal preference, which I should've mentioned. Nonetheless, if you're a mushroom enthusiast, they give you plenty. My boyfriend ordered off-menu, enjoying the Zuppe di Pesce with shrimp, clams, extra calamari, and rigatoni Diablo style in red sauce. It was absolutely amazing and satisfied his taste without being overly spicy. To accompany the meal, I had a glass of the house Chardonnay, which was light and buttery. Even my boyfriend, who doesn't typically drink wine, enjoyed it. Our heartfelt thanks to Pablo and the owner/chef Giovanni for an outstanding dining experience, both in terms of the meal and the service.“
