Everything was absolutely delightful from the great service (Thanks, Abran!) to the fantastic wine pairings (Thank you, Brian!) My favorite dish was the Coquille St. Jacques “En Tuxedo” which was scallop and truffle encased in a butter pastry, swimming in a lavish champagne-caviar sauce. Absolutely stunning! Thank you so much and such a great honor to meet you and your team. George Trois is a MUST VISIT for any true gourmand.”

“Had an amazing lunch today at Spirit Elephant. Started with a delicious mushroom soup, followed by the best buffalo chicken egg rolls I’ve had. Main course was a double smash impossible burger with garlic aioli and Gouda cheese. I was stuffed, but I miss carrot cake so when I saw it on the menu I had to order it. Hands down the best carrot cake vegan or not!”

“The Banh Mi sandwich was honestly one of the best ones I've ever had. The lemongrass chicken was juicy and flavorful. The bread was exactly how it should be (crunchy outside, soft and fresh inside). All the veggies (carrots, daikon, cilantro, cucumbers) were fresh. The sauce was a perfect amount which brought everything together beautifully.”

“If I could give this place more than five stars, I absolutely would. From the moment I walked through the door, I felt an immediate sense of comfort, warmth, and genuine hospitality that you don’t often find anymore. This coffee shop has perfected the balance between great ambience, exceptional coffee, and truly memorable service — and that combination makes it stand out above the rest.
First, the atmosphere:
The interior is beautifully designed: cozy but spacious, modern yet still incredibly inviting. There are comfortable seating options for everyone — whether you want to tuck away in a quiet corner with a book, spread out your laptop and get some work done, or sit at a window table and people-watch. Soft music plays in the background, at a perfect volume that adds to the vibe without overpowering conversations. The space is bright and airy during the day, thanks to the big windows, and feels warm and intimate in the evening with the soft lighting. It’s the kind of place you walk into and immediately think, “Yes… this is where I want to spend some time.”
Now, the coffee — absolutely phenomenal.
You can tell that the baristas here genuinely care about what they’re doing. The espresso is rich, smooth, and expertly pulled; the lattes are silky and balanced; and the specialty drinks are incredible without being overly sweet or artificial. Everything tastes thoughtfully crafted. I ordered a latte (my usual test of a new café) and it was one of the best I’ve had in a long time — velvety microfoam, deep coffee flavor, and perfectly served at the right temperature. I’ve since tasted a few of their signature drinks and each one impressed me: creative, unique, and absolutely delicious.
Their pastries and food deserve a shout-out too.
Fresh, flaky, and flavorful — exactly what you want alongside great coffee. You can tell they pay attention to quality and don’t just rely on pre-packaged items like many shops do. Whether you grab a croissant, a muffin, or something more hearty, everything feels intentional and homemade.
And I can’t forget the staff — truly wonderful people.
Helpful, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. They greet you like you’re a regular, even if you’re here for the first time. They take time to explain the menu, offer recommendations, and somehow stay patient and cheerful even during the busy rush. They strike that perfect balance of being attentive without hovering.
All in all, this coffee shop has become one of my favorite places to relax, work, or meet friends. It’s the sort of spot that makes you want to linger, order one more drink, and come back again the next day. If you’re looking for high-quality coffee, a comfortable atmosphere, and staff who truly care about offering a great experience, look no further.

“Folks with celiac disease are often out of luck at Japanese restaurants, but Jimoto makes dining a total joy. Items are clearly marked with allergens, and tamari sauce is available in lieu of soy. Everything was very tasty, particularly the hamachi sashimi and the Chicago fire roll. Presentation is quietly elegant. Our new favorite north shore restaurant.”

Mark Salmon enthusiastically and creatively arranged for my friend and I to dine outside (our request), despite the rain. We stayed dry under umbrellas and thanks to Sandra, our amazing waitress, we celebrated my birthday with fine food (impressive menu choices and food presentation) and great company! It was my first time dining at 501 Local and this restaurant met and exceeded my high standards in every way! It is a hidden gem and our new fav restaurant. Highly recommend!!”
