“My burger and fries were tasty and very filling! Everyone in my party enjoyed their food! It was very busy when we were there, seating is close together but they accommodate, wait staff is on top of everything, very good and highly recommend!!“
“This cafe is such a find! Delicious food! Lovely wine & beer selection, and fantastic deserts! The staff is very attentive and kind. Will definitely be back when in town! They have a cute patio out back.We tried the scallop sandwich, which was a unique offering. It was delicious! They have great combinations in sandwiches and salads!“
“Great stop when in Michigan City. Large beer list and very good food. I had the Nashville hHot chicken sandwich and it was very good. Not too spicy for most. I tried the fish sandwich also which was phenomenal. Staff was friendly and helpful. Overall a great experience and we look forward to returning.“
“We always enjoy the friendly atmosphere and unlimited popcorn!Kid-friendliness: We bring our grandchildren here regularly. It is our first choice when they are with us. All 5 of them easily find things they like on the menu. They enjoy coloring and eating popcorn while waiting for their food.“
“Not sure why they don't lean into old chicago kinda vibes. No Malört on the shelf but hey thats ok, the patrons gotcha covered if youre lookin to make faces. Outta this world burgers and pretzels for the prices. One of the few bars I feel comfortable in.Edit: I guess theyve started stocking malort since the last time I asked for it! Hurray! I can ruin many more friendships in the years to come!“
“Such an iconic place. We went for the final day and enjoyed their amazing vegan options, the beyond burger and fieldroast hot dogs. We ate so grateful that they offer options for everyone. Looking forward to their spring opening!Vegetarian options: Beyond burger and field roast hot dogsDietary restrictions: Vegan options“
“I recently stopped at this diner during a road trip, and it exceeded my expectations. The parking was plentiful, and there was no wait time at all. It's a charming family diner with a menu that offers exactly what you'd expect, but with delightful surprises. Our waitress was incredibly kind and attentive. We ordered omelets, crepes, and a buffalo burrito, all of which were delicious and generously portioned. After our breakfast, we were full for the entire day. Highly recommend this diner for a hearty and enjoyable meal!Parking: A lot of parking even on weekends“
“Drove by randomly on our roadtrip and decided to try. Glad they have vegan options. Sweet potato fries were so good! All food was freshly made. Good experience:)Vegetarian options: Vegan options available.Parking: About 7-8 parking spots along the street.“
“Staying at the casino and decided to give Galveston Steakhouse a try. We were seated immediately. The menu and prices are fantastic. They had several specials of the day. We ordered the sampler appetizer it came with fall off the bone ribs, jalapeño poppers, mozzarella sticks and chicken wings. For our main course my girlfriend ordered the chicken parmesan and I got the ribs and pork chop combo. This honestly was the best food I've eaten in many years. The pork chop was so tender and flavorful, the ribs fall of the bone and melt in your mouth. My girlfriend loved her chicken parmesan. The portions are huge. The dinners came with choice of soup, we got Italian wedding soup, that too was fantastic. It's been 24hrs since we've been there and my mouth is watering thinking about it. Everything from the staff, service and food was perfect. We will most definitely be back.Parking: Ample parkingWheelchair accessibility: Galveston Steakhouse is wheelchair accessible.“
“It was my first time here. It was about a 5-minute wait to get seated.I had water and menus in a few minutes and within 10 minutes of arriving my order was taken. The establishment was full and had multiple tables of seven or more people.I would say it was only about 15 minutes from the time I got my order into the time I got my food. The wait staff was excellent and so was the food.Highly recommend this place.Dietary restrictions: There are multiple choices on the menu for people who have restrictionsParking: Multiple spots Big parking lotKid-friendliness: There are lots of kids having breakfast and it was family friendlyWheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp out of the parking lot that goes right to the front door.“
“Went here for breakfast today. I had Denver omelet it was huge and delicious, I could not finish it so took it home. Wife had pancakes and biscuits and gravy, biscuits and gravy she said were just okay, pancakes were very good, I am not a big fan of pancakes but tried a bite and they were really good...again huge portions so we took the pancakes home with us. Service very good...if an area again, we would come back and try some other dishes.“
“There was a wide variety of options for everyone's taste. We came across this place right before the dinner rush. It's very close to the lighthouse outlets. Our drinks were nothing extraordinary, but the food was full of flavor. Our server Brittany was great, even when there was a little mix-up in the kitchen with our meal.“
“We walked into a packed house last night at Joe & Freddy's Bar & Grill in Michigan City and for good reason.Famished, we ordered Calamari and Potstickers right away. They were much to our delight I must say! Ultimately, we decided on the Sea Bass special feature for our dinner. The Sea Bass was perfectly cooked, served atop plump and crunchy asparagus, finished with a lemon sauce and the wonderfully briny flavor of capersthat created an explosion of flavor that had us oohing and awing all the while. The charred lemon on the plate was pretty impressive, too!The delightful Mandy, our server, was on point throughout the evening while maintaining her beautiful smile, mind you, on a hugely busy night.Joe & Freddy's delivered big time last night. We even had the pleasure of speaking briefly with the talented Chef, Ismael, but not the uber talented Nicole Bissonnett. We'll save that for the next time!“
“Stopped by here yesterday to get myself a butter burger and was annoyed to find out I was charged $0.40 for condiments. Sorry but what? When did I have to start paying for my ketchup for my fries? Who doesn’t eat fries with condiments? Ridiculous. The burger was delicious as always and I enjoyed my flavor of the day. I’ll obviously still return because I love the food; but just an annoying observation I found on my receipt over my ketchup request.“
“4pm on a Wednesday my wife and i ate at craft house.I had a bowl of chili, which was very hearty with lots of meat. The flavor was good, but nothing special. My wife had a cup of French onion soup she said it was good. We both had the yellow perch dinner. Our plates were delivered quickly and piled high with thick meaty fillets and side winder fries. All were cooked just right. The side of Cole slaw was very good. We had enough food left over for another meal. Our 2 soups 2 meals and 2 waters $57. We will be back.“
“We were on our way to Downtown Chesterton for some antique shopping and decided to give Gastro 49 a try for lunch. It is pretty typical bar tyoe fare, burgers and such. The burger was generous and wdll seasoned. The pulled pork was good as well. Service was friendly.“
“Excellent place to eat but now it's a guessing game as to when they're even open. Was told to look at event calendar and it's not even correct. Why is this place always closed with such great food and service. If anything update information. Sad as we always liked eating here. Good luck on rolling the dice.“
“A restaurant that is quite busy with visitors in Michigan City with delicious food, chopped steak, perch basket, ruben sandwiches etc. at a very reasonable price. At lunch it is very busy. Coffee and drinks that can be refilled also make visitors very “
“The Village Tavern in Porter: A Cherished Pub with Timeless Appeal The Village Tavern in Porter holds its place as the second of the three original pubs in the Chesterton/Porter area, a testament to its enduring charm and appeal. This classic establishment epitomizes the spirit of a traditional pub, offering a warm, welcoming atmosphere that feels like a second home. One of the Tavern's standout features is its outdoor seating, perfect for enjoying those pleasant days and evenings. They serve up some great cocktails, and while they don't accept reservations, the laid-back vibe makes it worth the wait. The food at The Village Tavern has always been a highlight, with every dish embodying the essence of delicious, comforting pub fare. Their Italian Beef sandwiches, in particular, are something of a local legend. I grew up on these sandwiches, and they remain a nostalgic favorite, packed with flavor and always satisfying. Cleanliness is a notable aspect of The Village Tavern. Both the restaurant and the restrooms, albeit a bit snug, are well-maintained, ensuring a comfortable visit. For entertainment, they offer a pool table and darts, adding to the pub's classic feel. The staff here are not just friendly and efficient; they're part of what makes The Village Tavern so special. I've known the owner and his wife since I was a little boy, and their kindness, friendliness, and generosity have always been a cornerstone of this establishment's character. In summary, The Village Tavern in Porter is more than just a pub; it's a community landmark where memories are made and cherished. Whether you're there for the excellent food, the delightful cocktails, or the friendly atmosphere, this pub is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the heart of the Chesterton/Porter pub scene.“
“Very impressed by this cool little neighborhood bar and restaurant now under new ownership. Great tap beer list, delicious food. We had the chicken wings and cauliflower bites. The place is clean and modern and looks like the place to be once the outdoor patio opens. Service was friendly and attentive.“
“The service was friendly and quick. The food portions were ample. The selection for lunch was varied. Everyone in our group tried something different and everyone was pleased with their selections. We highly recommend a stop if you like to try local places.“
“We have now been twice. The food was made perfectly and served hot. The menu has a lot of interesting choices that you don't find everywhere. The prices are so reasonable. The staff is friendly, efficient and attentive. The diner decor is so cute. It is eclectic without being cluttered or disheveled. The coffee is delicious and they send you out the door with a cup to go.“
“I should have taken photos of the food but forgot! My daughter and I stopped in at a weird afternoon time while taking a break from shopping the outlet mall. The service was friendly, price was more than reasonable, and food was delicious! We had a pizza and breadsticks, both were great but those breadsticks are awesome! We will stop in again when in the area this summer.“
“My new favorite! Date night at Cheers for the comedy show was perfect. We got there early and had dinner. The service was excellent from start to finish. Every seat was filled and yet the speedy service never slowed down. The staff all wore a smile and were very attentive and seem to really be enjoying themselves. The vibe was casual and very laidback. The food came out quick and hot and absolutely delicious. The pretzel is a must have! Our drinks were too good to have just one, the beer was the coldest I’ve ever had. Squeaky clean, even the bathrooms were spotless. I can’t wait to go back, my husband said this is our new go to! Great new spot!“
“My wife and I went there for my birthday and it was not a good experience. We placed our order for ribs and were waiting then noticed the couple that came in 20 minutes after us received their ribs then 2 other people came in about 40 minutes after us and ordered carryout ribs at the bar. Their order came out. We got skipped somehow and asked them to box our order up which took another 10 minutes. We ended up eating at home after “going out” to eat. We spent 86.00 and didn’t appreciate being skipped over. We have always loved the food here but probably won’t be back for a while after this experience.3-30-24Gave them another shot today. Everything was on point! Ribs were awesome!! And our server Aspen was great!! Renewed my faith in this place!! Ribs are some of the best we’ve ever had!! Looking forward to returning soon!!“
“My go to. Even though we're regulars, I'd still go; I love the food..the people.. everything. Best chicken fingers and pickles ever!!! 5 dart boards and an outdoor patio for when the weather cooperates.Great bands on Fridays too!!“
“Stopped in for lunch on a weekday. It wasn't overly crowded, and it was easy to get a table. Several vegan options which is unusual for a lot of places. The red bean quinoa burger is excellent. The service was great, and the staff was friendly. Love that they have multiple styles of beer“
“Nothing but top cheffing with fabulous quality going on here. Excellent service, extremely friendly staff and right on Lake Michigan. Checking all my boxes!!I followed chef Nicole here after experiencing, and now mourning the closing of, Bartlett’s in Beverly Shores… recently finding out she now owns this place. Next stop, her latest endeavor, the taken over Rt12 roadside bar, Joe Freddie’s!“
“After a day of hiking through the Dunes, we were happy to find a restaurant with 4+ stars. The ratings were true. Our waitress was very kind and patient with our questions about the menu. She was prompt on refills and a delight to talk to. The food was good and we will definitely stop back by when we return in the summer for a new Dunes experience.“
“Best restaurant and bar in Michigan City! Hands down!Parking: Prices beat the living hell out of any restaurants in the City, down home customers, excellent staff even when busy. Food fantastic, amounts proper, dine in here one time, you will find you will go to fast food places far less. No place else beats their prices. Locals love this place. And their parking lot shows it.“
“1st time here, so kinda limited in what we tried from the menu. Great pizza! The crust is a bit crunchy, but soft inside. Wonderful!! The toppings were nice and fresh and plentiful. A good amount of cheese on the pizza too. Not skimpy, but not overwhelming either, just right. Also tried the Spinach Galette, which was awesome!!! and the onion rings are good, but the onions themselves (inside the onion rings) were a bit tough to bite through. Good flavor and crunch on the breading though.2 kinds of Italian sausage ( 1 mild, the other slightly spicy), but with big containers of crushed red pepper on the table, a bit more heat is never TOO far away!Vegetarian options: Like most pizza joints, options for vegetarians are plentiful!!!!!“
“Carlson's is a gem in our community! It has been an icon of summertime in Michigan City for decades. Rootbeer floats, chili cheese dogs, breaded mushrooms and bags of salted fries - all evoke memories for me as my favorites there among a big menu. Like of mid afternoon food on the way home from the beach as a teen or young adult, or an evening stop on mild night out for a drive as grandparents, the food at Carlson's is fun and just plain good! It's the kind of place you find yourself saying in March, is Carlson's open yet? And when they close down after the season, it's a bummer. So my advice is go to Carlson's frequently and go now to make those memories and enjoy awesome drive in food!“
“Amazing! Great bar and restaurant. Location is prime, love all the room and outside portion. Excited to come during the summer. The decor and open lighting is just brilliant! Great spot for a party, date, or get together.Service is excellent, staff works great together. Drinks are delicious, they have creative cocktails and a wide variety of beer to choose from!My absolute favorite thing was the oyster shooter! Try it! I’d get it as a cocktail if I could!“
