Homemade root beer shouldn't be missed, and between the dogs, burgers, pork or chicken, there's American favorites for everyone. I got my polish sausage Chicago style, and it really hit the spot! The picture doesnt even do justice, and dont worry- they didn't forget my pickle and sport pepper!“

“Truly AWESOME catfish! It was perfectly fried, nicely seasoned, moist, and the breading (crust?) was top notch. I must say that, for me, this is the best catfish I have had in Northwest Indiana. They are also serving a very good coleslaw. I don't easily find good coleslaw and this ranks way up on my list of sources. This was my first visit and will definitely return.“

“We needed a nice sit down place to have dinner on our way from Chicago to Grand Rapids Michigan. My wife picked Leeds. Great choice!! We had the Flo Cho nachos and the Cubano Panini. The nachos were terrific!! (The wife commented again how good they were on again on the way home!) The Cubano Panini was good. I'd order both again... especially the nachos!! 👍😁“

“Been eating here for years and recommending them for years if you want the best burger in Chesteron/Porter area. Some other favorites are the bacon wrapped poppers, steak or chicken flatbread, soups, and the only place I know that still has homemade pub chips. Just had my first ever minor issue with a cook on burgers and the owner addressed it and made it right. I am looking forward to their new bi-weekly specials to try some new items. “We were there on a Tuesday evening and there was ample parking right outside, which was great. Service was attentive and friendly. The food was very good. The pricing seemed a little high for what it was. They were out of perch the night I was there, but they substituted walleye, which was very good. We were told the walleye was from Canada, which is a little disappointing when we were in view of Lake Michigan. The walleye and fries was $30, which was the same as the lobster roll (which they were also out of). Either one was overpriced, or one was underpriced. Maybe that's just where we are with restaurant pricing. The menu had a lot of great options though. Good variety. For 3 people, no alcohol, 1 appetizer (sweet potato fries) and 3 entrees after tip was ~$125.“

“we stumbled on this gem last summer for the first time and just went back for our 5th time yesterday and we live 3 1/2 hours away! the food is consistently amazing, everything we try we love. The staff is stellar 24/7 crem Bru le 👌 magnificent! fish camp is the highlight of every trip we come here to visit! if you like watermelon tey the watermelon margaritas! You won't be dissapointed!“

“By far the best Italian beef in town*** The staff is always friendly and the riff raff is kept to a minimum. Overall it's a great place to munch and grab some beers. They have live bands on the weekends if you're looking for live entertainment. I highly recommend trying if you haven't.“

“Those who travel on I-94 and I-80/94 from Illinois to Michigan and vice versa will never know about Leroy's unless they divert their travels to U.S. 20. There in the town of Porter lies Leroy's, roughly a mile east of Exit 22, a place we frequently passed by over the years but never checked out – til last nite. And though a wee bit apprehensive upon arriving, those hesitations quickly vanished upon entry.

I read thru all the one and two star reviews and disavow them all. Admittedly it can get noisy in the main area (wherein lie the bar, band stage, pool tables and some seating arrangements), which you have to pass thru (a bit awkward) to get to the main dining area, (quieter but not totally devoid of noise). Compounding the noise factor were a few babies who let everyone know how they felt. But it wasn't too long before they stopped crying and the band concluded. However, regardless, none of it deterred me, my mixed race son or his black mom from having a memorable time. Whatever noise existed was compensated by a pure delightful atmosphere. Not quite what we expected but it was so cool.

From the moment we sat down (open seating) at the one remaining unoccupied booth (nice and comfy) til departing, all three of us had a wonderful time. The food was just simply darn good. The combo plate (mine), the chicken con queso (my son's dish) and chicken en mole (his mom's) were all tasty with good portions and fairly priced, something you don't often see these days. The salad was especially notable since all premium greens were used, no head lettuce or romaine. Impressive. The salsa could perhaps use a little oomph and structure but not at all bad. The complimentary chips looked homemade and blended in nicely, though they could have used some salt. We did initially ask for our chips instead of them automatically being delivered but as soon as we finished the first batch, a second was promptly delivered to our table. We also had to request sour cream as it didn't come with the meals but was also quickly brought to the table and also at no charge. The pop and free refills, served in decorative glasses, rounded out our great visit.

But as much as the food was worth what we paid for, equally memorable was the attentive service from the git go. We could not have asked for better. Nicole, our waitress, was superb thru and thru, perfect. Same with Brandon, her husband, who looked to be a supervisor and came to assist wherever needed (as he did with the bringing of food and drink). Brandon also took time from his schedule to chat with us at breaks and in doing so, he hit it off with us. Not something we obviously expected but we loved it. A great guy as well as his wife. Both individuals were the faces of Leroy's and they sold it oh so well.

We all don't have that kind of money to eat out that often but with the fine food, decent prices (good amount of selections for under $15) and unusually good service we'll have to find a way to soon return to Leroy's. Despite the noise, very highly recommended and worth the drive, regardless of whether you live in Hoosierville or just passing thru. Leroy's Hot Stuff is good stuff.
