Let me start by saying this loud and clear: I’m from CHICAGO, so I know breakfast — and I definitely know the importance of REAL Parker House sausage. Finding that outside of Chicago is rare, so when I saw it on the menu at Paige and Charlie’s Restaurant in Gary, I already knew this place was special. And they did NOT disappoint.

From the moment we walked in, the customer service was top-tier — warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. You can feel the pride they take in both their food and their customers. The atmosphere was comfortable, the energy was positive, and the service was fast and friendly.

Now let’s talk about the FOOD — because WOW. The Parker House sausage was absolutely on point — fresh, flavorful, and cooked exactly how it should be. This was a true Chicago-style breakfast experience, delivered perfectly in Gary. Every plate came out hot, fresh, and filling, and everyone at the table was impressed.

But here’s the part that truly blew our minds…

We came in as a team of 7 from Unlimited Taxes, and the ENTIRE group ate breakfast for LESS THAN $60 TOTAL. In today’s economy, that is completely UNHEARD OF. The pricing is hands-down the most reasonable breakfast pricing around, especially considering the quality, portion sizes, and outstanding service.

“Disappointing..the chili/koney sauce was very salty to the point it was nesrly inedible. ..I think since it was late afternoon, it simmered to the point where it became concentrated due to evaporation and it needed some liquid to even out the extreme salt content... the dogs were good, the chili cheeseburger was almost impossible to eat..so messy. Fries were.probably the highlight of my visit the lady behind the counter was excellent though 👍👍 Great service I probably would try them again though....possibly the saltiness was an anomaly“

“If you’re talking top-tier steakhouses in the Midwest, Council Oak Steaks & Seafood is firmly in that conversation.

I’ve been there multiple times for different occasions, and they’ve been consistently on point every single visit. The seafood tower is a standout fresh, well-presented, and exactly what you expect at that level. On the steak side, they don’t miss. The 28-day aged bone-in ribeye is packed with flavor, the bone-in New York strip is cooked perfectly, and even the grass-fed ribeye holds its own, which isn’t always the case at other places.

We’ve worked through a good portion of the appetizer menu too, and everything has been solid no filler items, just quality across the board.
Service matters at this level, and Sam always delivers. Attentive without being overbearing, knows the menu, and keeps the experience smooth every time.

Bottom line: consistent food, strong execution, and reliable service. They haven’t disappointed yet and that’s not easy to say after multiple visits.“

“Flamingos has been in town for a long time. Nice little cozy place. A good perch dinner. We like a thin crust pepperoni pizza. The flavor of the pizza dough reminds me of Onos which was one of the Best pizza places, that has a Great flavor to it that you can not find anywhere. The cheese is stretchy when hot. Good flavor! They’ve added a stylish cigar lounge featuring Winfred Owens Cigars from Estelí, Nicaragua, along with some incredible premium infused cigars you won’t find anywhere else. “This place has a good variety, wonderful staff, and the Food is decent ! . The desserts are good. Gelato tastes amazing. They had fried ravioli, bread pudding, brisket, ribeyes cooked to order, came on a Saturday evening . They had Cajun ettoufeè with shrimp, chicken ,and sausage. Fried shrimp tasteless, just tastes like oil. I didn’t try the Mexican inspired station , but it looked to have fajitas and all the toppings. Spring rolls not good. Marinara sauce was good.“
