“We recently hosted a rehearsal dinner and welcome reception at Rye Leawood and we had an incredible experience. From early on in the planning process to the event itself, the experience was expectational. They went above and beyond. India, the Event Manager, was so helpful with the planning of the room design, food menu, and beverage menu. Everything I requested she delivered on - the perfect layout of the room to accommodate the rehearsal dinner followed by the welcome reception to the entire menu being gluten and dairy free. She answered every email in a timely manner and met with me multiple times to over questions I had. She was so great to work with. The food was delicious! Every dish from appetizers to desserts was beautifully presented and so flavorful - I didn't know GF/DF could be so delicious. We have received so many compliments about the menu. The service was outstanding. The staff was so professional. They know how to work an event - incredibly efficient and attentive. Our guests were well taken care of. The entire event ran so smoothly. If you are looking for a venue for your special event, I highly recommend Rye Leawood - amazing food, outstanding service and an incredible experience. Our event was unforgettable. “Really interesting place. Watermelon and tomato salad reminded me of caprese and I had beef heart for the first time in my life. The bartender was really friendly and the rye cocktail was expertly made. Very different from what I usually get. Love it. Would go again.“

“This is a must stop gem for a date night or just to kick back and have fun. He blends upbeat fun times with music that hits your soul. He also teaches you about the history of jazz in kansas city and really about how each song came to be. This was a genuinely a fun time that I wish would have lasted longer. “I just want to say what a GREAT experience I've had dining at Hemma Hemma! I've been there twice so far, and have been consistently impressed.

This past week, I joined a friend for lunch, and we both want to formally thank Dana at the front counter for being so welcoming, gracious and helpful. I accidentally knocked over the menu holder, and she reassured me that it was fine and happens frequently. My friend and I split the bill for our order, and she cheerfully rang up each of our portions separately. She guided us through some of the menu options which was much appreciated as there were some new items since my last visit.

The food here is FANTASTIC!! I can't remember what I ordered on my first visit (but I do remember that it was delicious!); this week, I had the Brookside Buiddha Bowl, which was AMAZING! Even the presentation was wonderful (see attached photo)! All the ingredients were delicious, and the flavors melded beautifully, and it was so satisfying; it kept me fueled and focused during a long afternoon at work. My friend had the Pickle Chicken Bacon Ranch salad and said it was mouth-wateringly fabulous.

The weather was nice enough to sit in the outside patio, which is well-appointed (even a free water station); the first time I was here, I ate indoors and the dining area is light, airy, and expansive, with plenty of room between tables and quiet enough to chat.

Having such a healthy, delicious restaurant in the neighborhood is marvelous, and I'm already planning my next trip back to Hemma Hemma! Thank you all SO much!“

Our server, Lauren, was top-notch: attentive to every need, full of great recommendations, and wonderfully warm and engaging.
Head chef Megan was just as lovely—so friendly and welcoming, and incredibly talented. Every dish we tried was fantastic. The manager checked in with us to ensure that we were having a good experience.

The chicken wings were a delicious surprise—an unexpectedly refined take on a familiar favorite. The mushrooms in the fried rice were to die for, and the sushi rolls were amazing. We can’t say enough good things about the food.

The atmosphere made the evening even more special, with pottery, exposed wood, great music, and even a bathroom that felt like an experience of its own. I wanted to move in. We can’t wait to come back! Thank you.“

Collin (I hope that’s how he spells it)was amazing and attentive, I ordered the steak bowl and the steak was cooked to perfection (medium) and the Cherry Margarita was amazing!!!!! “We did the 4:30 distillery tour and it was really fun! There is not much walking and an elevator available for those that need it. Our tour guide was very interesting and he did a great job of teaching us about Tom Pendergast and also about the liquors that they distill. You can start with a drink in their bar and carry it with you throughout the tour if you like!“

“We chose to dine at Grand Street - Plaza on a recent Tuesday due to good experiences in past years, close to KC Rep theatre where we were going afterwards, and convenient, free parking. Though their normal parking lot is torn up, we had the choice of attached parking garage (very convenient after entrance is found) or parking on the other side of the building. We enjoyed house salads, the trout and salmon main dishes, and house drinks (happy hour prices). The lady who served us did a great job.“

“Local Kansas Citian....stayed this weekend with my husband and had an AMAZING time! The room was spacious and clean! Bed was super comfy, and it was actually very quiet! We could see the city life below from our corner room, but most of the noise was completely blocked out! The hotel bar and the terrace bar were both amazing! And breakfast at the hotel was to die for! We will definitely be staying again!“

“Staying at the Hilton Presidents Hotel in downtown Kansas City we stopped by the Drum Room located on property and accessed via hotel lobby or its side entrance. Good and atmosphere were so good we ate there 2 times. Started with Fried Goat Cheese and Beet Salad and finished with the KC Beach Burger with garlic fries and Meatball Farfalle pasta dish. All were amazing and didn’t venture far on our second visit and skipped the salad as the 3 items were way too much on the first evening. Second evening we shared a bottle of Sav Blanc from N.Z. Amazing.“

Great service and people that seem to love their jobs made our experience memorable celebrating birthdays & an anniversary. Food was excellent and the 10-layer carrot cake knocked it out of the park. Needless to say, we will back! Coming in from Wisconsin and ending our trip at Ocean Prime made the weekend!“
