I am currently sick right now, and what I needed was my mom’s homemade caldos, and the Tortilla Chicken Soup was the perfect fix to comfort me. The Horchata latte is my favorite in town, it’s the perfect subtle sweetness. Also…my family is from Latin origin and they typically don’t like eating out because they can’t find a suitable taste that feels like “home”, and let me tell you their taste buds were satisfied. They are willing to travel a little farther than usual to experience savory Latin inspired food. “I come here frequently after getting groceries, one lady remembers me now and knows exactly what I order. I tried something new and it was delicious, I went to reorder it today and I accidentally ordered a tea instead of a latte. It's run by Foster, Adopt, Connect building, a local non-profit, and former foster youth are intentionally employed as staff. Their staff is kind, thorough, and a joy to interact with! Equally important- their food will blow you way! The soups, salads, and sandwiches are made with quality ingredients and there is no skimping on flavor. My personal favorite is the BLT on wheat-- we're talking 8-9 pieces of bacon and it might just be my favorite BLT in the city. Pair the cute side salad, any soup of the day, or a homemade cookie and you're guaranteed to have a great day. I've taken several friends and the takeaway has been that everyone has loved the meal they picked. They offer several bread choices and a few non-meat options. It's perfect spot to meet with a small group of colleagues or friends- there are several small tables, high tops, and a couch area to accommodate groups of 2-6. Everything comes out of their kitchen very quickly, so it's a great add to your work week lunch rotation! Knocked off a star due to limited seating and when we ordered our coffee no one told us to wait at a counter (they deliver the rest of your food), so we ended up not getting that until we finally asked. When we did ask the server she just said oh they call your name (music plays loudly inside so no way you can hear unless you're right there) and leave it at the bar for you, and then she walked off.“

“We love Maps Coffee. We visit 4 to 5 times per week. It’s a great locally owned artisan shop and they roast their coffee in-house. I wasn’t a coffee drinker at all until Maps got me hooked. They also make their own chocolate and you can really taste the difference in quality from big-batch commercial chocolate. The staff is friendly and welcoming and within a few short visits they will call you by name and know your order. We always have great conversations with Vince and his team. I highly recommend you give them a try.“

“Take Care is a new coffee shop located in the Crossroads. We went on a Sunday morning to grab coffee and work on some wedding stuff. It was nice that it wasn't took busy and we sat at the bar. I love the no tipping culture not because I am against tipping but because it means they are paying their employees responsibly. The staff is so nice and we ended up talking to them for awhile while we sat at the bar. They didn't offer any GF pastries when we were there but their biscuits were amazing! They also had a scone that looked delicious but I decided I had to try the biscuit after hearing about it. There are several butter and jam options. We both enjoyed our coffee and got a lot of work done during our time there. I will 100% be back.“

“So many babies!! This cat cafe is perfect. The cats have plenty of room to roam around and can get some private time if they need it. This is the most chill I’ve seen cats in this environment. There are plenty of seating areas and even with a few different groups of people you can spread out and not feel like the area is crowded. The coffee was also very tasty and they have lots of merch you can buy. I would highly recommend visiting if you need some cats in your life.“
“My mom grew up in the Waldo neighborhood and went to this location as a child. I was so excited to be able to preorder a cake online at the last minute for her birthday. I arrived in town, swung by McLain’s, the cake was ready and perfect, and I was off to her last minute, surprise lunch! The cake tasted amazing, was super moist, and was really pretty. I paid $7 for a regular vanilla latte and that’s with no substitutes like almond milk, oat milk etc etc. I would recommend just be aware that you might be paying a little extra for coffee versus other locations.“

“This was our first time visiting and we really enjoyed the experience. The coffee was good and the atmosphere was chill. Easy place to grab a table and have a chat. We got an iced brown sugar latte and iced chai latte with oat milk. The 20 oz size is as small as I’d go. We also tried a yogurt parfait and Quarantine cookie (Guinness Stout Chocolate). The cookie was delicious! They also had a great rooftop seating area, although we didn’t get a chance to head up there. Only complaint is that the kitchen was closed, although that could have been a schedule thing that I didn’t check.“

This location has the roaster on the floor for all to see with tables near it for cupping and what seemed to be coffee education courses. In the primary shop area, you will find everything you can think of in terms of motorcycle accessories for the most part along with your coffee essentials. Had my typical cortado and it was solid. Unfortunately they don’t serve it traditionally with sparkling water. Worthy visit if you are ever in the area.“
“It's 7 am and hot Blueberry Lemon Scone with a glaze just came out of the oven and is resting on the counter next to the register. You pretty much have to try one.The scone is delicious. I tend to ignore scones because I feel like they are a bit dry. This was still warm so it was moist in the center with a nice crunch on the edges. The blueberry and lemon flavors are equal and compliment each other perfect!Pour over Mexico Cerro Azul. This one was recommended as being a bit funky. It's awesome. I feel like there is flavors of cherry and bourbon. It is smooth and lightly roasted. I highly recommend!Decaf- this is what I drink daily and it was only available as an Americano. This is a light roast coffee with smooth flavor and great taste.The staff is friendly and spent time talking with a local person who seemed to be down on their luck. “This is my go-to "work from home" coffee shop for a few hours in the morning. The drinks are good, but I've always been a fan of Roasterie Coffee. The only reason I didn't give them a 5th star, is they frequently turn up the music around 8am to an almost deafening level for a coffee shop. It's rather obnoxious and usually forces me to leave so I can continue to concentrate.“
