Absolutely loved this place! I came in craving some good Mexican food and left completely satisfied. I had the quesadilla and tacos — both were packed with flavor, fresh ingredients, and just the right amount of spice. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and what really stood out was the service. Our server, Jose, was fantastic — super friendly, attentive, and made great recommendations. Highly recommend this spot if you’re in the mood for delicious food and great service!“

“1/25/2025 First time here. Wonderful experience. The food was incredible. We had 2 special items for the week..the chicken tortilla soup and Alambre tacos. Food was fresh and extremely flavorful. The taco tortilla was lightly fried and was crispy, not gummy like most. We had the Elote(corn off the cob) topped with a lime Crema maybe that was the best I have ever had. Margarita was delicious and a large glass was only $9.00. The place looks small from the outside but dining room is open and pretty large. “El Barril is a really awesome Mexican joint we found in Mount Adam's in Cincinnati. It had both indoor and outdoor seating but on this day we decided on the inside. The restaurant looks really super fun with lots of tremendous decor with even the chairs being unique (and comfortable too.) They had a lot of unique takes on Mexican dishes (lots of unique burgers on the menu for one) as well as some classic favourites. We started with an appetizer of Buffalo Chicken Dip which was a straightforward take on it. It had lot's of chicken, a very flavourful but not too spicy Buffalo sauce, and some blue cheese mixed in. It was served with chips. This was as good of take as I've had on a Buffalo Dip that I've had from anyplace. For my main course I tried the Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos which was 3 hard tacos served with grilled shrimp topped with spicy Bang Bang sauce as well as cilantro. This was very unique but very delicious all the same. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and that sauce I would describe as zesty with a slight punch but not too much. Really liked them a lot. My wife enjoyed her Margarita as well as her food (I believe it was a pork dish but I forgot to take a picture). This was a super fantastic lunch and I for one can't wait to come back.“

We are "older" folks, so perhaps diners who like this kind of music would enjoy it. Again, the food was very very good and the location - right outside the Aronoff Theatre - can't be beat for convenience.“

From the food to the music, I liked everything about the restaurant but what makes the restaurant is the service, the waitresses do not look overworked which makes the service fluid and friendly. I'm mostly pescatarian these days, but sometimes I still like to order the steak fajitas with the bell peppers and onions, the beans, rice, guacamole, and warm flour tortillas. It's a nice treat sometimes and it has only ever come out exactly perfectly (to my eyes and taste buds).My own niece absolutely adores this place because of the fish artwork. “Amazing authentic street tacos! Best tripe tacos I've ever had, lengua and cabeza tacos were to die for. The hot sauces are made in house and delicious, the red one is chilies and peanuts which I've never had before but was amazing! We can't wait to go back and try EVERYTHING. They have squash flower and corn smut tacos which are more options you don't often find outside of Mexico. Very happy with this place and you should go support them!! Didn't even think about taking a picture until we had devoured everything 😅“
