The small submarine burger is very filling and very satisfying. The store is very considerate. There are paper towels on the table for wiping your hands, and there is a comfortable space inside.

“Mike & Patty’s is a staple in Boston. Everyone is so welcoming and the food is to die for. Don’t try to be healthy and make sure you order the Bfast Grilled Crack with a big cup of coffee. Eat at the counter (only two seats) or take your sandwich outside and stroll the village.“

“Review: A Confusing Experience on a Rainy Day

On a rainy day, I recently visited a local place called "Toasted Flats" with high hopes for a cozy meal, a warm drink, and a bit of respite from the dreary weather. While the coffee I ordered was soothing, my experience quickly became puzzling and frustrating.

I had ordered a toasted flatbread, something I was really looking forward to. However, to my surprise, the woman serving me informed me that I wasn’t allowed to eat my flatbread. I could drink my coffee, but apparently, eating my meal was not permitted. She mentioned that the establishment had been open for eight years, which made me wonder how a place could be licensed to sell food but somehow not allow customers to eat it.

At first I thought she was joking with me, quickly realized she was not.

The whole situation left me confused, as it seemed like a bizarre, contradictory policy. How can a place sell food, but then restrict your ability to consume it? It felt like a strange contradiction.

While I can appreciate a business's need for rules and regulations and licensing, this experience left me scratching my head. I won’t be rushing back anytime soon, and it certainly didn't leave me with the warm, welcoming feeling that a rainy day meal should. Maybe next time, I'll do more research and find a place that will let me eat my food in peace, rain or shine.“

“What a great hole in the wall spot!! Went here on a whim and I was NOT disappointed. $7.50 is really reasonable especially in Boston for a good banh mi! Tons of customers while I ate, which is a huge good sign. Service was super fast, bread was crisp and the pickled veggies were delicious. I liked that you can customize how much of each ingredient is in your sandwich. I got the pork belly banh mi, there were some chewy bits (fat, maybe?) I picked out- regardless, overall delicious. The shrimp rolls with peanut sauce are also amazing! I do wish more bottled drink options were available, but the sandwich was my main focus for the visit. Will be coming back again for an affordable and delicious meal :)“

My parents were here for my dad’s surgery and we stopped in for sandwiches that we all loved (and mom is PICKY). We ended up coming every day while dad was in the hospital and Nick and Georgia asked us how he was doing and were so kind that we are all seriously going to miss them. They have great sandwiches, smoothies, ice cream, milkshakes, pasta and salads. I went and redeemed my card and purchased 2 bags of chips and a Diet Coke. When I get to work I check my account and he charged me $11.77. I assume he forgot to give me my free sandwich and go back. He then goes on to tell me that the bags of chips are $2.50 each, he charged me another $2.50 because I asked for hot peppers on my sandwich. He then says the 20oz soda is $4.25… I know he arbitrarily made up these prices on the fly as I was obviously a frequent customer and none of this matches up to my previous purchases. If you don’t want people to get a free sandwich don’t have the card.“

“Al's is an institution you simply must go to. Amazing sandwiches and portions for great prices. If you work downtown and haven't been here for lunch, you've made a terrible error.

If you're a hungry tourist looking for lunch, skip quincy market and come get a taste of Boston's authentic sandwich scene. You may even run into the Al, the national treasure himself.

Just a warning, it's potentially the most chaotic restaurant in Boston and if you are going for the first time.... good luck.“
