“We were recommended Scoop N Scootery by a chef's wife who couldn't stop raving about their sundaes, and I have to admit, it was worth the trip. I'm not usually someone who craves ice cream, but my girlfriend is the opposite, so we had to check it out. The moment we walked in, Harry Potter was playing on the TV, setting a nostalgic and fun vibe right off the bat.

We went for their “Gannondorf” sundae, and it was a showstopper—blueberry ice cream, a brownie base, blueberries, pie crust, and a mountain of whipped cream. It was indulgent, and the quality of the blueberries and toppings really stood out. We’ve already ordered it again because it was that good.

They have an impressive lineup of ice cream and froyo flavors, plus even more tempting sundaes to choose from. My only wish is that they made the ice cream and toppings visible—being able to see what’s available always helps me get in the mood for a treat. The handwritten chalkboard menu is a bit hard to read and feels a bit overwhelming, especially with so many options.

It’s a massive space with very little seating, most of which are bar tops. It would be nice to have some lower tables and create more of a community atmosphere.

“I recently checked out Van Leeuwen and it was such a delightful experience! Their homemade ice creams are incredibly creamy, with fun flavors. “Since they opened in the early 1980s (could any ice cream be better than Steve's I wondered back then?), they have been hands downs serving the creamiest and tastiest ice cream in the Boston area. My go-to flavors are any of the ones with hazelnut (nocciola & gianduja -- which either they are now calling nutella or they have added yet another hazelnut flavor -- and all of their chocolates, especially Belgian chocolate, the occasional orange-chocolate, and Mexican chocolate). There's nothing like that to be had like these in most of the rest of the local ice cream shops. “I would definitely recommend a visit here. I tried creamy yummy sugar free ice cream that was not icy or taste like chemicals. I also had a great normal sugar but super sweet blackberry ice cream. I wish I has a little more blackberry flavor. I also had a scoop of ginger ice cream which was unfortunately a little icy and the ginger flavor was a touch muted, but still tasty. Staff let me sample each flavor and I got a cute little bowl so I could walk and eat it on the nice hot July4th day. The atmosphere- it is a place you grab and go and it is small, a narrow shop you might miss if driving a bit too fast. They have pints for take out and are willing to make you one in house if they don't have the flavor in the freezer. For about $8 a nice place to stop in. Definitely worth it.“
