“This is the first review I've ever written (seriously!), and to be honest I'm writing it as I sit here with a friend of mine looking at the website, talking about miscellaneous stuff (like me not having ever written a review), and I was telling her about when my partner and I went to Zuzu's Petals a couple of years ago (my friend will be in Cambridge soon and I was giving her a recommendation).

We love this place! We're not regulars as we only go to Boston occasionally to see my partner's sister and family, but whenever we're in town we try to go at least one night. It's so refreshing to have a space with no phones, at least for a little while, YA KNOW?!? Of course I'm writing this on a screen, so the irony is not lost on me, but a break from screens? I'll take it.

Last time we were there the record player (vinyl, of course!) was playing Bowie, Stones among others - again, refreshing to hear full albums - and I think we had a cheese plate and few glasses of wine and of course dessert. It's always been a nice time for us and we highly recommend! And thus dear reader we reach the conclusion of my post: my friend and I both agree, since I'm sharing this restaurant suggestion with her, why not share it with the world?!?!? (Like I said, it's my first time and this was fun to write...)“

“Everything about Limoncello’s is terrific. I started back in the early 2000’s having lunch when visiting family that lives in Chelsea. Then we came this past summer for my son’s 10th birthday. We dined there Friday and Saturday night this past weekend because my son loves it so much. If you haven’t tried it, then get there! It’s the best I’ve had in the North End! Maurizio is a gentleman and his family treated us wonderfully. Chico is a great server and LuLu is quick witted, kind, and BEAUTIFUL! Every staff member was great…especially one person that really made my boy feel special.“

Adjacent to Bricco Panetteria is Bricco Salumeria & Pasta Shop, another establishment by Frank DePasquale. This Italian deli specializes in homemade pastas, sauces, and a variety of imported goods, including olive oils, vinegars, and cheeses. Notably, Bricco Salumeria is acclaimed for its Italian sausages, which are made in-house using traditional spices and methods. The shop also offers made-to-order sandwiches, allowing customers to enjoy their freshly prepared meats and cheeses on the spot.

“Always a friendly encounter with the staff. They ask what you want,they make it literally right in front of you and you pay and eat. Nice and hot the way it should be. No hassle no waiting. Whenever I'm in East Somerville I stop in no matter what to give them business. I try to help out the local stores. They have been doing things for yrs here and if it ain't broke don't try to fix it. Thank you for always being reliable and consistent. Hard to come by these days.“

“Mark and Toni's might have a bit of an outdated atmosphere, but their food is really really good. I eat out about once a week, and this is usually my go-to place 50% of the time. Their side of chicken tenders is the best in the area, the meatless sub is super well balanced and has excellent flavor, and they have good other things too (fries, chicken parm, etc.). I will say that their pizza is mid.“

“An impromtu visit to celebrate a work win. Always a fantastic meal, my wife's favorite steak prep method with the butter on her ribeye. The creamed spinach and au gratin potatoes are big faovorites too. Wine and coctails were equally satisfying and very well prepared. Service was very polite and timely but not obtrusive. Never an easy task and usually a challenge keeping our teenager's water glass full and napkin supply sufficient! We'll be back again soon!“

“Not only was it AMAZING authentic Italian but our server Luis P made our dining experience over the top! Everything looked so good on the menu that we decided Luis should surprise us with what we should eat. He asked a few questions about allergies and preferences and then surprised us with different dishes. He has great taste! He also knew what wine to pair with it. He is outstanding and next time we come we will ask for Luis P!“
