“Stopped at Essex Seafood, for the first time, yesterday. I can’t say enough good things about it! The building, inside and out, is immaculate! Once you get inside, the help is courteous and kind! “Lena's opening is the final sign of Spring! ❤️ The food is amazing. And I am VERY picky about seafood. I have lived on the ocean my entire life. Have always had access to the freshest possible seafood. I won't even eat any fried seafood while Lena's is closed for the winter. There is one other place that is very good but their prices are insane! The family that owns the place is fantastic...as is the staff. They even helped out my mother with the mercy meal after my father's memorial. Just to give you an idea how good it is. I will eat there at least 3 times the week they open....and I do the same the week they close.“

Drinks are just as good--$2 draft beers are always on special, which makes it even better. And yes--free popcorn! It's always a nice touch and makes the whole experience even more enjoyable. What really stands out, though, is the service. The staff checks in often without being overbearing, making sure you have everything you need. “After ordering we had a nice half-loaf of brown bread with butter.

I ordered the baked scallops with onion rings and Yukon mashed potatoes. The scallops were tender and cooked to perfection, with a generous breadcrumb topping. The onion rings were that perfect blend of crunchy batter and tender sweet ring. The potatoes were nicely seasoned.

My wife got the haddock sandwich with fries and a French Onion Soup to start things off. The soup came out with the meal and our waitress was apologetic saying they'd tried to get it to come out beforehand, but unfortunately they finished at the same time. Not a big deal to us as we were hungry and it took a little bit for the soup to cool enough to eat anyway. The piece of fish was large enough to bring half home for another meal, and the fries were also generous and tasty.

Next time, I want to try the clam chowder, maybe a smaller portion entree, and head across the street to Down River Creamery for an ice cream dessert!“

“Went there a couple days while I was at my friends place in Methuen while I was staying long distance from my home in Brockton. Amazing food, kind people, and great atmosphere. Great drink selection too I made some friends there too. Definitely gonna come back next time I’m in town. They make the best burgers in the entire state of Massachusetts“

My major critique would be the breakfast potatoes served for breakfast and brunch for the amount of money you're charging you would be well. served to actually make them fresh (they currently seemed like something you would buy in bulk in a bag in Walmart and just throw on a pan in an oven no seasoning, clearly premade, store-bought, lowest quality-more like potato chunks, not even home fries) and including the bread assortment as part of the breakfast would also be a nice touch the fact that you have to pay for that now - when it used to be included - is just kind of ridiculous when the prices are much higher than anywhere in the area and I know we're paying for the view but like it's still silly! I will say your lunch salads are a wonderful deal!“
