“We’ve been coming here since the pandemic where we first got take out. The food is always great with good level of Sichuan numbing spice which complements the food flavor. Our favorite dishes are the mapo tofu, twice cooked pork, mala fish, and chengdu spicy chicken. Best to eat in! The owners are very nice and always welcoming. Highly recommend!“

“The food was so good! It was the first time I have ever had Szechuan food and now it won’t be my last. I have seen people here in the past but never ventured in to try it out and I have lived across the street from it for two years. They were so nice and accommodating. They added vermicelli noodles to my stewed tofu and shrimp and I was so grateful.“

“Absolute best sichuan chinese restaurant in town. The flavors and dishes are authentic and if you love spice, this place is a must visit in Boston. I can say with confidence that every single dish on their menu is a treat and an experience in itself and the staff is helpful and knowledgeable.“

“We were here on a cold night. It's a beautiful family run restaurant. We absolutely loved the atmosphere and food is delicious and most authentic in town. Their ingredients are FRESH and just in the right balance. We loved the hostess who is a very kind and humble person. She treats you like a family member and is so friendly and welcoming. This is our go to place for comfort and nourishing food ❤️🙏“

“Stopped in for dinner on a business trip.
Mall architecture with some Asian artwork.
I expected a cup of Wonton Soup because it was $3.95. It was a big bowl and could have served as a meal itself. And it tasted great. Cashew Chicken was good.
Recommend.“

“Really clean. My friend comes here very often, she’s a super picky eater. She said that the frog leg tastes different than how it usually is, the owner overheard and offered to make a new dish for us. Super nice employees and service. Their soy milk is made from home as well(free to drink and refill). Overall really nice experience. It’s my first time eating here.“

“We have a new office in Boston. So periodically I drive down from our main office to the Boston location and every time I do, I have resolved to try a new restaurant. This was today’s choice and it was SPECTACULAR! My server was fantastic. The food came out quickly and was insanely good. I didn’t know how big my stir-fried rice cake bowl would be so I ordered the sweet and sour pork loin to go with it. But the rice cake bowl was huge and tasted incredible. Lots of heat, lots of fresh prepared veggies and meat. 10/10 would recommend that dish. The pork tenderloin I tried and 10/10 would recommend it as well. The location is a bit small and that is literally the only nit I can pick. If you’re in this area, get some take out or eat in , you won’t regret it!!“

“I’ve been to Five Spices many times. The food is delicious, but I often have some intestinal distress afterward, possibly from the oil. Still, it’s tasty enough that I go back occasionally. The deep-fried chicken with red peppers is especially good.“

“8/19/25
- Crab Rangoon: crispy, filled to the brim 10/10
- Shrimp Har Gow: uses a little more sugar, and more grinded up than I like,
- Beef Fried Rice: just not my style of rice, made well; not enough of the wok hay for me 6/10
- Salt and Pepper Shrimp: thick and juicy shrimp, mildly crispy outside, seasoned well 8/10
- House Special Beef: was oversalted, weren’t able to finish it.“

“My 100% go-to for hot pot. Sauce bar, all-you-can-eat, huge menu, and great service. What else can I say? You’ll be eating within five minutes of sitting down. Also, don’t forget the to-go ice cream if you eat in! Ibasaw checks all the boxes when it comes to hot pot.“

“Enjoyed our impromptu dinner with girl gang of 7.
Freshly prepared food with authentic flavors.
The place was beautiful and had lovely vibes.
The portions were super huge . We ordered multiple dishes to try all flavors and were super impressed. Definitely recommend of you are in the area. There was a fried fish appetizer Sichuan style that was a clear winner 🏆. Free parking lot was added bonus“

“everything we ever ordered has been fabulous. and the service is excellent.“
“Generous portions for cheap! They give a lot of rice which fills you up, but a decent portion of main dish (I got pork and tofu). The main dishes are a bit oily, but they taste very good. The pork had a decent amount of lean meat as well as fatty, which is good. I wish the tofu had a little more taste, but it was still good. Food came very quickly. The soup it came with was too salty though, tasted like salt water. Everything here was around $12 which is a good deal! Recommend for a quick but filling meal.“

“Mala Restaurant is a well known Chinese restaurant serving mala dry pot and other spicy dishes near the Packard's Corner area of Allston.
The service is quick, there is smaller tables at the location so it may not be for larger parties, but take-out is an easy process and comes out quick.
We got the mala dry pot, squid skewer, and szechuan noodles. The szechuan noodles was packed to the brim, though all the oil sat at the bottom so mixing it within the container was not feasible, and it was dry on top without the mixing. The squid skewer was good, chewy with a nice flavor and seasoning. The mala dry pot stood out, not too spicy but can add more spice if needed. The portion sizes is good, with the small being in one container and large being in two. For the price, they give you a decent amount.“

“The dumplings were really yummy and fresh. Our noodle soups were okay, nothing impressive though. I liked the flavor of my sour and spicy broth. It was yummy to try hand pulled noodles though hated how much they stuck together. Crab rangoons and egg rolls were really average here.“
