“Update 22 Mar 2026: Another awesome meal and this time we enjoyed it with our friends.We are huge fans of this restaurant. Unfortunately, the waitlist timer is still way off, which makes planning to get there on time a bit challenging. The first time, I joined the wait list, it showed 30-60 min but our table was ready in 10 min or so. the next time, it showed 30-60 min but our table was not ready within that time frame.

June 2025:
Since we discovered this restaurant last month we have already eaten here twice. The food, the atmosphere, the seating is so amazing and so authentically Japanese. We loved the ramen, takoyaki and pop corn chicken. Make sure to reserve in advance as they get busy even on a working Tuesday..“

“I’ve been coming to this business for years. Since 2000. Except, in 2000, this review would get 5 stars on the account of a cheaper pricetag for items and more food for your buck. Today, you’re paying more for so little. PROS: Friendly staff, delicious food. Welcoming atmosphere.
CONS: Certain items are pricey. Less food for that high price tag.
I will continue to come to this establishment despite the prices because the service and food itself but I wish they’d shave a few dollars off on some items.“

“Asia Mei is easily one of the best Chefs in Boston. I've eaten here several times, but I can't believe that I haven't written a review before now! My husband and I had brunch at moonshine 152 last weekend and told friends about it. Next thing you know, the four of us were in there around noon time today having brunch again. We shared three starters, alongside sharing all four entrées and everything, I mean everything was to die for! Ms Asia herself delivered some of our plates and she is just as delightful as she is talented. Needless to say, dinner is amazing here as well. The vibe in the restaurant is so easy and you can tell that the staff get along very well together. What I can't believe is how this place wasn't fully packed today or last weekend even. Definitely a good amount of patrons, but I've had brunch at places that are hard to get into and left much less satisfied.“

“Very flavorful sandwiches and salads. I had the chicken pita, my family members had the vege chikn hummus dip with pita, and the falafel sandwich. All of which were delicious and full of flavor. Very friendly staff. Clean atmosphere. Will definitely be back if I come back to Boston. Very small inside with only a couple tables so be mindful of party size if trying to sit. The to go boxes for the sandwiches were very convenient though!“

Every dish we had was outstanding. The seafood pasta special with seabass and calamari was exceptional—perfectly prepared and packed with flavor. The squash appetizer was another highlight and set the tone for a meal where every course felt carefully crafted and unique. From start to finish, the food was creative, balanced, and simply delicious.

The service matched the quality of the food—attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming without ever feeling rushed. It’s exactly the kind of experience you hope for when dining at a private Italian restaurant where the focus is clearly on great food and great hospitality.

To cap it all off, the post-meal limoncellos were excellent and the perfect finish to a memorable dinner.

Craziest thing of it all is the pricing. Four slices, arancini, and a drink for $16.00? How? In today’s economy how are they keeping the price this low? Also amazing. Just go. “One of the most flavorful meals I’ve ever indulged in! Love the vibes there, and that everything is healthy and organic. Impressed that the prices weren’t too high either! Was just traveling through Salem on vacation in September & glad I found this place. Highly recommend. “Incredibly thoughtful, knowledgeable, and attentive staff. Every dish was absolutely delicious, highly recommend the scotch egg and the duck if you go in March. Cocktails were great as well. The atmosphere was cozy and upscale without being stuffy. They were also very kind and accommodating around my wife's rare food allergy. Just an amazing meal and experience all around.

“Food was great! Service was not. Took about 20 minutes to get our first round of drinks. I ordered the soup to start and had to wait 10 minutes for a spoon after it was delivered. We had a couple online gift cards to use and even though there is an QR code listed, there is no way for the restaurant to scan them...so the waitress had to write down the number and run it manually. She had the manager come over to tell us one of the gift cards didn't work and we needed to call some number to sort it out. I suggested we double check the gift card number first and was told in a condescending tone “we can but we have this issue a lot”.....she had written the number wrong so it was their fault. It was just a really disappointing experience at an upscale restaurant that we have visited a lot in the past. They also took the bohemian cocktail off their menu and that was the best!“
