The restaurant is calm and quiet, and always plenty seating available.

The server who took care of me was warm and made sure to check in regularly.
Food’s always cozy, portions are generous, and their banchan’s top tier, which they bring out first while you wait for the food.

My favorite personal go-to’s always boil down to gamjatang or kalguksu - but you really can’t miss picking anything off the menu.

“What a Fantastic experience! I've heard about GG's for awhile and have wanted to try it. Brought my 3 daughters, son and grandson, all very picky... Food was awesome, apple cider slushies delicious and especially the bourbon apple cider slushy. Highly recommend! Remember, this is a cafe... Not a restaurant, so if you're looking to be taken care of constantly, that isn't this experience. The staff though is very responsive to everything and available. We absolutely will be back!“

“You know the best food comes out of the little holes in the wall restaurants, right? Unpretentious, even hard to find if you follow Garmin GPS, but amazing food. This is it, the little gem of Ethiopian food off the beaten path in Ellicot City. Never packed in the restaurant, but always a pickup order going out the door. Beef, lamb, chicken wots (stews) plus vegetarian dishes are all available. Don't know what to order, just ask. Don't forget the doro wot for the fun of the hard boiled egg. Veggie sides give your mouth a break from the spicy dishes so you can dive back in. Take your Tums if this is new to you. If raw beef kitfo doesn't appeal, just ask them to cook it.

Even a little shop next door for you if you want to try your hand at Wots at home. Yes, you do want to try it. Warm stews simmering away on a cold, snowy day while you shovel snow, come in and grab some injera and go to town on warm and spicy stews. Oh yes. Don't forget to give your cardiologist a headache and make a batch of Shiro on the side because no one needs that much butter, but damn it's good when you do.

If you've never had Ethiopian food before, grab a friend and go here. Its quiet enough that you won't get lost in it all. Then hit the Ethiopian places around the Baltimore Symphony Meyerhoff building to advance your experience. Then go full on, hit up Silver Spring aka Little Ethiopia for the full immersion experience.“

The eating area is very plain and no frills, but it's sufficient.

The bulgogi was very tasty. The dumplings were nice and crispy. Everything came out hot. The garnishes and mini soft drink at the end were a nice touch.

I thought my bulgogi was a bit heavy on the onions. And the dumplings could have used a little sauce. But overall, highly recommended.“

“Very welcoming place. Unpretentious. Drinks were delish. Espresso martini! We love seeing people of varied cultures, just hanging and talking with each other. I was reluctant to get the ribs because I read a review saying they were dry. Mine were delicious. It wasn’t a saucy rib, and that’s how I like it. I’m sure you could ask for sauce. Husband had steak and rice. The staff is very accommodating. The onion rings were great. Wish I had some left! Plenty of TV’s to see a game in the bar area. There is also a dining room area away from the tv/bar area. Comparing this experience to a Navy Yard sports bar yesterday, we enjoyed today’s Bare Bones meal over yesterday’s DC sports bar hands down. Our server was great. Friendly, quick and respectful. It was like going to your friend’s house for a meal. We’ll be back…Definitely to watch some football this season. The garlic sauce we ordered as an appetizer alone would have satisfied me but the food just keep getting better. So fresh and so flavorful!! The owner introduced himself and made us feel so welcome. Their story is incredible! The ambiance was absolutely lovely. They had live musicians who were extremely talented and added a tone that was fun and enjoyable but not at all overwhelming or too loud. The service was impeccable. I cannot recommend enough! We will definitely be going back very soon!“

“We come from York County pa, originally from Maryland, but we live in PA now we stumbled upon this place and it’s absolutely wonderful. Fish cakes are amazing. We’ve been getting the appetizers and they just are so filling and wonderful. I highly recommend 10 out of 10.“

“This was my second time eating here. The last time was years ago, and they didn't include lettuce with the BBQ, which was one of the reasons I started going elsewhere. However, my sister chose this restaurant for her birthday, so we gave it another try.
I'm happy to say they now include lettuce! The banchan was decent, the kimchi was delicious, and the BBQ was excellent. We ordered the second combo with the samgyeopsal and marinated beef. My brother-in-law did the grilling (as usual!), and I ordered the large naengmyeon (cold noodles in a delicious icy broth). I ate until I felt like I was going to explode!
The only downsides were that the space felt a bit cramped, and the prices were slightly higher than the other Korean restaurant we usually visit on Bethany Lane. Nevertheless, the most important thing is that the food tasted authentically Korean. 😋 The waitress was also very attentive, which made the experience even better.“
