“The carryout is always clean & neat. The food is always delicious- at least all the dishes I've ordered before. Some say it's as if a DC carryout moved into MD. I've been ordering there awhile since I work in the area. ???“

“The food is wonderful. I had hot and sour soup, sweet and sour shrimp and egg fried rice. Everything was delicious. I had the lunch special. Prices are very reasonable. I will definitely come again and maybe try something new. I was very happy with my experience. Parking is easy and plentiful. A great experience.“

“I went to High Point and used to always go to this carry out after school. I’ve been craving chicken wings and mumbo sauce for weeks now and decided to come after 10+ years. Food is still good, just wish the wings were bigger and it came with more fries for $9.50. Their steak and cheese egg rolls used to be really good too. Need to try it next time I come.“

“A cute place in a cozy spot filled with joy and anticipation. The menu changes often so, if you look online and salivate at one of the photos, there is a good chance what you desire has morphed into something else. But fear not, the chef has surely created something new you willingly dive into.
I had the beef short ribs Chinese style. As my mother would say, when she is commenting on a dish, it was nice. That is a higher praise than most, but I feel it was appropriate for this dish. It wasn’t what I was expecting for a place with such high accolades. More like Korean Kalbi with Szechuan spice. Just a suggestion, maybe work on the presentation and add some coconut sugar to the marinade to balance out the flavor of the dish. It was served with an apple slaw that was also, nice, as it was the tangy acidic element to the dish. As the meat was spicy and the slaw tangy I was left yearning for that great balance of flavor great asian food has—spicy, sweet, tangy all in one bite.
I also had the lotus dumpling and that was delightful— maybe the same critique, just missing one thing, but I can’t put my finger on it yet.
The food was good and would definitely go back if I could find a nice date (almost impossible nowadays unless you pay upfront). Service was excellent and the ambiance made you feel warm and welcome. You should try this spot and order a lot more than I did to get a true experience of what this place has to offer.“

“Very friendly and lovely owner! The food was absolutely delicious and everything was prepared by him personally. I didn’t think vegetarian noodles could be made in such a way, but the dish was truly excellent. The same goes for my husband’s dumplings. We enjoyed everything very much. I highly recommend it to everyone!“

“Been scouting this place for about 3 weeks for a birthday dinner. I called over a week in advance for a party of 7 - 13 people. They were able too accommodate and the food was GOOOOOD! That hotpot was smokin and I thought I choose a milder one but it was excellent in taste for me. Now this was the first time I have had it so don't come at me if it doesn't hit you taste buds the same.“

“❣️Wow, wonderfully delicious.
Had Starla as a waitress and she was simply such a gem, was very timely with everything. Sweetly explained the menu and gave incredible recommendations!
Because of her attentiveness I would 10/10 visit again.
The food was delicious, bubble tea flavors and pearls were fresh and simple. I would say it leans more toward an America flavor pallet depending on your selection but Im sure there are some sophisticated options if that's where your pallet tends to lean.
I got the chai latte light sugar&ice and my hubby greatly enjoyed Starla's PineappleMango suggestion. So yummy, so fun.
I love the bright decor and semi-exclusive dining options; certainly would love to meet the family here during an outing.
The bathroom was super clean and had a large mirror great for freshening up.
Certainly would recommend for DC visitors.
I got the Lucky dumpling back. Personal favorite of the bunch was the black Truffle so I know next visit which basket I'll lean more toward.
✨️BONUS: Their bowl, cups and utensil charger had a very elegant weight to them which was incredibly comforting and added a coziness to the experience.
All in all, great spot for mid-day nummies🥟🧋☺️👍✨️“

“I had to stop eating to post my appreciation for this restaurant. This is my second time patronizing them: first time I sat in for a quick bite with my sister, and this time I ordered for pick up. Both times service was quick and friendly. The restaurant itself is simple, almost cafeteria-like, but the staff is kind and accomodating....and the soups are delicious! So delicious that I stopped after 2 sips to write this review. 🫶🏾“

“Had a really great experience here! The food was delicious — fresh, flavorful, and served hot. The atmosphere was clean, comfortable, and had a welcoming vibe that made it easy to relax and enjoy the meal. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we walked in. Definitely a spot I’d come back to again and recommend to others looking for good Halal Chinese food and great service!“

“Their selection of lunch specials, with a beverage, checks the boxes for value and portion size. No frills service: order, pay (cash is king), take away or dine in.
The chicken with broccoli, with white rice was more than enough for lunch. The hot made-to-order broccoli tasted fresh and sweet; chicken was juicy and tender. I thought there was too much oyster sauce.
Next time, order light on sauce!
In DC, a good atmosphere indicator on whenever a Chinese restaurant has props with their chops is when I hear locals speak Chinese, with tourists, locals, and Americans. Four stars!“

“This was the most authentic, delicious, Chinese food I've had since visiting China back in 2007. It brought back so many memories, I could have cried. I had the black vinegar peanuts, red chili sesame dumplings, and the minced pork noodles. I can't wait to go back. This is food I'll dream about.“

“Absolutely delicious food! I first came here six years ago for my husband’s birthday after hearing about the restaurant from a foodie. It’s an unpretentious spot with incredibly good food. We ordered 10+ different dishes that first time and loved everything, especially the dan dan noodles and the pork bun. Nothing can ever compare to their Dan Dan noodles no matter how many times we order them from different restaurants!
We moved far away after a few years, but when we came back to visit friends this month, this was the first restaurant we wanted to return to. The food was just as delicious as it was six years ago. Highly recommend!“

“My husband comes in whenever he is in the area, lucky for me I was with him today. We enjoyed hearing the chef sing while we waited for our food. Our food especially the crab cheese wontons were delicious. We gave a cash tip and the man was so grateful. We just wanted to let him know that we appreciated the friendly atmosphere, kindness goes a long way!“

“BEST LO MEIN I have had in a long long long time. Didn’t know it was possible to find a place that cooked it like this. Perfect texture, delicious. My favorite Chinese food place. Will be ordering at least every two weeks. Praise the chef.“
“Such a nice place right at the start of china town. The sushi is so fresh, recommend the salmon roll, salmon avocado and tuna avocado. The crispy tuna rice was so yummy. Miso soup always hits the spot, the chicken teriyaki was also yummy. The prices are so good for happy hour. Perfect lunch spot!“

“This is a nice reminder of what authentic Chinese food taste like. We tried slices beef with peppers, spring rolls, egg drop soup, and chicken fried rice. Everything was piping hot and well flavored.
The only thing to be modified is the time it took to take drink orders and the order of food delivery (the preference is for appetizers to come out before the meal but asking the customer if all is desired together is good).
The venue is spacious, the light is well balanced and it has nice music playing juat enough to set the scene for authentic cuisine. We will definitely be back when we return to DC.“

“Hhheeeyyyy FF. Dropped in for one thing and one thing only. Had a mad taste for a carryout steak and Cheese. This spot met my pilot. Hot, juicy, the extra mayo and onions complimented the steak and the soft roll. Fries were crisp and hot. This is an (RTS) Return to Spot.“

“Not only is every dish delicious, but the service at Isshin is so warm, so welcome and so lovely. Secret menu item is the handmade dumplings (they have two types so ask for these specifically). Their miso soup is very rich but not overly salty, which can be difficult to find, yet it is here daily and for a good price. I’m particularly in love with their udon noddles, which I get vegetarian with tofu, and the veggies are perfectly crisp. Their sushi rolls are fresh and I never get the seaweed burps. They know us when we walk in and make my wife and I feel like family. Become a regular, it’s worth it.“

“Yesterday was my husband and I first time actually ordering from this carryout. I was craving a steak and cheese and my husband reminded me of Jerry Chans, which save us a drive because usually we would go Uptown NW DC to order our steak and cheese subs. We drive pass Jerry Chans almost everyday, but what throws us off is the fact that there is always vagrants around that area.... Anyway we called in our order and when we arrived I introduced myself to a nice lady that works there name Jane. Very pleasant lady. Omg our steak and cheese subs where perfect and loaded with plenty of steak.... Finger licking good.. we definitely will be coming back to try other foods.“

“Authentic, no-frills, all-flavor DC carry-out food, with fried chicken wings, original-style DC mambo sauce, fried rice with plenty of onions and bean sprouts, french fries made as you ask with salt, pepper, ketchup, a steak and cheese with seasoned meat and plenty of fillings, I prefer getting it with everything and hot peppers, and it was the nostalgic, savory taste I'd been looking for since loving in DC and moving to VA 10 years ago. This spot has great food. Make sure you have Zelle or cash, they don't take credit cards and there's an ATM inside.
I got a half steak and cheese woth everything on it plus hot peppers, an order of French fries with salt, pepper, ketchup, and 3 wings with fried rice with mambo sauce on everything. Plus I got an extra container of mambo sauce for dipping. It was less than $20. Wait time was maybe 10 minutes.“

“The place is calm and the service is good they are very politely people but the only complain is that the food was better before I dont know if they had change the cookers or the recipes but lately I bought a wings with French fries and beef broccoli and shrimp lo mein so the rice of the beef broccoli which was for my wife was very dry hope the manager watch this message and solve this problem.“

“We liked this place and ordered vegetable fried rice and wings for pickup. Everything was very good, price was reasonable and the rice amount was ok for a large size order. Only thing I would say that they could have fried the rice little longer with little bit more soy sauce, then it could have been like authentic New York China Town style.“

“Their spring rolls are so crunchy and flaky you can taste the freshness and pairs nicely with the shrimp and broccoli. Their food has that signature carry out taste you crave and not everyone gets right. The food is always hot and you can taste the good quality. This is also the only place I’ve seen that has the cutest mini shop inside where you can get adorable collectibles.“

“We love this spot - our local go-to for Chinese! It’s not our number 1 choice for Thai, but the Thai food is also very good (I love the drunken noodles). The family who runs it is always very sweet and we’ve never had an issue after going there for years 😄“

“This is probably of the best Chinese food in a while, I’ve stopped eating Chinese food for years and decided to try this place randomly It’s surprisingly really good I got a simple beef and broccoli. The rice was perfect not mushy not dry nor over seasoned. The beef taste like beef and the broccoli didn’t taste Like broccoli, majority of Chinese food spots! This one is a good spot. In my opinion“

“Some friend took Us to Mandarin House in the early 90's. From then to 2009 (moving out of state), it was our Go-To place for incredibly delicious Chinese food and always a big hit with whoever We took there. If I had any complaint, it might be that the dish was blander than I expected, although still good. ALWAYS top rate service and food!\n We were visiting family and friends in Maryland last week and made it a point to sop here for lunch. I had the General Tso lunch special (with Pork Fried Rice and an egg roll) that was as good as I remember while my wife went for her usual, Eggplant With Hot Garlic Sauce. We took takeout to go with Us: Chef's Spicy Crispy Shrimp, Morengo Delight and for the "kids" (daughter and her husband), it was Happy Family and Chef's Spicy Crispy Beef. All sumptuous.\n Their prices have gone up (but sadly, whose has not the last few years?), but the portions are filling and our usual server "Carlos" was as cool as ever. Almost every Chinese restaurant that We have gone to has gotten "It's good...but it's not Mandarin House". Overlook the Strip Mall exterior and enjoy Your food.“

“I ordered beef hofun and personally found the taste quite good. However, what I really like is their hofun. I've tried hofun at many places, and this restaurant's hifun are not sticky. The flavor is mild for me, but I think it's a bit strong. After all, everyone has different taste preferences. Overall, I think it's pretty good.“
