“Insanely good ! I love the chicken, it has been consistently good the last 10 years. The sauces are also amazing. I could eat the green sauce with anything. I think the sides are great too, especially rice and beans, plantain and yucca. My only feedback, which you can see in the photo, is it’s not clear why the “Fiesta” meals are actually more expensive than buying separately. Sides cost £4.75 individually (not pictured). I wish I understood that, because why should someone get the fiesta meal?“
“Kudos to Byron and the staff behind the bar for their impeccable service! This place is my go to for brunch and happy hour so I was happy to return for brunch and even more happier with my meal selections. The ambiance is perfect for date night, drinks with coworkers, or friends-it welcomes all! I regularly order tostones because they're so succulent and once again, it did not miss! The lechon hash was a new order: braised pork, ají panca, onions, crispy potatoes, and poached egg (menu description) This dish packed so many flavors! The braised pork was perfectly seasoned and the sauce covered the crispy potatoes without making them soggy, it was like culinary magic! What I didn't like was the poached egg because it was hard lol so hard that it rolled off the potatoes when I touched it. Dessert was my all time fav, the con leche cheesecake and as always, that was a hit! The sangria is worth the buy every time as are their mimosas. I absolutely love this place and highly recommend them for quality food and drinks.“
“Amazonia is a great bar/restaurant. Daniel was a great server and recommended great veggie options. The food and drinks came out promptly with great presentation and the upstairs staff was all really friendly. Can’t say the same for the downstairs hostess who wouldn’t let me go up to Amazonia without asking her and then couldn’t find my reservation after asking me the details 3 times and not being able to pull it up. After she pulled it up she said none of my party was there even though everyone but me was there. Maybe it’s a communication thing between upstairs and downstairs but for such an expensive restaurant, the hostess shouldn’t try and fight you as you’re walking in.“
“We did the tatami chef tasting menu. It was waaay too much food for 2 people. We had to take home the last few plates because we definitely couldn’t eat any more. It includes 2 desserts, I don’t have pictures of the “ponderaciones de kiwicha”.“
“My wife and I had dinner on our anniversary and the food and service was outstanding. The menu is full of outstanding options and the atmosphere and vibe is great for date night or dinner with friends. Definitely one of the best restaurants in DC!“
“Our visit to La Canela was truly phenomenal! The flavors of the food were simply incredible, and the portions were generous. I opted for the Seco de Cabrito (Lamb shank) while my wife savored the Arroz con Mariscos (seafood rice). To start, we enjoyed the Agua de Tigre appetizer, which set the tone for a fantastic dining experience. Every dish we tried was exceptional, leaving us thoroughly impressed and satisfied. It's safe to say that we will be returning to La Canela without hesitation to indulge in more of their delicious offerings. It was a culinary experience worth repeating!“
“I usually end my rough days with a fruit salad for dinner, well, it's mostly grape actually ,ok all grapes , fermented grapes, I usually have wine for dinner. Thanks goodness I found the Downtown Beer and Wine..where You can find the finest wine in town and the most knowledgeable owner , whom I learned so much about wine like from Barbera. Burgundy. Carménère. Chianti. Grenache. Moscato. Petite Sirah. Riesling. Sauvignon Blanc.Blaufränkisch. Cabernet Franc. Chardonnay. Gamay. Grüner Veltliner. Malbec. Pinot Grigio / Gris. Rosé Wine. Syrah & Shiraz. ...Bordeaux. Cabernet Sauvignon. Chenin Blanc. Gewürztraminer. Merlot. Nebbiolo. Pinot Noir. Rioja. Sparkling Wines. Stunningly i ended buying boxes of Spanish wines from Spain wineries. I am giving a 5 stars review for the wines, place and the staff..“
“This restaurant delivers what matters most. Great food and great service. The food is fresh and flavorful. There is a wide selection! I have just opted to go down the menu everything is good. And the front end staff is patient, friendly and aims to please. Well worth the ride for excellent take-out!“
“Very good service and kindness from the person who served us (Ariana) for the first time we ate here! And the truth is excellent! Delicious food! The anticuchos were great and “Everything was super delicious, thank you for your attention! We will be back soon ????“
“Delicious food. Fast and friendly service. Great prices. Portions are generous. We typically get the whole chicken with 3 sides and it's enough for two people to have dinner and leftovers for lunch the next day. Perfect for busy weeknights. We were devastated when Huacatay closed, but we're very relieved that once again there is top notch chicken again. Highly recommend.“
“I’ve been eating here since I was 8 and every time I return to DC this is my first stop. No other chicken place compares. I dream about the dark meat + white sauce + Inca cola combo and would gladly have it for my last meal on earth. Beyond grateful for this epic institution ?“
“While I haven't visited this restaurant in-person, my orders through GrubHub have been on point!! The chicken is flavorful and seasoned well, and juicy. The sides are filling and are also very good. I got the brussel sprouts and fries. The brussel sprouts are coated with a carmelized type of ingredient that packs a big much. The only negative about them is that they are usually pretty big which makes it hard to eat them whole like normal sized ones, so keep a knife handy to cut them smaller. The fries were also very good. I must say the sauces are probably the best I've had out of all similar chicken spots, especially the green sauce!! Oh my, my, my!!! I just had them for lunch today and I'm really contemplating on ordering them for dinner - they are just that good!“
“BEST FOOD of our entire visit. I don't care how far away you are, this is worth the drive, the uber, the taxi, whatever. The flavors are unlike anything else you can find and the thought of this restaurant makes me hungry all over again. If I were to only eat at one place for the rest of my life it would be this one. Call it hyperbole, but eat there and tell me that I'm wrong. You're gonna look at me and tell me that I'm wrong?? She came down in bubble, Doug. Grow up. And please try this.“
“Trouble communicating with the staff behind the counter so another guest in line helped me. Tried the fried trout $17.99, 1/2 chicken plate $14.99, yucca fries, fried rice, corn and onion in tomato salad. Everything was good except the yucca fries pick something else.“
“Although it was mostly empty when we visited on a weekday evening, the venue and convenient location are appealing. Friendly staff and fair prices, what's not to like. Being first time here, and not knowing the regular portions and size of the chicken, we ordered the whole chicken family meal with 3 sides. It was much more than we could handle. The chicken was good. I think he gave us an extra piece (leftover?) and perhaps that's why we had so much. The Brussels Sprouts was the star of the place - sweet and savory, delicious. 5 stars! We changed our mind at the last minute, and decided to eat in. Can't say it's the cold temperature, but the chicken was cold to the touch for some reason. Maybe it was the extra piece we got. Regardless, it's worth a trip, and will visit again when I have a craving for Peruvian cuisine.“
“For flavor, friendly staff, and down to earth settings, El Fuego is worth a visit. I’ve been going there for about 4 years now and always have a great experience. It’s a small place with limited seating but if you’re with family or friends you’ll enjoy. The setting is very laid back so go for the food. You’ll be glad you did. This time I tried the pollo tallarin saltado while my wife had the arroz con pollo. All very good.“
“The food is tasty and always serviced with a smile. I've been here for take out and the staff is always friendly. Sometimes I'll wait for a few minutes while they cook my food and it's always a joy to watch them. They recently started a chicken and side special on Wednesday night that I look forward to. It's a great way to get some delicious chicken without getting the whole bird.“
“I visited Chicken + Whiskey for the first time recently after hearing great things about it for years. I don't know why it's taken me this long to visit. The 14th St location has a fast casual chicken spot in the front and a "hidden" whiskey bar in the back, behind a commercial freezer door. I visited for happy hour on a Friday at 5 PM and we were the first people there. We enjoyed the cocktails and food, especially with the happy hour discount. Happy hour runs Mon-Fri, 5-7 PM and includes $2 off all beers and arepas, $3 off all cocktails and sanguiches/wraps, $9 pisco punch, and $15 beer + wings combo. We had the Pisco Punch, Squash It, and Sweater Weather cocktails which were all tasty and $9/$10 on happy hour. We got the wings and beer combo and the Borracho Wrap, recommended by the bartender. The wings were good if a little dry, and actually came with all 3 sauces on the side. The wrap ($10.25 on HH) was excellent, the perfect balance of textures and flavors. Very impressed. Service was quick and friendly. Overall, we had good experience, but there are a couple opportunities to improve. The cocktails were clearly fall cocktails and out of season now that it's April. The beer + wings combo was a bit disappointing because it was only for the Tecate beer (not any beer). The 3.75% surcharge is also unwelcome. Finally, for a first timer, the food/drinks situation was a little confusing. Before visiting, we thought we would be able to order from the full menu at the back bar, but it actually has a limited food menu. Then, the door to the bar has a sign saying you can't take food and drinks back and forth between the front chicken shop and back bar, which gave us pause. The happy hour menu mentions a discount on "sanguiches" but the main drinks/food menu doesn't use this term. And while the menu design is very stylish, it's also very busy and a little hard to fully read and parse.“
“Came to Chilcano's for the first time with my family this weekend and had an amazing experience. The atmosphere was very pleasant and the food was expectacular. We were served by Julio and we couldn't have asked for a better server. He was very kind and informed us about every dish. We will be definitely coming back. Thank you for everything Julio.“
“Been here dozens of times over the years. And the rumors are true. Easily the best pollo a la brasa place in the area. Chicken and sauces are reliably excellent and very reasonably priced. Feeding a family of four with room to spare for $22 is something you can't even do at McDonalds these days. Sides are limited in variety, but they're ok. Only gripe is the fried yuca is often chewy, hard, and/or dry. But skip that menu item, and you'll be fine.“
“I went there for lunch today and everything was perfect—the atmosphere, service, friendly waiters, & great food! I had the Pollo Saltado (chicken w/french fries & rice) & my work bestie had the Lengua Guisada (beef tongue w/potatoes & rice). And for dessert…Alfajores (anise cookies w/creamy dulce de leche caramel)! ?“
“Our family are really happy to see there’s a good Peruvian chicken open in our neighborhood! Went to try it today and we ordered a whole chicken with 2 sides of Yuca and potatoes salad. The chicken is really tasty and inside is juicy too! Sides are delicious also. Will definitely recommend! They also have Kung Fu Tea in the same store too:)“
“Got the 1/4 chicken and 2 sides. Chicken was fantastic! Great flavor even on the white meat, not dry at all. Side were tasty really liked the Brussels. They had the real Madrid game on, but the atmosphere was nice, family friendly. Star was very helpful.“
“Breathtaking experience. I have been trying out DC area restaurants for months, and Inca Social is my favorite. Heavenly seafood, juicy and well prepared and seasoned steaks, expert use of chimichurri-- this place is a true delight. My compliments to the chef and to Cesar, the server. Very polite, welcoming and attentive.“
“Love this Peruvian chicken place. I'd been going here ever since it opened. I hadn't gone for many years bc I moved, but came back for a visit and it's exactly as I remembered it. DELICIOUS!! I wish I had this amazing place near me now. Chicken is juicy and flavorful. The spicy green and mayo sauces complement the chicken so well. My favorite sides are the plantains and rice/bean (they are sooo generous!). Please go to Don Pollo. You won't be disappointed. And there's a very nice dining area as well.“
“Lisssssssen. Peruvian brothers hits the spot. The beef empanada with their hot sauce is GOOD. The chicha morada is meh but the lomo al pobre chefs kiss! Everything was flavorful. Next time I'll go back for happy hour. I bought both the rocoto and the sweet and spicy sauce and both were good.“
“This is a very good place to enjoy nicaraguan food, try every one of the options every time...you can enjoy different type of food. Today at ate a very delicious "baho nicaraguense" , two days ago, I enjoy a delicious "sopa de queso"....“
“Tiny rotisserie chicken shop in a good location. There’s even a few tables outside on a cute patio. The food was delicious, can’t recommend the plantains enough. We placed a to go order in person and had had our food in less than 2 minutes. After a 5 minute walk the food was still steaming hot and super fresh when we got home. And the pricing is some of the best in the area. The staff all seemed super friendly. This is a new repeat spot for a quick and tasty weeknight meal.“
