“The food here is always hot, fresh and delicious. "Mr. Simon," "Ms. Bernice" and "Ms. Season" always provide great customer service especially Simon and Bernice. They are always friendly, polite and professional. This is my favorite carry out in the area!! The Singapore noodles, shrimp egg foo young, steak and cheese, broccoli and garlic sauce, honey wings and chicken with mumbo sauce are all my favorites!

“Growing up in the area this place has been a treat for our family. Good memories here. Years ago, pre-pandemmy when the dining room was open, I used to go here with my pops on occasion. If you get your chicken hot and fresh it's CRISPY and nothing has ever come close to how good it is. The lady who helps you when you pick up a carry-out order is so sweet. Please tip her!! If you like General Tsos but want to branch out, get the sesame beef. It's my favorite dish. Panda Xpress' crab rangoons do not stand a CHANCE against Golden Star's cheese wontons. Thanks for being a staple of my childhood <3 I'm moving out soon and will miss you!“

“Amongst the best egg rolls in the area. While the General Tso's Chicken was good, there was nothing "hot and spicy" about it. Either I'll refry it with some red pepper flakes or try the kung pao chicken next.

“Ginger Beef doesn't really have an eating area, so it's difficult to judge the atmosphere. I'd argue that this location is for carry out and delivery only...and that's OK. I've ordered here three times and have had a quality experience all three times...thick chunks of white, hot food, abundant wonton in your soup order, and friendly service. I've ordered the almond chicken twice and find they use a modest amount of sauce and breading. You won't find yourself with huge mystery chunks of fried MSG or dry stalks of pulled meat. Again, this location is primarily a kitchen and pick up in the tradition of what you'll find in the city, corner carry outs. I've been disappointed that they have not had any half and half during my visits, so that's a goal that would help this location soar to higher levels. They also have great white rice, which can never be understated.“

“The tasty food is one thing BUT one thing which stood out for me is their great customer service. Jane and her other colleague were all smiles, kind and attentive. You can tell they love the job that they do. This is the kind of service you wanna comeback for more. I also appreciate that they're wearing a transparent mouth shield as it looks more neat than a regular mask. They offer free soup and coffee on top of your regular order which is great since it's winter around this time. “House of Dynasty has been pumping out delicious food for me and my family for well over 20 years. I always get the sweet n sour chicken and the crisp is top notch with a sauce that should be the industry standard. The chicken cashew, sesame chicken, dumplings, beef broccoli, veggie lo mein, egg rolls and any other dish I've had here have always been excellent. “This is the best Chinese takeout we have found in the area - we drive here from Waldorf to pick it up because it really is better than any other place we have found. The only one that comes close is Hunan Star in La Plata but this is still preferred. My husband loves their General Tso chicken and I'm a big fan of their Egg Foo Young. Portion sizes are large so we always have leftovers! Worth the drive to Manokeek!“

“I’ve been ordering from this restaurant for awhile and have been pleased with all entrees. The beef broccoli, kung pao shrimp, orange chicken, and fried rice are above average compared to other Chinese carry outs. Flavorful and delicious dishes from this spot so far!“

“Our food was delicious and fresh! The cooks took their time and did not rush to get the order out quickly. I ordered Shrimp and mixed vegetables and my husband had the Salt and Pepper Shrimp. “Our search may finally be over. Today we sampled the cuisine here and were not disappointed. The reviews I have read do not paint a detailed picture, so I figured I’d give you an update.

The restaurant is off of the highway making it convenient on your way to/from work. The parking lot and building are somewhat stashed behind other shops though, slightly confusing.

The service was good, though they still have the glass window and speaker system architecture in place. (Somewhat hard to hear him speak) I suspect a remaining circumstance of COVID.

I ordered the Mongolian beef w/white rice, General Tso’s Chicken w/white rice and the General Tso’s chicken wings w/fried rice. The entree flavors were all delicious and the white rice was average as expected. The chicken wings were small, but I ordered 10 and it actually came with 12. (I suspect to compensate for the size)

The only bad note I have for the food is regarding the “fried rice”. It is in fact a yellow rice, likely steamed, and tossed with bean sprouts and onions. It lacks all flavor, and definitely missed the mark for “fried rice”. I will not be ordering this item again.

Otherwise all three dishes were ready in 15 minutes, and I got a free shrimp egg roll for ordering over a certain amount. (Egg roll was average, needed duck sauce) My total was $42.

“What you receive for the amount spent is definitely 5 stars. I've had my fair share of Chinese take out. Gunston Wok is up at the top. I see some reviews giving this place a bad review based on a bad experience with a specific menu item. This seems unfair. I too have things I avoid here (I'm looking at you, curry dishes). I love Chinese curry, but the curry from here just tasted weird (would not buy again). It is normal for any food establishment to have a menu item you avoid. The few dishes that I frequently get are well made and competitively priced (beef with broccoli, lo mein, hunan shrimp, and a few others). The chef is skilled. Overcooked shrimp is leathery, undercooked tastes raw. The chef gets it right, every time. The taste never changes, so I know what to expect when I make an order. Today, I ordered sweet and sour pork combination platter and replaced the roll/soup option with wonton soup (costs slightly extra). The wonton broth is clear and not too greasy. The wonton dumpling in the soup uses thin dough (tastes better than other places that use thick dough). $11.50 total spend. Worth it. Have I had better Chinese food? Sure. But such places charge $25-$40 per dish. Gunston Wok is superior in satisfaction-to-cost ratio.“

“Place seemed Authentic so I gave it a try !! & I’m glad I did !!! I don’t get all these bad reviews with one stars it must’ve been the way they ordered or approached the hard working lady taking their order she took my order as Normally and fast, food was hot and tasted very authentic unlike other places that seem like they microwave their dishes !! Reading past reviews I assume her partner or family member was the one making the food and he did great !!! Definitely will be back !!! Respect and be respected !! I didn’t tip and regret it.
