“My wife and I had an absolutely amazing evening dining out here on a long weekend trip to DC for our Birthdays. The food was incredible I have not found one dish at this or the Chicago location that wasn’t great. Abagail was simply the best waitress we have EVER had. We had a great experience in Chicago but I have to say I think the food was a touch better here. “We have visited this trattoria many times. Over this time the food quality has remained at very high level. Service is excellent. The restaurant is inside a small house-like setting with three floors. Recently they raised the prices. The prices are quite high. The food was excellent. We had seafood chicken as well as other wonderful pasta dishes. I particularly liked the chicken cacciatore which was just enough spicy for my taste. All in all it is a great experience if you can pay the high prices“

“Came here for dinner by myself while on a work trip. The atmosphere is great. Both cozy and modern. I asked my server for a recommendation and ended up getting a margarita pizza with a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. The pizza was excellent, probably a little more than one person should eat. The wine paired excellent with it. With tip it was about $35, which I think is reasonable. Highly recommend.“

“Had a lovely couples dinner and it was the perfect spot for a couple coming down from the redline and the other couple coming in on the orange line. It's hard to find good restaurants in that area but Il Piatto delivered. The food was tasty and the portions weren't overwhelming large. Our main waitress Audrey was so kind and the atmosphere was perfect. You could easily hear each other around the table but it was still lively.“

The menu was intriguing and we enjoyed all of our selections. From the focaccia bread to the beets to the fennel salad and fried meatballs, the appetizers were delightful. The raviolini and beef heart bolognese pastas were remarkable too! My hubby loved his veal and the I forgot to mention all the fun mocktails (kids tried the elderberry and I enjoyed the homemade ginger ale)! “We are tourist & was searching for a place too eat since our first choice for dinner totally ignored us after we sat there 30 minutes we left. This pizza joint is absolutely delicious. The thin crust was delicious especially on the cheese pizza. The only negative thing I have too say is y’all charging too much for a house salad. I mean if you gonna charge $14 @ least give me something other than basic lettuce.“

“This is my favorite lunch place in DC. The food is outstanding, the staff are friendly, and the restaurant itself provides the feeling that you're enjoying a local sandwich shop. This is the best sandwich bread you can get in DC, and it's not even close. You can taste the freshness in every bite and the addition of being able to buy the meats and fresh baked rolls separately gives Salumeria a local, small-European town quality that can't be matched at other places. For this price point and this level of sandwich creation, you won't find anything better in DC. Try the Crudo, it's a classic, simple sandwich that provides rich flavors in every bite with fresh mozzarella and prosciutto that melts in your mouth.“

“Good pizza for less than $6.00. They also have other prepared food, like meats, salads and sides, but I went with pizza. The service is relatively fast and it is a place for a quick bite. I work in the area and it’s one of my favorite options for lunch - slice of pizza, kin of New York style lunch :). Also, considering that the chain exists since 1956, it’s reliable and proven with a time. Interior is simple and ascetic.

“This is a great spot for a date night or even a place to unwind after work. I love the location—it brings a much-needed economic boost to the community, which is amazing to see.
The food was really good. I do have a few personal critiques I could mention, but overall it was enjoyable and worth the wait.
Speaking of the wait, definitely bring your patience. There seemed to be a disconnect between the servers, kitchen, and host stand. We had a 1:00 PM reservation for the buffet-style breakfast but weren’t seated until around 1:30–1:40, despite several open tables. When we finally got to the buffet, most of the food was gone and we had to wait for it to be replenished.
While the service issues could use improvement, I still recommend giving them a try.“
