“A last second decision to have a burger for lunch, plus a good friends' recommendation led me to the Carriage House Inn, and I'm happy it did. From the moment I walked in and encountered Linda at the hostess stand I knew this was the place for me. She was professional, with a great sense of humor. I hadn't thought to make a reservation, so I called from the lobby to set one up (she got a kick out of that) and when she asked me what time, I looked at my watch and said, "oh, right about now". Thankfully, they had plenty of available seats as they had just opened for lunch.Theresa was my server and recommended her favorite burger, a mushroom and swiss. I hadn't come in thinking mushroom/swiss, but I'm glad I took her advice, as the burger was juicy and fantastic. She was yet another lively part of this establishment with a great sense of humor. The Carrigae House Inn was lovely inside and out, not what I was expecting, and better than I could have hoped for in terms of the friendliness of the staff. I am certain locals know about this spot and come often, but as I was just in for lunch, it was an absolutely fantastic surprise. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone, and intend to go back for another meal soon.“

“The food here was just truly amazing. Service was great and everyone was so friendly! The large fry is a bucket size that feeds around 6 people, so it was shared. The cheesesteak could be customized, so I did sweet peppers, onions, mushrooms, and mayo. This was the best cheesesteak I’ve ever ate in my life, no kidding. Drinks were cold, the cheesesteak and fries were hot and were brought out to our table. It was just a great experience. I would drive the 7 hours again just for this sandwich, fries and the friendly service. If you’re in Gettysburg you have to stop here, you won’t regret it!“

“Pit beef, micro brew, and hand cut fries were fantastic. Always a treat when I come to Thurmont.“
“I have been there twice for lunch & for dinner on holidays. Both times I was a guest so I'm not sure if the cost. The atmosphere is high-end rustic... antique with modern fixtures. Make sure to look up and see the train running around the track. The servers are mostly young ladies and there busy the whole time... very friendly, and they remember most requests for refills on food and drinks. The food is holiday typical; turkey ham stuffing mashed potatoes carrots green beans etc. It is served family style; brought out in bowls, they're passed around the table, and ask for refills. They also have hot spices cider while your waiting to be seated. And the meals are served in shifts meaning they fill the restaurant, serve everyone the same food, the clear the restaurant and reset for the next meal... you will need a reservation. I recommend trying it.“

“My wife and I stopped here for lunch and we almost left because of how rough the place looked. This place doesn't have a bar either. I haven't ever been in a Mexican restaurant that didn't serve margaritas before or Corona. But when our food came out, I have to say it was the best Mexican food I've eaten in this area. We were pleasantly surprised. I would go back every week if they served Margaritas. The lunch menu was priced a little on the high side but you get what you pay for. The supper menu is too expensive for this place. So if we go back, we will go for lunch. They really need to give this place a face lift though.“

“The food never disappoints! Always delicious and worth the wait in line should you find yourself waiting. Relax and remember that good things take time. You can't rush perfection! Happy eating.?Feel free to get to know someone else around you while you wait. Might be life changing in a good way.Btw... I recommend trying the eggplant parmesan sub for something different but delicious.Kid-friendliness: They have several vending machines for young children and adults who are children at heart! “

“We were in town visiting Gettysburg, and wanted something quick. Headed to Tommy's for some pizza. Oh my Lord --- so delicious!!! We ordered a small meat lover's, and it was perfect. The crust was chewy and crispy, and the sauce was a little sweet with a tiny spice. The toppings were so piled on, they were falling off the pizza! If we lived here, we'd be in trouble -- eating pizza every single night! Friendly service as well. Highly recommend!“

“This is a regular stop for us when traveling through Gettysburg. If this place were in Washington DC, we would end up paying $100+ for a meal for two. Tonight we paid under $50 for, essentially, 3 meals. The food is absolutely authentic and absolutely delicious.“
“From the ambience to the service to the great tasting food. Was a great experience!!! Our waitress Alison was awesome!!!!“
“Service is impeccable. You feel like you've stepped back in time with your ancestors and are dining with them. The period costumes help take you back in time. Food was excellent! All is delicious but I must point out a star in the menu. The hearty onion soup (actually thick like a stew is the best I've ever had! It's been several months since I've been there and it's still remarkable in my mind. I find myself comparing every French onion soups to this one and they cannot measure up to this one!“

“Food was good tasted good but hot and sour soup had a good flavor but was very sparse on ingredients tofu was chopped in a fine dice and was little none in it also it only had about 8 piece of very small and I mean small cut up mushroom in it and last bit not least the egg steamer that I personal love about hot and sour soup was almost non-existent pepper steak was good but more onion few peppers and not a lot of steak but for 16 for the pepp. Stk and like 7 bucks for the H@S soup I expect it more flavor was good on both but I think what's happening here is what's happening a lot of places they either have to cut the amount of ingredients they put in or raise prices personally I would rather they hold on to the integrity of their dishes and simply raise the price I'd rather have to pay a little bit more and get something that is what I expect overall good restaurant nice people food was good just was surprised about as few ingredients that was in it considering the price I do recommend them if you're there go check them out form your own opinion“

“The hotel bar has a limited selection good beer and top shelf liquor. It can get busy when large groups book the hotel. The highlight of the bar is the bartender, Tania. She is a consummate professional and handles an overwhelming crowd with grace, skill, & humor.“

“The pizza crust and sauce are out of this world!“
“Fantastic. Fabulous. I took the walk that the Confederates took to the fence that leads to the Emmitsburg Road. It was a dream come true. And there at the fence I met a Texan who was also visiting the place, a descendant of a Confederate soldier. I took several photos. It was really exciting. I need to go back there next year.“
“I stopped in on a Saturday late afternoon. I had time to burn while waiting for my tour of the Jennie Wade house up the street and I saw this on the map. It’s a small place from what I saw, I sat on the closed in porch room and watched people and traffic passing from the window while I drank my cider. The cider was a bit too sweet for my preference, sort of more like a wine but a lot of people do like it that way. The bartenders were friendly. It looked like they might have outdoor seating behind the building but not totally sure if that was another business or a public area - there is an ice cream shop next door. I parked on the street. Meter parking payable to app or website. I think it was $2.50ish for 2 hours. I’d say if you like cider, stop in and give them a try. They do have wine too. I didn’t notice food options but maybe I just missed that because I wasn’t looking for any.“

“The waitress that served us food was patient, and accommodative as we frantically tried to figure out how to split the bill 6 ways and 4 at the same time (2 people couldn’t pay). The food was great, and worth the wait, and there were hardly any people, leaving a nice environment.“

“Went to dinner Sunday nite. Had a great server Stephanie. Good was good. When we were leaving we ask to speak to the manager on duty to tell her what a great server we had. The girl that had sat us came back and said the manager was to busy doing inventory but she told her the reason we wanted to see her. We believe in telling management when the have a good person working for them but obviously the manager needs to take lessons from her server! Very rude!“
