“This was my first time ordering from this establishment and I was very pleased. I ordered oxtail that came with plantain, & rice & peas using Uber eats. The portion sizes are very large and enough to feed 2 people, which is a plus! The oxtail was soooo flavorful and perfect. The rice and peas were kind of bland, but once you add the sauce from the oxtail it gives it more flavor. I felt that the plantain needed salt so I didn't care too much for it, but all in all I will definitely recommend this Nigerian/Jamaican cuisine restaurant.“
“This was my first time visiting this restaurant and I hope it's here to stay. The staff were very friendly and the food was so good! Everything was seasoned well and hot. I wish that service was a little faster and that the look of the restaurant was a little more inviting. The focus is the food anyways, which was top tier!“
“Food was so good, I was dancing the wholeTime while I was eating ?The beef suya was really tender, and it was the extra hot but I could tolerate it. The jollof was great and smoky flavor (party rice). The plantains were extra ripe and the way I like it. I am of Nicaraguan decent and enjoy maduros so if you like ripe ripe plantains then you will love them. The Zobo-lemonade was so good. I wonder if they make it in house. Nicaraguans drink it too but we call it “Jamaica”. The efo riro was great, small portion but great flavor. The suya wings were crispy and flavorful, I prefer flats so that’s the only thing that could have been better. Yeah, I’m doing the hour drive for spice kitchen very soon!!“
“Great food with amazing service. Prices are cheaper then average on food and drinks. I highly recommend the Gaba-Wata for meat lovers.Vegetarian options: All the vegetarian dishes are cooked fresh daily. Quite amazing I recommend the vegetable combo for a traditional mix of different types of vegetarian food.“
“OMG!!!! I am ashamed admit that this is my very first time at Swahili?! How on earth as a loud and proud, real African American is this my 1st visit to Swahili?!! Perhaps it's because I heard about my girl Jordan! Jordan the bartender is the bomb.com!! Great music, great suya and the service is good. We were lucky to secure seats at the bar, before it was jammed packed by 11pm. If you have a larger party, make reservations!“
“Aduke’s kitchen DOES NOT DISAPPOINT. Period. Catered two events with this business and both brought on the WOW factor. Some people caterer as a business and means of income, others as a passion and something they enjoy. For Aduke’s kitchen, it’s so clear to see this is a passion because the service and excellence is amazing, thoughtful, and tasty!“
“I picked up food from here on a Sunday. Their website and Google shows an open time of 11:30 but when I called the restaurant to verify I was told they don't open until 12:00.Luckily I was able to place my order through their website at 11:40 for a 12:00 pick up. When I arrived at 12:05 the young lady told me that they had just opened up at noon and my order would be ready soon.Everything in my order was hot and fresh. I just recommend that the owner get the opening time corrected for their website and on Google maps.“
“A Beautiful place to visit, delicious delicacies of African Dishes . Great hospitality and very welcoming. Guys go have a taste and thank me later??.Kid-friendliness: Can play and have funParking: Free parkingWheelchair accessibility: Can access with no problem“
“Things I love about Mansa Kunda:A- Covid safe! A large beautiful patio, and the inside is big, airy, and almost never crowded!B- The service. These guys treat you like family and it’s super kid friendly. Also the decorations are BEAUTIFUL.C- THE FOOD! I will crave their jollof couscous for the rest of my life. The afra chicken — how do they do that?? Crispy and salty with a little char and a liiiiittle spice (my toddler ests it). My husband loves the peanut butter chu. Also there is an insane selection of DELICIOUS house made desserts.Truly love this place!Kid-friendliness: The staff are so sweet and there is lots of room to run around. Plus: the bird phone!“
“Vegetarian options: I had the option to choose what I wanted on my meal.Kid-friendliness: Space for the kids to stand , run aroundParking: The parking is just so accessible, just infront of the store.Wheelchair accessibility: Their customer service towards me on my wheelchair was so welcoming and encouraging.“
“Great place to eat. There wasn't a person at the hostess stand so we looked around the corner and someone spotted us and came over to sit us down, less than a five minute wait. Super attentive, lovely decorations. Food was delicious. Plenty of options for spicy food lovers.“
“The place appears a bit off the beaten path when you get to it, but fortunately there is parking and it’s easy to find. Was welcomed by the bartender who served as the waiter, cashier, host and generally Jack of all trades. I even thought he was going to be making our meal. Fortunately the chef was busy in the back and clearly knew the craft. There are not enough good things to say about the meal which started off with an appetizer of authentic Kenyan sausages, which are the best in the world, hands-down. This was then followed by goat curry (mbuzi) with kale (sukuma wiki) and ugali (maizemal) which tasted as if it had been made straight from a kitchen back in Nairobi. They even had fresh pili pili (green hot pepper) on the side for that extra kick. Will definitely visit again and wash the meal down with the frothy waters of Belgium. The seating was comfortable and the televisions were not too loud. They even had a pool table for those so inclined to mix games with a good meal.Definitely top five in my book & is highly recommended. Will have to try something else from the menu next time.“
“I have been to many Ethiopian restaurants in the DMV. Rohobot is the most recommended by my Ethiopian friends. The food is sooo flavorful and the owner is nice too! I order the veggie platter (which is vegan). Enjoy a meal here, your tastebuds will thank you.“
“I visited this restaurant while here from out of town, and I happen to go on a night they were closed. I luckily saw the owner and he said he was expecting guest so he would accommodate us as an exception. The food was absolutely delicious! Service was exceptional. You can tell the owner is really into what he serves to the customers. He knows his stuff and you can tell by the end result; great food. I would highly recommend this place. Go open minded and you’ll come out happily experienced!“
“20/10 experience! Miya Lounge has incredibly tasty African food, great artwork, amazing customer service, and an inviting atmosphere. I had the okra soup with gari & goat meat with rice, it was MOUTH WATERING! I absolutely recommend trying out this restaurant, you will not be disappointed!“
“Where to begin??? Run, don't walk to this hidden gem!! The samosas are amazing! Crisp, full of flavors... just plain delicious!!! Must tries are the chicken, beef, turkey ,and veggie. Will definitely be a loyal customer from now on out.“
“The food I ordered (lamb & goat w/ rice) was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The ginger & pineapple drink is made with a kick of a spicy ingredient but it is very refreshing.Overall you get a good portion for your money.Be patient, the service is a little slow but the food is worth the wait.“
“Went here on a humbug slow night. I still liked the vibe. It was just me and the homie touring the city night life. The atmosphere was on point. Nice Jamaican vibes. Great dj. I heard the food was good. Didn't get that far but definitely going back to hang “
“Hung out with a friend on a Thursday night and I have randomly seen this place on Instagram, so we decided to check it out.Seems to be two sides to this place. One is the restaurant area and the other you have to go outside at least from the restaurant. Do go upstairs to the club/ lounge areaWe arrived here around 6:30 p.m. on a Thursday to the restaurant. There was one potentially bartender/ waitress. I arrived later than I guess but it took almost 15 minutes before the waitress came over to see if I even needed or wanted water. As the night went on, we were able to get the Roku remote to change the YouTube channel because the waitress put on some 1950s music as a playlist for some reason. through the evening, the waitress switched out and our other waitress who came in was pretty friendly, funny, and seem like she was very sociable and helped us out with things that we needed it.Around 11:00 we decided to check out the upstairs part since it was finally open. The UPS store lounge you get stopped and checked by security for your ID and any big purses. That was completely fine, and the space as downstairs was very clean. A lot of space too. Enjoy personal space and the music, however was really loud. There was also a live DJ. We did up for a hookah, which was $50. And with that you get your own space/ cubby area which was nice. There's no smoking allowed at the bar. To know there is a bar area upstairs but there is not one downstairs. However, downstairs is split in the two parts. where it's the restaurant side and then you have a side for hookah. Also, there is advertised happy hour on the menu. But downstairs they did not have happy hour because the waitress said that all of the mixing drinks for the cocktails on the happy hour mini were upstairs. And at the time of happy hour the upstairs was closed. So the cocktail drinks themselves will run you about 15 to 19$The music upstairs was generally afrobeats, but the DJ did change it up and played some current music of today which was all really niceThe entire restaurant/bar was really spacious, I would like to check this place out for brunch with friends one day“
“Ambiance: I came to meet a few friends for happy hour on a weekday afternoon and I'm so glad I did. The spot has ample outdoor seating with canopies so every seat is in the shade. In the interior, there's about 6 to 10 seats at the bar and then a larger dining room behind. I really enjoyed that there was Afrobeats music playing in the background and it wasn't too loud so you could still hold a conversation with those around you. The energy in there was great. It was diverse, both racially and age, and everybody was positive, especially the staff. Service: Jerome, the bartender, and Aaron the server for that day were fantastic. My friends and I ordered food and different happy hour bites and they brought out the food as it was prepared versus waiting until everything was done which I appreciate it because that means the food was hot which was great. Happy hour goes until 8 and both the food and drink menus are extensive, so this would definitely be a place I'd recommend.Food: I ordered the chicken skewers, masala fries and samosas. They were all very tasty with authentic African flavors, which reminded me of the Ghanaian food I used to eat as a kid. I got a blue cocktail off the HH menu. Unfortunately I can't remember the name, but it was Gin based with blue curaçao. If it were a Friday or Saturday night I probably would have order a few more because they were so good without being strong tasting. I enjoyed it, but only ordered 1 before switching to wine for the rest of HH.Overall, I really enjoyed my dining experience and I'll definitely be back for happy hour again.“
“I moved from NYC to DC and I brought my food snob attitude. Then I stumbled across Open Crumb and expectations were low. To my surprise, I had the best meal I've had all year (including NYC restaurants). The Red Red is a perfect blend of spices and balance between sweet and savory. I've taken food to other friends in DC and they loved the peanut soup with chicken (more like gravy than soup and good over rice). Don't overlook this DC gem!“
“Found this place via google search. What a find!! Very authentic and delicious Ghanaian dishes. I had the red-red with chicken. It's my favorite Ghana dish and it was great. Huge portion ended up being dinner and leftovers for lunch. I'll definitely be back. Need to try the oxtails and egusi and waatye (sp?).“
“The place has some of the best food in the area, no doubt about it. Some of my favorite at the cassava leafs and the brown stew chicken. It is a Caribbean inspired business so. The snappy attitude at Caribbean restaurants infuses a delightful sass into the dining experience, adding a burst of vibrant flavors. While they may occasionally forget your drink, it only adds to the charm, turning every visit into a memorable adventure.“
“I have visited several African restaurants in DMV. De.Raanch restaurants and Bar is absolutely bed when it comes real restaurants serving food.I heard so much about De Rannch: The pioneer of authentic African restaurants restaurants. We came here today to find out for ourselves. Upon entering the door, we were greeted with a smiling face by the lady who was behind the counter..She then walked up to the dinning room and sat us down .The menu is a light booklet with all the motherland foods. I decided to go for the hard to find items: Ishiehu, Nkobi, ugba, and bitter leaf soup. My friend ordered abach( African salad) to our surprise all these items were brought to our table hot and fresh. We looked at each other and said this is it. The management is serious about thier business. No stories just good authentic food. The environment is very clean. No smells, tables are shining. The restrictions are clean. This is what I cal restaurants. I strongly recommend De Ranch for the restaurants to treat your out of town guests.“
“As much as I’d like to gatekeep this place, I have to give credit where it’s due…I was skeptical to order from Atts as this was my first time ordering and clean, good tasting African food in this area is SCARCE to say the least. I Ordered Pounded yam, efo riro & kpomo from Atts kitchen and I was so surprised what I received! The food came piping hot and the packaging blew me away ! It was NEATLY packed and ready to eat. They even provided a tray in the package. It was spicy & DELICIOUS! It was the perfect fix for my cravings. The lady who answered the phone called Taiwo was also VERY Sweet and patient. Atts is DEFINITELY my preferred vendor for Nigerian food! 100000/100!!!“
“I come here almost every weekend. The food is delicious, music is banging and on point, the owner is super friendly and accommodating, and the staff and ladies are warm and gentle. Definitely a great spot to check out and have a great time in the downtown Silver Spring area.“
“The food is amazing!! Very well seasoned and the meat is veryyy tender. The decorations are beautiful with white flowers covering the ceiling. We were a big party and our server Charity was very patient with us and took care of us well. Definitely recommend!!“
“Sometimes the best meals can be found in an industrial park in Beltsville. I also learned that this restaurant offers a Nigerian twist on shawarma. This meal consisted of the mouthwatering supreme shawarma with a side of fried sweet potatoes“
“The food is really good in this little hole in the wall resteraunt. I had the pounded yam and egusi soup. It was a delicious assortment of meats in the soup. Additionally the soup was spiced well. The pounded yam also tasted like it was made with high quality ingredients rather than the powder instant pounded yam you make with boiling water. Now for the not so good. As good as the food is it's hit or miss wether they will have the food available. There have been a few times I've gone there, mouth watering, and ordered some pounded yams and egusi, oxtails, etc only to be told we are out today. My advice is to save yourself the trip and call your order in ahead of time. Which will help mitigate issue number two ...the wait can be very long depending on what's ordered. Most of the times I've been there there were only a handful of customers but the wait time stretched to about 30 minutes+. Yes I know this isn't McDonald's but when it's only you and another customer I think the food should come out faster. Regardless I still give them my business because the food is that good.“
“One of the best Cameroonian spot in the DMV. Whenever I’m looking for good authentic Cameroonian cuisine Tiku’s Kitchen is my only go to, she have never disappointed!!!!!!!!!! I’ve been eating from her for a year now and the food always taste the same or better, and the price is also a plus. if I could give a 10 star I would“
“The minute I realized I was in the area I made it top priority to get there and when I did that’s when Heaven opened up to me. Yes I was blessed with the words to say, “Oxtail’s please!” With a big smile and loving personality the woman taking my order walked me through the sides. I must say that it was very hard paying attention due to the great smells of other very delicious meals being prepared. The atmosphere is so peaceful and very helpful, as I became excited to taste the masterpiece that was being produced just for me. So as I was called up to collect my meal all I could think about was eating, and yes you guessed right I didnt make it back to work however I pulled over in the parking lot and devoured the delicious food. Thank you Taste Buds for the very wonderful experience in food heaven“
“The Jollof rice was some of the best I've had in a long time, really spicy, and the tomatoe paste was not skimped on. The fried Croker fish is excellent! The Puff Puff, black eye peas, Agusi & spinish were all amazing and authentic. I would have given them 5 stars, but the service was unaccommodating and not as friendly as I would have expected, having been to Ghana. Even though this location is in the mall, it's Ghanaian cuisine at it's finest, I will be back!“
“Hubby flew me to Maryland just to enjoy Nigerian food. This was our last day and decided to try Nene’s restaurant and her meals are super delicious. Great customer service too. Call ahead or be prepared to wait a few mins for your meals itIs so worth it.“
“Great, no-frills West African place. Jodeem easily outpaces regional competitors on flavors. Earthy, spicy, sweet in all the right proportions. We got the bitter leaf soup with beef, spinach and beans with chicken, and beef patties. The bitter greens were the clear winner in fragrance and “
“Great lunch specials ($10) hard to find these days to include a beverage as well ( bottle of water ). who cares it’s a deal from every angle. Kinda out the way for us Virginians but well worth the travel. The flavors are true to the Caribbean as what I know of Tropicana. The food portion was on point as well. The service is rated low cause I think it’s a solo dolo operator so it was a bit of a what for the food. However, again it was worth the wait!!! Get you some if in the area and you like authentic Caribbean food! Spices on point. Oh and they got security on lock“
