“First I would like to say that I wish there were more than 5 stars. My son and I are visiting the DC area for the Cherry Blossom festivities. My son has a love for Indian food ever since his trip to India. I have never tried Indian food ever. So this was my very first experience. From the moment we walked in the door our amazing experience began. The atmosphere is beautiful and so is the staff. Our server, April was super helpful and very knowledgeable. She has an amazing spirit and is wonderful with her job! The food... was very fresh, aromatic and DELICIOUS!! My son said the food was the closest to the food in India that he has had here in the states. For my first time... OMG!!! I am HOOKED! The only bad part is that I have to go back to Florida and wait impatiently for my next visit.“

“I’ve had Indian food all over the country and internationally, and I would say this was the best Indian food I’ve had in my life. Everything was super fresh, flavorful, dynamic without being overly salty or sweet, just delicious and interesting and well balanced. I can’t recommend it enough. The cherry on top is that it’s also super reasonable. Parking is a little dicey in that area but if you look in the residential neighborhoods, you’ll eventually find something. If you can, Uber to it that’s even better.“

“Stumbled upon Herbivore Indian Cuisine during a DC visit and really liked the overall experience. Simple, tasty, and satisfying.
Some quick notes:
* Small but cozy restaurant with a welcoming vibe
* Food was good and had that touch of homemade flavor
* Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options available
* Portion size was on the smaller side but filling and flavorful
* Naan was fresh and soft—definitely a highlight
* Quick service and polite staff
* Clean interiors and neatly maintained space
* Roadside parking available nearby, typical for DC
* Great spot for a casual meal with authentic Indian taste“

“Food was great. Overall satisfied with the meal. Wait staff was quick and friendly. Worth a visit. Only way it could be improved is to have citronella candles on the table. There are no candles on the tables outside. Be sure to tip generously!“

“The best Punjabi food in DC. G.O.A.T Room brings the rich flavors of Punjabi/ Indian food here to DMV. They have every dish (fish, goat meat, naan, butter chicken) that I tried there…the BEST that I ever had. I had tried over 100 of restaurants in DMV and no one can beat this. Punjabi food is known for its rich and buttery flavors and G.O.A.T Room uses only fresh spices and herbs, such as turmeric cloves, ginger, and garlic. The owner, Bobby has created an extraordinary dining experience that brings this special food and culture right to DC. Bobby will visit your table and discuss your meal and personally thank you for coming in. He made a wonderful suggestions of food and drinks.. we were amazed with that selections. Butter chicken has a creamy gravy made of onions, yogurt, seeds, and did not disappoint. The goat meat was the best I’ve ever eaten. Naan and everything was perfect and not too oily at all. The portions are good sized and the presentation is exceptional. The atmosphere is lovely with authentic decor, and smartly set tables but mostly it’s the staff’s hospitality that amazed us. Bobby and his team has accomplished what they have set out to do and that is to bring the best food to the people of DMV. With the rich flavors, fresh, spices, freshest yogurt, and love and care in every dish- they have succeeded. Will be making more trips to DC just for their yummy food! Highly recommended. 10 stars. Food: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Atmosphere: 5/5“

“We went to Rasika for Valentine’s Day dinner, and they were offering a three-course prix fixe menu. From the appetizers, we were told that the spinach chaat was the only item from their regular menu. I was a little skeptical at first, but our waiter mentioned it’s one of their most popular dishes, and it absolutely exceeded my expectations. I cleaned the bowl completely and already know I’ll be dreaming about it for a long time. The next time I’m in DC, Rasika will definitely be a must-visit for me.“

“I just had my 2nd absolutely DELICIOUS Indian dinner at Virraaj on Cordell. My husband noticed what he thought was a new restaurant across from the public parking last week so we went there for our Wednesday date nite. We went earlyish and only a couple other tables were taken when we arrived but by the time we left at 6:30 ish it was just about full so best to make reservations. Even with many diners, it was still easy to talk to each other and be heard. I started w/ the AAM Palak Chaat appetizer which I had first tasted at Rasika and have ordered every time I have seen it on a menu. Definitely rivaled Rasika's and the portion was big enough to share w/ my husband as an appetizer. My main was the Murgh Bahak/ Kadai Chicken. So tender, so tasty with onion and green and red bell peppers, delicious brown sauce w/ terrific spices plus a little spicy kick. I ate as much as I could and still had left overs for 2 lunches at home. My husband ordered a lamb dish he enjoyed and finished every morsel including the rice. I saw some reviewers would have liked more rice. We had plenty with our meals so maybe they are giving more w/ each dinner. The waiter was attentive, professional, courteous and nice. The restaurant itself was classy & beautifully appointed - you could tell someone put a great deal of thought and money into designing it. This week we had friends visit who live in VA, within walking distance to Clarendon. We always go there for Indian food because there are so many good Indian restaurants to choose from but they were excited to try Virraaj from our comments about how much we enjoyed it. Before ordering takeout, I called and spoke to Jenni 3 times because I wanted to order what I had ordered last week but couldn't remember the name. She could not have been kinder or more patient in helping me figure out that it was the Kadhai Chicken. It may not seem like it from this review but I am a picky eater - happy to pay any price (just about ) for good food but am too often disappointed in Bethesda. Virraag got the highest marks on everything important to me: service, food, and ambiance - all of us enjoyed our meals and noone was disappointed. We ordered pickup for 4 main dishes including my fav Murgh Bahak/Kadai Chicken, Butter Chicken, Lamb Tawa Masala and Hariyal Murgh Tikka, naan and roti. All went on 2 big lazy susans on the dining room table and we kept on spinning, tasting and enjoying. The wife of the other couple always orders the Butter Chicken and kept on saying how moist and delicious the chicken was tonight. We all tried and liked everything - - not one complaint. So glad that we have a great Indian restaurant to go to and take friends to and not worry that anyone is not going to enjoy -- it is that good!“

“This place serves surprisingly good Indian food fast, and at a very reasonable price. The people are friendly. The seating is comfortable. The portions are large - go there hungry. Butter chicken is surprisingly hard to find in DC and theirs is good. Fresh cucumber and tomato, raita, and chutneys if you want. The Aloo tikki are a fun snack. They also have delicious grab-and-go mango lassi.“

“Fresh, flavorful curries in large portion sizes! I’ve tried their paneer masala with a side of potatoes and cauliflower and roti - which is essentially a full-sized Indian meal, for under twenty. Their samosas and mango lassi were also quite filling and delicious.“

“The lunch buffet was excellent! Great variety and very generous with the ingredients. Lovely service, they brought a basket of fresh (still warm and steaming) delicious naan without me even asking. My only disappointment is that I've lived in the area for over a year and this my first time here, I so wish I would have tried it sooner! I will definitely be back as soon as possible.“

“It was my 1st visit and I really enjoyed the food. Chef Ajay was personally paying attention to our needs and was very approachable. People who are Indian vegetarians or who eat vegan, they must try their vegan bowl. It's wholesome and gives home comfort food feel. Even the burger (vada pav) is super good! Will highly recommend it !!“

“I spent a semester studying abroad and missed food from back home. I tried their biryani and couldn’t stop having it every weekend for the next 6 months. The chicken biryani medium spice is the best biryani I’ve ever had from any restaurant!! It’s the one thing I miss about being in DC“

“The food was delicious and well-prepared, staff are friendly and welcoming.
That said, one area that could use some improvement is their website. The menu listed online doesn't accurately reflect the current pricing, which could be frustrating for customers trying to plan ahead. It’s a small fix that could make a big difference in terms of transparency and customer trust, I’d suggest they update their online information soon before it becomes a more noticeable issue.“

“Incredible experience. I had the Chef's Tasting menu with my partner and it was one of the best food experiences that we have had at any restaurant. Each dish was incredibly put together and beautifully presented. The flavors were unreal and each dish had us saying just send us more of that, until the next dish came. The cocktails were just as beautifully presented as the food and were exceptional. The service was top notch and we absolutely will be returning.“

“I really loved this gem of a restaurant. I loved the buffet. The buffet was priced at around $20 with tax. I got an order of Naan or the common Indian bread included.
The service was excellent. My waiter was helpful and friendly. I liked the dessert and he showed me where the cup and spoon were for it. It was like Halwa pudding. It was yummy, sweet!
I liked the tandoori chicken. The music was Indian drums which are charming. The look of Kadhai, the interior, was of Mughal windows or Arabesque, if you will. But distinctly Indian. It was really an attractive place
It is located in the beating heart of Downtown Bethesda. I believe it is the first Indian restaurant in Montgomery County. I thought I read that somewhere online recently. But I'm not sure, ask them.“

“Had a great dine-in experience at Woodland. The seating was comfortable, and the restaurant had a clean, welcoming vibe. Service was quick and friendly, and the owner made sure guests felt at home. The food was fresh— especially loved the gol kappas, mox pakora, dal makhni, cholay, and aloo palak and chutneys. It can get a bit crowded during peak hours, but the staff handled it well. The moment u walk in to walkout, very welcoming environment, great customer service, owner is very humble and friendly.
Its a must try.“
