“Love this place! Like many have already mentioned, it’s a casual spot so don’t expect anything super fancy. That being said,
it was a very welcoming environment and the food was top notch! My server did a great job and came to check in on me, would love to visit here again.“

“It’s my pleasure to ordering food from Kulan restaurant for my kids and I. I had requested a rice dish with lamb, but to my delight, the portion was more than generous. The lamb itself from Kulan was incredibly delicious, with a tender and succulent texture that melted in my mouth. The flavors were well-balanced, and the combination of the rice and salad complemented the dish perfectly. It was evident that Kulan put great care and attention into preparing the meal. I highly recommend Kulan for anyone looking for exceptional food and service. My kids love Somali food no more burger or fries.“

“Delicious, bold flavorful food! My first experience with many of the dishes. Z our waiter patiently answered all of our questions menu and non-menu related and personable! Restaurants hosts were able to accommodate one of our party guests late arrival without missing a beat! Also to Richard in the kitchen. . .mojo onions. . .(insert chefs kiss here). Delicious! Thank you!! Heads up for foodies that have an opinion on dried (dehydrated) scallops, chef incorporates it into a few dishes so ask if it's not your favorite flavor!“

“Really delicious Ivorian food -- grilled red snapper, stews, and jollof. I love the little curries that came with our dishes. But honestly the fresh ginger juice was seriously the best ginger drink I've had anywhere. We're going back to just pick that stuff up and sip and restore life to our eyes. Friendly folks too :)“

“Granted I haven't been to their restaurant locations, their pop-up location that features their food truck in Forestville Plaza is where my mom was blessed to bring some of their food home for the family to try. Quick story, one weekend I was driving by with her in my vehicle and suddenly we smelled a delicious aroma as well as saw smoke coming from the grill. She noted the place in her mind this weekend she was able to venture there. She relayed that they had a good amount of customers ordering food but the personnel was so patient, kind, and helpful. She brought home some grilled chicken, lamb, jollof rice, macaroni and cheese, and green beans. Majority of the meat and jollof rice was in one container, but altogether enough to feed a family of three people with huge appetites. Everything was delicious, but my favorite was their grilled chicken! It paired nicely with their mustard sauces, especially the hot mustard sauce! They also have The most unique and delicious joloff rice I've ever tasted in my life! The taste of Senegal cannot be compared! I've tried other West African food, but Senegalese food stands out like no other! Originally, Ivorian food was my favorite, but now I can add Senegalese food to my new list of favorite West African food! You have to try it - you won't regret it! I look forward to going to one of their restaurant locations!“

“Wow, after everything I have heard and the awards this place has received, I had high expectations. My TLDR is that some of those expectations were met, others were not.
I have been wanting to try Dogon for a while, my boyfriend finally got a res for my birthday dinner. The food was great, some of it was excellent (Ben’s Bowl, ugh that sauce!!), our server was helpful and met expectations, but I cannot look past feeling rushed during my dining experience with Dogon. Especially when the booking says to plan to be there for at least 2 hours, reservations are so hard to get, and the staff KNEW we were there to enjoy an occasion. Plates were being cleared while we were not done with dishes, or we still had food in our mouths. We felt rushed eating, we felt rushed to place an order, and pressured to order everything for the table at once. We were going to order a bottle of wine, but we felt there would not be enough time to enjoy it. In total we were in and out of the restaurant in an hour and 15 minutes for a full birthday dinner. I want to make crystal clear that our server was great, and this issue isn’t on one person. It is on the service team and their communication with the kitchen.
My dad was the head chef at one of the most popular restaurants in NYC for a long time, I know what is a reasonable expectation of a high volume, high end restaurant, and what isn’t. Pacing is something the restaurant is in full control of. Dogon should look into improving here. Even with this issue, I would still go back to try more of the menu.“

“Food was good compared to 2 other times I have been there previously though it came out lukewarm. The restaurant was chilly so within no time the food was cold. We literally had to eat with our winter jackets on coz of how cold it was. Service could have been better. Our waiter did not ever come back to check if we needed anything else and by the time we were done eating, he just brought the check without even asking if we wanted desert or more drinks. Either he is shy or he just have a flat affect. Not engaging at all. Overall we had a good time.“
“Project Suya was the best decision I made all week!! So juicy and tender and the spice is on point! It's been awhile since I've been and Grace help me pick what I wanted. It's hard to choose when you're hungry..lol. She was sweet and very professional. Highly recommend Project Suya“

“Had Disbe for the first time last night at the Chadwick Boseman foundation fundraiser event for HU. It was so good that I was trying to figure out how to get a bowl before I flew back home in the morning. Ngeri made sure I got a bowl and dropped it at my hotel at midnight after the event! The meat is so tender, the flavors are so good and the service is top tier. Thank you! I’m looking forward to the NYC opening.“

“Great Late-Night Find with Excellent Service!
I ordered from Beyond Suya at their kiosk, and I was genuinely impressed. The staff was so nice, patient, and super communicative throughout the entire process. Even though it wasn’t a dine-in experience, they made sure everything went smoothly and made me feel like a valued customer.
The food was absolutely delicious – full of flavor and clearly made with care. What really stood out, aside from the amazing service, is that they’re open late! If you’re looking for something tasty and satisfying to eat late at night, Beyond Suya is a perfect go-to. I’ll definitely be back again soon. Highly recommend!“

“It's Kenyan style food so the curry among other dishes will not be what you are used to. However, I did enjoy the added spices that the African style brings. I recommend everyone giving this restaurant a try. They have pool tables too. Tell Lindsey I sent you. Bon Appetit“

“Love this place. Walk in the door and immediately to the right is Lawd Shawarma! A wonderfully warm meal of fish & eggs with vegan bread and Christmas-spiced Sorrel / Hibiscus drink. No matter what they call the next respiratory illness, no matter if you need to starve a flu or feed a cold. Problem solved for me. Lawd! I thank you.“

The menu offers a wide of African’s variety in general and Cameroonian’s food in particular. Christele’s Delight s is just the place to be. Highly recommended!“

“My experience was good, just that I look like it gets better at night. The fish is good, just a little salty. The Achu was good, too abd the soya. For next time I will recommend coming at night for a better experience cause the evening looks cold that is not too lively.“

“This place is absolutely amazing! The food is incredibly delicious. I visited for the first time today and was welcomed with warm, friendly service. Everyone was in great spirits, and the atmosphere felt really positive.
When I mentioned it was my first time, they kindly offered me a sample of curry chicken, brown stew, and oxtail over rice. Each one was full of flavor — so good that I had a hard time choosing!
I ended up ordering the brown stew chicken with rice, cabbage, and a side of plantains. Everything was cooked to perfection. The chicken was juicy, tender, and full of flavor. The plantains were fresh off the stove — perfectly sweet and soft.
I absolutely loved my experience here and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend giving them a try!“

“So many folks have been drawn to the new kid on the block, Koma Café, but don’t forget about the welcoming, delicious and expansive Mansa Kunda at the corner of Flower and Erie Aves. There is plenty of interesting space to enjoy a meal, a quiet afternoon coffee or a friendly drink. You can even sit on a chair made from a traditional West African drum. There couldn’t be a more gracious host than Hatib who serves brunch in addition to lunch and dinner. This morning he welcomed five of us for a 10:00am feast, first asking if there was anything we didn’t eat (meat for the most part) but yes to eggs. We trusted him to surprise us and indeed he did. The veggie omelets were tender, whole wheat rolls still warm, the home fries crunchy and rich and the Brussel sprouts delicious. There were small coconut fritters, lightly fried and dusted with powdered sugar. So tasty! The brunch menu at Mansa Kunda includes familiar favorites like blueberry pancakes in addition to traditional West African dishes. Peanut butter chu anyone? It’s open from 10:00am to 9:00pm every day with Happy Hour from 4:00 to 7:00. Hatib is also an excellent baker so the sweets are a treat. We’re very lucky to have Mansa Kunda in the neighborhood. If you haven’t been there already, you’ll find something special to enjoy.“
