“Red Hound Pizza has become the favorite pizza place in Takoma Park for me and many of my friends who live nearby. Their pizzas are hearty and delicious with a thick, 100% whole wheat crust using flours that are grown and milled by one of their neighbors just down the street. They also use local produce when possible and therefore their veggie pizza rotates every two weeks. They also have soft serve which rotates regularly with fun toppings like roasted pear or dehydrated chocolate cake. The owners are really great. The pizza is on the expensive side ($4-5/slice) compared to other pizza so you gotta pay a premium for high-quality ingredients. They also sell pizza by the slice. You can dine-in for casual eating -- they only have a few small tables inside and some more picnic tables in a closed off parking lot in the back. Take note: their pizza is rectangular! And the crust will taste different from almost any other pizza you've had bc of the 100% whole wheat sourdough. Also they don't have gluten-free options but they do always have a vegan option. fwiw Red Hound always uses 100% whole grains -- this will appeal to some (more protein, more fiber!) and not to others.“

Food is amazingly good! I got a Classic Smashburger and was floored by the flavor. Just be sure to use napkins The fries are fantastic and normally I hate waffle fries but these were some of the best fries I've had in a while. The sauces that came with it were great.

My father got some peri peri chicken (hot) and that was also delicious. No one at the table had anything bad to say about the food.

Dude running the register was super nice and gave us tons of sauces for free. He was very attentive to us and personable.“

“Our son lives in the area and we have been here 4-5 since January ( every time we visit) The owners are wonderful and the staff very attentive The fish taco appetizer is wonderful ( can be enough for an entree if not wanted a big meal) I’ve had many of the entrees and never a bad meal . “One of my favorite places for lunch! While they mainly offer salads, there are choices of warm bowls and grilled wraps too—you can get it as is, or have it customized. Lots of toppings to pick from. Good variety of dressings too, and if you need, they can give you a sample of the dressing to try first.

Staff are friendly and efficient. Even during the lunch rush, I never have to wait too long, the line moves fairly quick. If it’s your first time here, I suggest looking over the menu first so you’re not holding up the line looking at all the topping choices, it can be overwhelming. Also, they have a good amount of seating—benches, high tops and tables, and a few tables outside.“

“Ambar's newest location does not disappoint. If you know Ambar, it goes without saying the food is amazing. new offerings on the menu gave me some new favorites to add to my already long list. New cocktails for a new address, yes and thank you! The design esthetic is light and refreshing...And the 2nd floor ceiling is an instagram dream. Easily 5 stars.“

“I came here during my lunch break on a weekday. All the pizza options were available and I got the buffalo chicken slice. I don't make that much $, but the pricing was totally worth it. ($6 I believe) The pictures don't do it justice, but if you like NY style thin crust with that grease drip, you'll love this. The crust had that dough bubble that I love, and you could hear the crunch echo throughout the cafeteria. I would love to see some gluten-light offerings in the future but for now? A quick bite for good quality? You won't be disappointed.“

“Came in on a hot day (July 2025). Loved the noodles, ease of ordering on the monitors and good seating to work thru lunch break. The customer service was 12 out of 10. All the workers were friendly and attentive. They greeted everyone, cleaned up after each guest, and asked every customer how they were doing and if they needed anything. Kudos to the ladies in the kitchen. I do think the AC is broken so it can’t be easy. There were also no bathrooms so I wasn’t able to wash my hands.“

“We visited DC this weekend from NC. I went to DC Vegan with my non-vegan husband. Two days later he's still raving about the chick'n cutlet club. He said it was the best "chicken" sandwich he ever had and I can't convince him it was actually vegan 😆 Well done friends 👏👏 I had the artichoke bowl which was fantastic and the cheesecake is to die for! “Love the 20% discount for federal workers!! The butter toffee bundt cake is delicious, especially with the cinnamon ice cream (only +$2).

The sandwiches are huge and come out steaming hot. I think the catfish sandwich beats the chicken sandwich, but it's close.

Chicken and waffles and French toast were okay. Crab and lobster egg rolls are horrifically greasy. Also, note the 20% mandatory tip.“

My only complaint is that they need to stop letting homeless people come in and sleep at the tables. A woman was asleep at a table for over half an hour without buying anything. Nobody said anything while paying customers had nowhere to sit.“

“Excellent place. The falafel wrap was outstanding chock full of falafel with the requisite salad, hummus and tehini. Even better when you add some hot pepper mix for a little spice. Spouse enjoyed the falafel platter which included a side of pita. Their fries were great, very crunchy. Their food is very authentic to various middle eastern countries that I have visited. “This is the best Chopt in DC. The atmosphere feels welcoming and when you walk in I was greeted by two respectful employees of this establishment. I am a vegan and sometimes my options are limited so Karen and Yessica guided me to pick the Chopt Greek with Falafel. They were very fast and very efficient. “I've been a happy customer at the Courthouse location for 5 years. The staff are super nice and caring! The food is always delicious and prepared beautifully..recommend the falafel bowl, tofu salad, Greek yogurt items, smoothies, avocado toast, soup, and cookies. Very fresh ingredients.

Dietary restrictions: There are many healthy vegetarian options..none of the super processed mock meats are offered. Some of the side items are a huge portion too. Salads that have meat or dairy could be modified easily with vegetarian or vegan options. Vegan soup option is fantastic.“

“This is my 2nd time going to a CAVA location. The first time I dined in. This time I ordered food to go.

The food is Greek Mediterranean. In comparison to Chipotle. I prefer CAVA food. It is definitely healthier.

“I love Chopt Salad, and I come to this location at least once a week. The ingredients are always so fresh. What I am disappointed in is the service after 3pm. I walk in at 545pm and only 2 people ahead of me, and 4 gentleman behind the counter. Grant it they are cleaning up, but ignoring customers, and leave one gentleman to pack salads, chop, and ring customers is unacceptable. Bad customer service will definitely have me going next door to roti.“
