“My husband and I went to Tamales Mary after a surgical procedure to grab some lunch and I've been craving it ever since!
We had the tamales, some street corn and flan. 🤤

The only thing I'd change is the tables and chairs but I also had just had a surgery so they just weren't as comfortable for me at that moment. They are similar to fold out chairs.“

The chicken mole is cooked to perfection, the tortillas are homemade and flavorful, not bland like a lot of places, and I will definitely be going back again to try more of their food! There was a bit of a wait since they were busy, but one bite and I totally understood why. The service was excellent! My server was so attentive and friendly. I also ordered a steak torta to go, and even though there was a small mix up with the order, they handled it like pros, remaking the steak torta and letting me keep both! Honestly, the prices and quality here blow the neighboring spots out of the water. High quality, great value, and even better people. I will definitely be back. “This is a place you definitely need to try out. The food was great. Their salsa exceptional, but we could have used two bowls of it with 6 people. Only the first chips and one salsa are free. Beans and rice good. The various dishes our group got were all very good. Their margarita needed more lime, but was brought over when asked. Servers were friendly and accommodating. Very nice and family run. Let’s support them Grand Rapids!“

I love they are open later on the weekend but would love for them to be open until 10pm the rest of the week or maybe even 11. I never seen a place with such odd hours

“I was honestly devastated when Taqueria San Jose closed in Grand Rapids. I have spent the past several years looking for a place that could maybe be as good with no luck. A lot of good places, but none that had what TSJ had. Their nopales tacos are truly the best I have ever had, it’s my favorite style of supreme tacos, the guacamole is perfect, and the people running the restaurant are so kind! I went back for the first day they reopened on Division and it’s everything I remembered, which is tough when you’re up against nostalgia. Best Taco place in Grand Rapids hands down. Wildly excited they are back and ready to resume taking everyone I know here!“

And they seem to flow like a well oiled machine. saw some great teamwork that helped orders get made and out fast! It's always busy in there. I wait longer for food at McDonald's Donald's. Food is consistent for as long as I can remember. Maybe 30 years atleast! Taste reminds me of the old old long gone restaurant " Ole' Tacos". The taco meat has an original flavor I've searched & searched for (even in Detroit, Memphis & Orlando) and only found here! ♡♡ I stock up EVERY time I am close to them.
