“I went to Taj AL-Yemen simply because it was open early and did not realize the space they took over nor how much variety they have.

1st this was a very famous breakfast spot in Hamtramck before the change of owners and I'm happy to say it still is. Very steady stream of workers coming in for a quick bite or grab coffee and something to go.

2nd the variety is wide and it's all very very good. I ordered fosoulia with egg, chicken galaba but it was too early for tandoori bread. I also got a mango lassi (yes I have to order it everytime I see it)

When I arrived I first drove past remembering the old spot then I double checked GPS. The inside layout of the restaurant has been redone, lots and lots of seating. You still have the doughnut counter but the I noticed Burek, whenever I see Burek I have to order it they have feta and spiced beef. It's super fresh and still warm at 7:15 am.

There's another hot food case, lots of choices but I saw the East African/Western Arabian (Arab/Swahili) style sambosas (yes with the B!) and of course I had to get 6 of those with the spice shake.

Additionally they have the same Arab/Swahili style sesame + honey crackers so I had to get some of these as well.

FINALLY I'm looking and they have the tastiest looking Saffron Rice and it was too fresh to pass up and a medium size box also had to come with me.

Now when I say I bought a lot of food I really mean I bought a lot of food. With tip it was only $70 and I'll be eating for days.

So happy to have found this gem in Hamtramck that opens up super early on my 2nd day of vacation. There's too much good food, the doughnut also look amazing. I'd say you have to go for the samBosas alone.“

“I had the lamb haneeth or something along those lines. Essentially 3 pieces of super tender lamb in very flavorful rice.

To my out of town folks, I highly recommend. I think it was around 24 which is significantly cheaper than what would we pay in busier cities. 10/10 coming back next August for sure“

“New menu was amazing. We had the potatoes, the scallops, burrata, and mushroom with shiitake dish. Burrata was hands down my favorite, thing. Perfect combination!! Highly recommend everything I got and the service was perfect, I mean like I finished my water and by the time my glass hit the table it was refilled. This was actually my second time, I’ve been before for a friends birthday and we had a different menu…..the pomegranate ribs were mouthwatering delicious. They cheerfully made fresh batches of delicious hummus (two varieties) which came with chips and pita bread. I served that, along with two kinds of their fabulous soup, to my dinner guests. “I order from here often for years now. My go to is the chicken stir-fry, no mushrooms or green pepper ands extra carrots. I've had the chicken pita, strips, fries, etc and everything is always pretty good. Prices are fake and you get a pretty decent amount of food. I always have leftovers. Staff has always been friendly and inviting. I recommend if you're looking for great food at the mall or even carry out for dinner.“

“So good! The octopus was the best octopus dish I've ever eaten - it was so tender with a slight crisp and so flavorful. I didn't even get a picture before we dug into it. The pork collar was a great blend of textures and flavors - I got extra bread just to have a delivery vehicle for the peach conserva in this dish. The croquettes were a must too, they packed so much mushroom goodness in them. We got 3 small plates and 4 large plates, which was more than enough for 4 people. Will be coming back again.“

“Just tried your new Ft Wayne location yesterday. Having lived in Saudi Arabia for years, your food is as close to legit as I have found since moving back to the USA!!
