I've been three times they've hit the mall each time. When you stay open until you sell out, you've got a winner. The food was so good I forgot to take pictures from anticipation. We had the waffle fries, roasted carrots with goat cheese, hot wings and two different pizzas.I don't eat pork, so having a beef pepperoni option was clutch! Everything was delicious, the roasted carrots were a present surprise. Our servers were extra attentive and helpful.“

They cheerfully made fresh batches of delicious hummus (two varieties) which came with chips and pita bread. I served that, along with two kinds of their fabulous soup, to my dinner guests. Everyone complimented the delicious food Kal and Ann prepared. If you haven’t tried KAL’s Lunch Bowl, located in the Royal Oak Farmers Market yet, I recommend it. This restaurant always make best homemade pasta, homemade roasted potatoes, homemade meatballs, and many more!!!! This place has been a constant source of wonderful memories for my family and me, spanning from the late 1980s until now. I don’t know why we stopped ordering their signature dishes after my late Russian grandparents passed away. My husband and I moved out of Michigan for many decades. I still remember the best spicy homemade tomato sauce they made; it was truly Italian!“

Food was some of the best in the area bacon not overly crispy, but just chewy enough. Hash browns I often find not well done enough; Heftys in this case makes them perfect, which are golden as well as fluffy.

For years the spiral cut French fries have been my favorite fries at any fast casual chain. Yesterday I was at Royal Oak and the fries have changed for the worse. There is a new batter style and they were too salty. Please bring back the old fries!!!“
