“We had dinner at Kona last night in Tecumseh on the rooftop. We had a fantastic meal and the service was great, considering there was only one wait staff up there. He did a wonderful job. My only complaint would be the seating. They are funky looking chairs, but they’re SOOOO uncomfortable. I’m 5’6 and the seat was way too deep!! Forces you to sit perched forward, which is really uncomfortable. And the seats are so hard I actually had a very sore tailbone. Other than that it was GREAT!!!!“

From the moment we were seated, she made us feel welcome and attended to our needs with genuine warmth and professionalism. “Our 1st time here, and it was NOT disappointing! Our server, Sierra was amazing, answering every question we had with ease. Attentive and she stayed on top of things. Our cook, Zeffrey (spelling may be wrong) was a delight! He was very, very good at his job, and my food, (I ordered the chicken) was cooked to perfection. The whole experience was fun, we laughed and got an amazing meal. We will definitely be returning!“

She's known my husband since he used to work at a bank in town, and remembered him years later, and was so happy to see him. I want to go back asap! We had a Korean bbq bento box, spider roll, California rolls, and soft shell crab appetizer. Also my husband got to try a complimentary seaweed salad. Did I say the food was amazing? “I visited during the evening hours of the weekdays and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. She explained to me the Korean menu besides sushi and Japanese. The dishes I ordered were pretty and delicious. The atmospheric music played quietly in the restaurant and the hall staff checked the table from time to time, allowing me to have a comfortable and pleasant meal. It was a very satisfying meal. I will visit again.“

When we were there we were told we couldn’t order fresh sushi and had to get it from the conveyor belt, though this wasn’t a problem, the sushi on the belt was plentiful and of a decent variety. You could get hot food to order still however. Sushi was tasty and reasonably priced compared to most Jersey prices, in line with what you’d expect on mainland UK. However hot food was a bit on the pricy side and not amazing. Staff were helpful and attentive.“

A great classic sushi place! Very fresh fish prepared by master chefs. They have a great selection of classic rolls, speciality rolls and some unique ones too.

They do have saki and Japanese beers as well. Dine in or carry out.

Everything is always fresh, fast and delicious! They've been here a long time and worth the drive to.

“Black Pine Tree has a wonderful ambiance! It’s well decorated, the younger people in our party specifically enjoyed the wall with the color-changing lights. There are decent vegetarian options, which are all delicious, and staff is decently knowledgeable about them all.

Vegetarian options: The Yakisoba is a vegetarian dish that consists of noodles and a heap of delicious vegetables.
There are several vegetarian sushi rolls which are also tasty.“

“For my last night in Detroit I braved the windy rainy weather to trek over from the Ren Cen to the downtown Maru for a solo dinner—and I really lucked out. I was still in time for happy hour with its reduced prices, so I went for it! I ordered a couple of glasses of house white, which was quite good (not always the case w/ house wines). I then supped, first on an order of chicken gyoza, which was really large (esp for such a low price). Then I ordered the Crouching Tiger roll, which was also quite generous in size, especially at the happy hour price. I'd wanted to try some other items, but my appetite was more than satisfied after the roll, so I hadda call it a night. Recommend Maru for happy hour w/o hesitation. The vibe is urban casual with a mostly youngish crowd, but comfortable for any age.“

We said NO & to have a fresh order of hibachi chicken prepared for us. They didn't like that m u ch. It took a very long time to get our freshly cooked dish. Maybe that's why it was so small, they were pissed they had to remake our food because they cooked the moisture completely out of the chicken. Come on guys, really. The booths are peeling, cracking & splitting apart, needs a redo for sure. We hate a place that is run down & in need of reupholster. Not good for cleanliness.“
