“I walked over to The King’s House for lunch while getting my motorcycle tuned up at Davis Motorsports just down the street. I got one of their specials, the taco salad with chicken. It was among the best taco salads I’ve had. I especially enjoyed the burst of flavor from the fresh cherry tomatoes generously embedded in the salad. The shell is clearly home made, as is the unique sauce. The seasoning and herbs on the chicken were also perfect. Everything was very fresh. The presentation was excellent. Their ice tea is clearly brewed fresh too. I went ahead and had a mojito for desert and found it well crafted and refreshing on a July afternoon.

My server was professional and personable.

The place wasn’t very busy at lunch time. But I got the impression their busy time is evenings. Tables are nicely spaced. They have outdoor dining. Ample free parking in their dedicated lot. I enjoyed their playlist as I ate - a diverse mix of mostly alternative soft rock. I was pleased that they didn’t have any distracting TVs in the restaurant.

Everything is accessible to wheelchairs.

Kid-friendliness: Wooden tables and chairs, concrete floor - nothing fancy about the space - but everything is clean and comfortable. It would be an welcoming place to bring the whole family.

“We were just passing through town, getting a little hungry, and we saw this place with a bunch of motorcycles out front. (We know what that means!) We went in, sat at the bar, got served by the owner (Greg, I think). I had chili, the wife had a philly steak sammich. Fantastic! We hung out for a while, watched a little football, and met some of the locals. Great food, fun people, nice place. We'll be back!“

“There’s something of a paucity of fine dining options in Buffalo, but I remembered that my late father, Charles LeRoy Nelson, Jr, always raved about a restaurant at the Buffalo golf course. So I researched it, and I think he must have been referring to Hilltop Bar & Grill at Wild Marsh Golf Club. So we went there on Friday, May 3rd, 2024 for dinner. I’m happy to report that this restaurant has earned the highly coveted Eric Carlisle Nelson Esteemed Diner Recommendation. My key observations follow:

1. They do not accept reservations. However, we got a table right away when we arrived at 6:10pm on a Friday — albeit the last table available.

2. While it wasn’t what I would call quiet, the noise level was not bad at all. One could carry on a conversation without raising one’s voice.

3. Host and wait staff were excellent, friendly, and attentive.

4. All of our food was very good. Mee Lee had the beef tacos. I got a side salad and BLT with avocado. (See photos). Nothing was especially fancy, but everything was very fresh and well-made and delicious! The food was unpretentious.

5. The prices were amazingly low, given the high quality of the food, and well worth the price. We ended up with a final bill of only $30, plus tip.

6. The bill could have been higher, but we didn’t have any drinks, because they didn’t have whole milk (or any milk) as a beverage option. This is a demerit, but one that is easily remedied. Every restaurant should offer whole milk. Minnesota is a dairy state, and milk complements every meal!

7. I counted six different customers wearing baseball caps while dining. You don’t have to read Emily Post’s Guide to Etiquette to know that men may not wear hats indoors — and especially not while dining. One of them was a faux “Army” hat, which I thought particularly incongruous, given the fact that Army regulations strictly prohibit the wearing of any kind of hat or “cover” indoors. The restaurant would do well to post this as a rule at the front door. (I would, if it were my restaurant). Manners makyth man!

8. One diner barked loudly across the dining room for his waitress, twice. I looked over to see if he had had too many drinks. I’m not sure what his deal was, but he didn’t seem to realize that he was behaving like a Philistine. I can’t fault the restaurant for this, but it is worth noting.“

“We showed up for pizza and onion rings and a beer, watch Viking game! No wait for a table got the little one a booster wood seat so to speak which worked really well!

“Chef Aiden is the best cook in the world. My food was amazing. Service was amazing and chef Aiden absolutely perfected the dish with love and care. I know his name because I asked my server. I would love to shake his hand because only then will I have been touched by greatness. It may have been the best food my palate has ever come into physical contact with. This experience was truly remarkable and if I could go back in time in a flux capacitor to tell my younger self about this restaurant sooner I truly would. “We had a large party and got there early to make sure we had enough tables. The staff were wonderful, attentive and helpful, especially with accommodating dietary needs. I accidentally found THE BEST CHEESE CURDS I HAVE EVER HAD! The food was amazing, great burgers, quesadillas, ealleye amd steak. Everyone was happy! Expect us back!

Dietary restrictions: Gluten free bun available, I chose no bun for my burger. Our server was helpful in making sure we knew what our options were.“
