“One of the only places we could find that was open on Thanksgiving. We were immediately greeted and drink orders were taken promptly. We had an appetizer of cheese garlic toast which arrived quickly and was delicious. We also had the Thanksgiving dinner which had huge, generous portions and the Roadhog pizza. The two staff members who were working checked in on us frequently and made sure we had everything we needed. So grateful we found this place!“

Especially loved the Goodbye Earl cocktail. We had a number of outstanding dishes. The overall winner was the steak tartare but the grilled prawns and scallops were wonderful as well.“

“Excellent staff, great selection of microbrew beers as well as Domestic beers , large choices of liquor, Homemade pizza available. Great atmosphere , your all time neighborhood gathering place, very clean ,especially the restrooms, I go there time and time again.if your ready to meet your friends or family, or go out alone it's a safe place to be ! 🤗“

“My friends had told me I have to try the coneys at the Gopher Bar. I’m in St. Paul like never, so I have never got to go. I tried to go in July, but they were closed. And with their limited hours, it makes it tough.

I was finally in the area on a Saturday night, and hungry. I stopped in and it was well lit with plenty of seating. Fun, friendly atmosphere with a great wait staff. Fast service for a Saturday evening after 10pm. Got the drinks quickly, got the food quickly. Great service. I might go back just for the service.

I got the deep fried ravioli as an appetizer. Kind of like pizza rolls. They were delicious. I’d get them again for sure.

I also finally got to try the coneys. While they are expensive at $4 apiece, they are delicious. Served hot with a mountain of onions and on special toasted buns specifically for these coneys, it was a great experience. The only knock on the coneys is they don’t come with mustard on them which was odd. I knew they were missing something. I added the mustard and they were great. The dogs have a great “snap” to them when you bite them as they should.

I will definitely be back. Best coney’s in the metro that I’ve found. And I’ve tried a LOT of places.

Just be warned, parking in ST. Paul can be a nightmare and the Gopher Bar only takes cash.

It would be nice if they offered even bar snacks, chips, a Heggies ..something. But it's great either way!“

“This place is a solid dive bar that takes you right back to the '70s. It's not fancy, just good drinks at great prices. The place is super relaxed, and the crowd is friendly and laid-back. It’s in the heart of downtown. This bar is an adults type place, though—wouldn't recommend bring the kids. If you're looking for a no-frills spot to grab a drink and relax, this is it. Highly recommend!“

The service was significantly delayed and the food was mediocre at best. Don’t spend your money here until they fix this problem.“

They keep their old tradition as cash only, which the bartender explained, even though card option would’ve been nice since the atm and my bank both will charge fees withdrawing cash. Found out the hard way, but you have the option to leave if you don’t like it , no one is forcing you stay. bartender is a nice guy and made me feel welcome.“

“When I eat I drink Bloody Mary's they just taste better with my food if I feel like a drink, let me tell you I had a very reasonable priced Bloody Mary and it was on Point I could taste everything in the drink a first for me and it had all the fixings as well, I appreciated that. They also have a place too eat Pop's and Son grill I ordered 4 wings and a brisket topped Baked potato I asked for my wings hard didn't get that but they tasted ok and the brisket was not a lot but also good I didn't bring my wings back because they seemed real busy they brought me someone else's food at first them my order and I appreciated Who I assume was Pop came and talked to his customer's checking on them and their food they gave us A 1 service I work in kitchen's and understand things happen sometimes it's how you react to the situation and after that matters the most and they gave the all. I will try them again because they food is good, and they fact they was busy, busy so that let me know a lil sum People like they food I was also asking people in the line about food and if they been here before and I got more yes than no and good food I heard ok Pop and Sons I'll be back..the bar also had karaoke A good time was had Thanks Cheers“

“This is an absolutely wonderful male dive bar, it's quiet and has quick service... if you are a female watch out for Steve(married) and be ready for probably too much attention because it's all older men and a couple biddies around.“

“I happened to find this place when my son had to have emergency surgery...first off, very friendly staff and regulars, could see the stress on my face and were so kind! But the best part, hands down, which is why I'm leaving this review 3 years later is bc Bob's steak sandwich (should be Bob's FAMOUS steak sandwich) was THE F’N BEST sandwich my son and I have ever had - to date! If fact, 3 years later and my son is still talking about Bob's steak sandwich being the best food he's ever eaten! So much so that for his birthday in a few weeks, he doesn't want a party or gifts, just to take a trip to the cities for his favorite dinner!“
