“My favorite Chinese place in town. It's not fancy - there are only three tables at this little hole in the wall. But the food is tremendous. Good serving sizes, reasonable prices, and the consistency is locked in. Try this place, you will love it.“

“Not sure why some say the service here is bad? I’ve been coming here going on over 18 years and even with the new owners I have ALWAYS experienced the BEST Service, food and prices than any where else and I’ve eaten Chinese food all over the USA and Europe. Even better than San Francisco where I grew up. In my opinion anyone who has a bad experience is probably not to easily pleased wherever they go or with ever whom they inner act with. Yes they get busy and sometimes mistakes can be made. Be kind and Be understanding life is more beautiful and precious this way and more peaceful. 😉👌💕😃👍“

“NO vegetables in Shrimp St. Paul sandwich. Sweet & Sour Shrimp was 1 container of plain white rice, NO vegetables anywhere, the "shrimp" (2/3 plain fried breading & 1/3 shrimp) was NOT cooked in sweet & sour sauce, and packed separately. Quality is now abominable.“

“This was such a cute little family owned restaurant. While it looked like most people picked up for delivery, you can eat in and they give you paper plates. We ordered the popcorn chicken which had fried basil in it and it was so unexpected and delicious! My littles loved the stir fry noodles. Also unexpected was what they called Chicken Chili stir fry! The pork belly melted in our mouths!! Absolutely delicious. We will be back“

“There’s a reason Cate Zone is a frequently celebrated restaurant in the St. Louis subreddit. It’s one of the best places in town and represents beautifully the diversity of the city. So many standout dishes: the crispy fish or shrimp, eggplant, tofu, cumin lamb, bok choy… Protip: go with a group of at least four and arrive at opening to get a table with no wait. Order n + 1 dishes and at least one order of crispy fish. Feast, everyone takes home a box of leftovers, and it’s never more than $30 a person.“

“This is my favorite go to Chinese restaurant in St Louis!! All the dishes are sooo good, so good that I have to get 2-3 each time and have leftovers. My go to dishes are chicken n broccoli ( healthier), general tsos and the mei fun noodles Singapore style bc it has a little more pazazz with a light curry flavor!! The Mei fun Singapore style is a must try!!“

“Good food, kind of expensive. It's worth it for the place itself (clean, good decor) and was quick too. One dish is enough for one person (I was afraid it'd be too little). They also have good vegetarian options. Anyways, I'd reccomend the eggplant and dumplings!!!“

“Movoc Hot Pot is a really solid option for malatang, especially in the St. Louis area. I was impressed by the selection of seafood (scallops, abalone, mussels) and meats. The pricing felt a bit high at $15.99/lb, but the variety of food options justifies it. The sauce bar was lacking compared to other malatang places. Free rice is available for dine-in and $2 for take-out. There were labels for the ingredients, and ingredients were constantly being stocked. Overall, it's a really solid food spot, and I will definitely be coming back when I'm craving malatang.“

“Thank you Xièxiè nǐ! for one of the best customer service experiences since being back in the area! Your smiles and words shone during ordering, and when you came out to bring me our food! The egg dishes, such as St. Paul's and Egg Food Young, seem to contain double the eggs compared to other restaurants. I will be back to try the Teriyaki Chicken as you requested! Also, I love your presentation with the egg foo young! It keeps the egg warmer!“

“Found this place on TikTok. Definitely worth the hype. A but run down but that's usually all the good food spots. The fried rice was different from what I've had in the past in a good way. Service was meh but my food was good and hot. Would recommend“

“Whole duck was delicious. First time visiting and will be back. Didn't have a chance to try anything else because it was the day of thanksgiving and the kitchen was closed to their other items and all I wanted was a whole duck anyway but will go back to try other items of the menu. Duck EXCELLENT!“

“Food is pretty good. My go to dishes are veg egg foo young, s&s chicken, potstickers. Efy not bad but their gravy needs work. Also, if you get veg fried rice or something you have to also ask for egg in it, & you get charged for EVERY LITTLE THING. They charged me pork efy, minus pork, no minus charge, then charged for veggies. Same w/ the rice. They did similar thing on the lomain we ordered. Crazy. The food is good, s&s chicken definitely tasty. I'd go back.“

“I ordered the orange chicken and beef and broccoli combos tonight, and they were delicious! Everything was nice and hot. The portions are very generous. I like that the wall has an enlarged version of the menu; it makes it easy to order. We will order again!“

“The food was OK. I kind of felt that I got ripped when I ordered a whole order of pork fried rice. It came to a little bitty small plastic container. I was very upset with that because a couple weeks prior I ordered a half order of fried rice and it pretty much came in the same plastic container. I like my rice to come in boxes like old-fashioned way. But the food was very good though I still come back“

“We have loved PF Changs for years, but this location is not quite up to snuff (or the corporation has altered the recipe again...who knows). We always get the Singapore Street Noodles, and the dish was so salty that we found it distasteful; believe me, we don't eat a low-salt diet and don't mind strong seasoning. I recommend avoiding that item. We were traveling and didn't want to carry leftovers, so the only other item we had was the hot and sour soup, which was good.“

“I absolutely love this restaurant! ❤️I have been in love with this place over 20 yrs!! I have traveled all over the US and this is the best Chinese restaurant! I If you are looking for fried rice, chicken wings, and mouth watering St Paul sandwich ( it’s fried egg, onion, bean sprouts and your choice of protein on a bed of lettuce with mayo and pickles!!) YUMMY 🤗 Very affordable too! If you live here or passing through STL this place is a must!!“

“The service that I received was A1. The food was hot, fresh, and tasty. The St. Paul was probably the best I've ever had. The ingredients seemed very fresh and they sprinkled a little salt on top of the St. Paul patty which was a pleasant surprise for my taste buds. The hot braised chicken is good. The crab rangoon is really good. The fried rice isn't anything to brag about in my opinion though it's not bad by any means. It's a mix between the cities dark fried rice and the county's typical light colored rice. I'd probably opt for steamed white rice next time. My only complaint is that there was a man sitting inside asking everyone for money. He wasn't rude by any means but it made me uncomfortable. With all that said, I'd still go back because the food was really good overall.“

“I’m from STL but moved to Nashville. Everytime I come home I GOTTA go to China moon. The crab Rangoon never fails, sweet, hot, and abundant. The rice is really good too. I’m mainly a St. Paul person so that’s what I usually get and absolutely love it! And I got more of my family switching to them as well!“

“Excellent Chinese cuisine! I'm very particular in the taste of Chinese food, so I'm always weary of trying new places. I tried Yang a few years ago, and have yet to eat Chinese food anywhere else. The two owners do a marvelous job at meeting demand of customers. Highly recommend?“

“They have the best food around me. They sold their original space for a club that literally closed down after 2 months. The serivice is quick. They get you in they get you out. I like that. I don't want to start up a conversation when I just want my food.“
“Love this place. Clean kitchen. You can see them cook right behind the counter. My NEW FAVORITE Chinese place by far. And it is right down the street from my house. Only down side is no delivery but thats ok bc they are so close and delicious also bc they are open on sunday.“

“This is a great little hole in the wall but amazing Chinese restaurant! I stumbled upon it while having a craving for Hot & Sour soup. The location is easy to get to off Lindbergh. I was amazing how many locals were inside ordering food and taking it to go. It seems to be mostly a to go spot. I was given some recommendations right there from some of their most loyal customers. Hands down their general tso chicken was indeed great. And the soup I craved didn’t disappoint! I’ll be back.“

“Food was amazing, and staff were very knowledgeable about selections and cuts available (shoutout to Jim). The Chongqing spicy broth added a great but not overbearing heat, while the sweeter Sukiyaki style broth paired perfectly with the beef we received. The course came with a plentiful amount of vegetables and other sides, with complementary additional spices and flavorings. Perfect place to grab a warm meal in the winter, at a great spot.“

“I eat here about twice a month and I can tell it's top notch. The owners are so friendly and accommodating to how you want your dish made. All establishments vary in prep so please let them know your preference ahead of time. Cannot say enough good about the crispy fried wings and fried rice dishes. Stop in if you are ever near the airport. You will not be let down!!!“

“first time coming to this place and wow. the food here was amazing even the fried rice which has peas and carrots in it. now for those who are local to St Louis know that peas and carrots don't typically go in Chop Suey fried rice but this place is the exception. besides the fried rice being phenomenal the roasted duck is delicious. but the star of the show was the pickled vegetables that came with the roasted duck. I am a person that absolutely hates cucumbers, but the way they pick up these cucumbers with the carrots was divine. I could have ate these things like grapes they were that delicious and I absolutely loath cucumbers. so all in all I give this place a solid 9.7 out of 10 rating scale.“

“The food here is great, I cannot deny that. However, one great improvement that needs to be met is professional communication with customers. I have seen staff deflect, and argue with customers when they share their grievance. That is very unprofessional. Please learn how to respect the community that patronize your business daily!!! When customers share their grievances, please learn how to listen and find a way to accommodate their need.“

“Large portion of combination plate. Ordered to-go general two’s chicken. Large crispy chicken pieces, broccoli, good sauce but not spicy (ordered regular, it said spicy). White rice is basic good white rice, not jasmine. Crab ragoon only sweet cream cheese filling, placed in same container as food, causes them to get softer. Still tastes very good. Great price for portion of food! Placed order online. Easy.
Parking: Drive thru window on side for take out orders. Small inside no seating, take out is best.“

“Nice Chinese restaurant, I ordered the Vegetable Noodles. It had broccoli, with some grated carrots, sliced nappa cabbage, green onions, perhaps more. Most are under the noodles in the photo. Lots of sauce. Fast service. Food served hot off the wok.“

“My late night go to when I work like. Fried rice and duck and noodles are the best ive had. Atmosphere lacks but it's in a good area they have to protect themselves. Unlike other places they always take my last minute order. Other places turn you down even before close these days. Not them.“

“After trying several other places in the area, we finally decided to give this place a try as it's super close...SO GLAD WE DID. It is absolutely our new go-to place. My 14yo even requested it for a birthday dinner with friends...we ordered 9 combination dinners with additional stuff and the whole order was perfect. Everyone loved it and there are plenty of leftovers. We love that they have the combination dinners...entree, rice/noodle choice and either crab Rangoon or egg roll for a great price.“

“It’s truly heartbreaking to see all of the people leaving negative reviews for this restaurant. The owners are kind hearted and hardworking people who have been contributing to St. Louis’ diverse restaurant scene for years- it’s important for hole in the wall family owned restaurants like Yan Wu to exist and continue adding to the social and cultural fabric of the city, as more and more go out of business or are replaced by characterless chains. Please take a second to try and examine why you are so quick to judge a minority owned business and label the owners as “rude” due to communication barriers or assume they are talking about you when they speak in their native language rather than impulsively attempt to put another local restaurant out of business.“

“PROS: Good and inexpensive food. Friendly service. Convenient, right off of the highway. Online ordering option.
CONS: Doesn’t take calls after 8PM even though they close about an hour later. Somewhat small containers of rice included with meals.“
