“This was such a cute little family owned restaurant. While it looked like most people picked up for delivery, you can eat in and they give you paper plates. We ordered the popcorn chicken which had fried basil in it and it was so unexpected and delicious! My littles loved the stir fry noodles. Also unexpected was what they called Chicken Chili stir fry! The pork belly melted in our mouths!! Absolutely delicious. We will be back“

“There’s a reason Cate Zone is a frequently celebrated restaurant in the St. Louis subreddit. It’s one of the best places in town and represents beautifully the diversity of the city. So many standout dishes: the crispy fish or shrimp, eggplant, tofu, cumin lamb, bok choy… Protip: go with a group of at least four and arrive at opening to get a table with no wait. Order n + 1 dishes and at least one order of crispy fish. Feast, everyone takes home a box of leftovers, and it’s never more than $30 a person.“

“NO vegetables in Shrimp St. Paul sandwich. Sweet & Sour Shrimp was 1 container of plain white rice, NO vegetables anywhere, the "shrimp" (2/3 plain fried breading & 1/3 shrimp) was NOT cooked in sweet & sour sauce, and packed separately. Quality is now abominable.“

My go to dishes are chicken n broccoli ( healthier), general tsos and the mei fun noodles Singapore style bc it has a little more pazazz with a light curry flavor!! “After muchhh research we landed on Yet Bun for our taste of St Louis fried rice and it didn’t disappoint. We called our order in but I think because it was so large they didn’t start (or complete) the order until we arrived …. likely because they only take cash. I’d recommend having your money ready to pay in hand or your pocket (as opposed to a purse or wallet). Another customer had told us of an instance of someone going to pay and someone ran in the store and snatched their money out of their hand. I’d recommend verifying your order total as well because we almost got charged twice for our sodas but the other employee missed was written on the bag.

I had a whole special fried rice (no ham and added green peppers) and a beef St Paul (no mayo). The rice was everything I was hoping it’d be and the red pepper and sauce combinations really set it off. The St Paul honestly was great without the mayo but I did get a side of gravy to dip it in and the combo was perfect. Because I got a whole I had leftovers for days so this is well worth the value. This is a must stop for me the next time I visit!“

“The BEST Chinese restaurant in Saint Louis. I cannot stress how clean the restaurant is and how great the food and service are. It is so hard to find a great Chinese sit down restaurant and this is the place. Fresh, delicious and always hot. I recommend this restaurant to everyone that I know. “One of the best in town. My favorite is Tomato soup base (imo, it's better than Haidilao) . If you want stir fry then go with no.7 . I have been here countless time and the quality is always the same. Highly recommended it to anyone who loves hot pot and authentic Chinese food.“

“Best St. Paul sandwich I've found so far. Sometimes a little salty, but still the best I've had. I've tried other food from here, but mainly come for the St. Paul. You can call in a pickup order, which seems to be what most people do. Or you can come wait while your order is being prepared. They have a dining room but rarely have I seen anyone eating there... the wait is usually something like 15 minutes. You ring a bell through the plastic partitioned ordering window when you arrive and someone will come out of the kitchen (if no one is already there) to take your order. This place isn't fancy by any means, and the tables seem like they could use a cleaning. Of note are the plants up front which are seemingly ancient. Lastly, not the St. Paul, but I went in late on a rainy night and had the best egg drop soup I've ever had. It may be because I was the only customer at the time, but I will definitely be back to try for that experience again.

“This restaurant appears to have been a drive in at some point so pulling into the parking lot is kind of cool. Once you get out of your car, you go inside and order your food. They were doing a brisk carry out business, obviously they were very well known in the neighborhood. We chose to eat in one of the booths. Yes, it wouldn't hurt if someone did a bit of cleaning around the windows, but we weren't too put off and really enjoyed our meals. Would return.“

CONS: Doesn’t take calls after 8PM even though they close about an hour later. Somewhat small containers of rice included with meals.“

Poor service for real. Always call and someone either irritated or just answers the phone and place you on hold for long periods of time.

Hopefully they get more workers so they won't feel overwhelmed. But service need mad improvement.“

I was very upset with that because a couple weeks prior I ordered a half order of fried rice and it pretty much came in the same plastic container. “In the majority of these restaurant/Chinese....what's to be expected but you either call your order in before you go, or order when you get there. The services are not like a real restaurant...hell you can even go to the restrooms in the majority of them. The food is cooked to order and usually be reasonably-priced and good. I can't say even say if they are rude...I have never been treated rude here, your service is simple "How can I help you "give you a total, you pay. You either get a number or they call out what your order number, you get your bag, check it and go. The majority of the places you stand and wait on your food and go. I can say...in the City for me the food is better....at the majority of the all Chinese restaurants. Everyone has their favorite one to go too...but by far the City's restaurants are better.“

There was a man outside the door pan handling and it made us uncomfortable. We waited inside but there were no chairs. It's located is a plain old building.“

“This place has been here since I can remember. My Uncle worked at the wonder bread factory down the street from here over 40 years ago. They are inventing new ways of making Asian cuisine here with the Ultimate Saint Paul sandwich, and the infamous 'Happy Box'. Your favorite rice, or noodles, topped with saint paul patty, and asian gravy. Sprinkle a little red pepper, and you've got street food like your over there buying it. The neighborhood has changed a bit, but for the most part its still the best fried rice I've ever had in the states?????“

“first time coming to this place and wow. the food here was amazing even the fried rice which has peas and carrots in it. now for those who are local to St Louis know that peas and carrots don't typically go in Chop Suey fried rice but this place is the exception. besides the fried rice being phenomenal the roasted duck is delicious. but the star of the show was the pickled vegetables that came with the roasted duck. I am a person that absolutely hates cucumbers, but the way they pick up these cucumbers with the carrots was divine. I could have ate these things like grapes they were that delicious and I absolutely loath cucumbers. so all in all I give this place a solid 9.7 out of 10 rating scale.“

“Holy cow the price was good. My family of 4 paid $33 and had enough food for 2 meals each. The rangoons, egg rolls, and fried rice are as good as I've ever had. I'd never had a St. Paul's sandwich before, so Chong Wah's was my first. It was delicious, huge, and only $5! The General Tso's was slightly less flavorful than I was expecting (my wife loved it though), but nothing a complementary little soy sauce and chili seasoning couldn't fix. The texture of the chicken was amazing too, super crispy.

Plan on carrying out whatever you order. The lobby is really small and full of stuff, so there's not much room to sit and eat. But if you're looking for carryout, this place is top notch.“

“Saint Louis Kitchen is my go-to restaurant for Chinese takeout. The portions are generous and the food is always good. I recommend picking up your order for maximum freshness, but I've never had a problem with delivery. Maplewood is lucky to have so many great places to eat, and Saint Louis Kitchen is one of my favorites.“
