“Visiting from Montreal and Hubby wanted to visit a St. Louis Jazz or Blues bar/restaurant and this came up in several searches. We had a great time with a great meal sharing several dishes and topping it off with a flaming bananas foster. We went on a Wednesday night and there was music, but it was with a 70 and 80 vibes. Wasn't what we were expecting but was a fun time nonetheless. Would definitely visit again!!“

I ordered sweet tea - I am always hesitant about this when I visit a restaurant for the first time because I am a complete tea snob but it was perfect amount of sweet and most importantly home brewed! We had the seafood broil meant for 2 people - called Big Bend boil I think. Absolutely out of this world delicious Cajun flavor. We picked the “very hot” option because we have a high tolerance and it definitely had a kick! We will probably go hotter next time but that probably wouldn’t be for everyone, we are heat freaks. Lastly our waiter was wonderful, right amount of tentative and friendly. Wish I got his name. We will be back!“

“We came into Charlie Gitto’s on the Hill with no reservation, to celebrate my birthday. There was a short wait for seating but we got drinks and were checked on during our wait. The only thing that was lacking was our waitress seemed a little put off being there. She was timely and attentive, but really not very friendly. “I've lived in St. Louis for a little over 20 years and I've heard about the Capital Grill but never visited before. I decided for my birthday this year, we'd try it. I even offered to split the cost with my wife since I had heard it was expensive. Well, it was expensive, but sometimes you absolutely get what you pay for - I was blown away. We started with a giant piece of bacon as an appetizer (Nueske's Cherrywood Smoked Bacon with Korean BBQ). It was about 1/2 in thick cut into bite sized chunks and it was delicious! We moved on to soup, my wife had the french onion soup with was covered with a thick layer of cheese, I had the lobster bisque, and my daughter had the butternut squash bisque - all three were good. The lobster in my bisque was tender and flavorful. I had the 14oz KC strip, my daughter had the 10oz filet, and my wife had the roasted chicken breast. My daughter's filet was easily 12oz and it was cooked perfectly, my KC strip was cooked perfectly and very flavorful, and my wife's chicken was huge (and delicious since I ate her leftovers the next day for lunch). We ordered creamed spinach and parmesan truffle fries for the table. The sides were good but not as good as the other items. Next time (and we will be back) we will probably go with mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach. We split the cream brulee and the flourless chocolate espresso cake for desert and because it was my birthday they brought me a sample of the cheesecake and coconut cream pie on a plate with Happy Birthday written out in icing. I'll definitely get the cream brulee again, it was perfect and my wife and daughter loved the cake. Sometimes you just gotta splurge and when you get that urge - try the Capital Grill, you won't regret it. (And by the way, my wife ended up picking up the check - so maybe it was that expensive.)“

“Recently ate there, really by accident, we had tickets for an early performance at the Fox theater, but had no reservations. Had waited at another restaurant which was clear we would not have time to eat, and catch the performance. So we went across the street to try Gary’s. The 5 of us got right in, our waiter was fantastic, he was so talented, and great with my granddaughters. Ate a wonderful meal, everyone liked their selection. We did not have time for dessert so the waiter brought us each of us over a piece of chocolate cake with our meals.😊 we will be going back to Gary’s, because of the service and food.
