“I live in a town situated along US 70, waaay out on the other side of the country(Arizona). Out here for work, and setting foot in North Carolina for the first time ever. I noticed this place while passing by, saw how full the parking lot was, and decided to pop in for dinner. Had a bbq plate with pork ribs, a piece of fried chicken, collard greens, green beans, Cole slaw, hush puppies and a corn stick. For dessert I had the peach cobbler. Everything was amazing. Friendly service. Food was tasty with a “home cooked” quality about it. It’s one of those things that I just don’t experience at chain restaurants with all of the traveling I do. The bbq is eastern NC style which I’ve read uses vinegar and mustard as a base. Everything was tasty, and slightly different than what I’m used to. In a good way! I couldn’t think of a better way to bring a long travel day to a close, and if I’m ever out this way again, I’ll definitely come back!“

“I don’t normally write reviews for restaurants but after visiting Prime, I just had to let others know. First, the restaurant was clean and beautiful inside and out. The staff was friendly and attentive. The line to order was out the door. I guess that should have been my first clue that the service and food was going to be out of this world. They offered cold water to us while we waited in line. This was me and my family’s first time trying this restaurant and they were so patient and answered all our questions on meat and the best options. (Yes, we were those people holding up the line. Sorry!) The young men cutting and preparing the meat were knowledgeable and super nice. I ended up purchasing several items (Brisket, Ribs, House Made Sausage, and Turkey Breast). All I can say is if you are within 100 miles of this place you must make the trip! Your stomach will love you for it!“

“This was my first visit to the Raleigh location on May 28, 2025 with two out of town guests. three diff dishes were ordered..brisket, St. Louis rubbed ribs and burnt ends. The brisket and burnt ends were amazing. The ribs however were dry and tough. The meat certainly did not fall off the bone. I would not recommend the ribs based on this experience.“

“Best barbecue we have ever had ! We will definitely be returning to here again. Everything was so tasty and flavorful ! The barbecue chicken was fall off the bone , the okra was fried to perfection, the potato salad was delicious too and the pulled pork was awesome with their house made sauces!Our waitress was soo nice too, was so welcoming and we really appreciated it because our family has been going through a tough time. “On Wednesday, March 4, 2026; my wife, granddaughter and I stopped at City Barbeque at 4122 Lake Boone Trial Raleigh, NC for lunch. The food was delicious and the service was friendly and polite. The manager checked on us several times to make sure how our meal was and if we needed anything else. The restaurant itself was very clean. We certainly will be going back and taking our family and telling our friends how good it was.“

“I think Smithfield’s is highly underrated. Where else can you get the same quality food as fast and at this price point? It’s a tough find.

My girlfriend and I can split a Combo-dark and be FULL for $13.

The pork is solid. (Honestly better than a lot of the mom & pop bbq joints around these days charging double) The fried chicken is crispy and tender, the Brunswick stew is like a veggie with a bonus side of meat, and I love their old-school shoestring fries. The hush puppies are a little on the sweet side for my taste but they are consistent and well cooked.

Add to that the crazy good service and it’s a no-brainer. They bring refills to the table and take the plates when you are done. Real food, faster than McDonalds, with almost diner level service, still at fast food prices (or better depending on the fast food). What’s not to like?“

“If you're in love with brisket these guys have it down to an art form. Always tender and never dry, eat it once you'll be back for another try. If lamb chops are more for you, there's are so good they sell out constantly. Also, don't forget those delicious sides. Absolutely love everything everytime.“

“Really enjoyed the brisket nachos- solid flavor everytime. The quesadillas are huge! We also ordered the guac this time (usually go for the chips & queso) and while it tasted fresh it was missing the heat factor I’m used to. Be aware- there are no open restrooms! When we asked where we could wash hands/ change our baby’s diaper we were told to go across the street to the public park restrooms.“
