“We love Swains. We've been regulars for years. The service is great and friendly and the food is amazing. The new early bird specials are fantastic too. We really enjoy the seafood and the appetizers and I have had some of the best char broiled steaks I've ever had there. You have to try the peel and eat shrimp with the Florida seasoning. Don't even get me started on the amazing desserts. Swains is definitely one of the best restaurants in the area and we'll be back there soon. Tuesday we were there and I had a juicy and delicious tomahawk pork chop. It was fantastic. See you there!“

“The Break was a highlight meal on our recent visit to OKI. First of all, Gracie is the sweetest and best waitress! She never acts like she’s too busy, is attentive and polite… and personally brings you a little treat with your check. The food is SOOO good… you know if the owner is in the kitchen cooking, it’s a well-loved restaurant. For breakfast, I LOVE the yogurt with granola and berries… it feels healthy and DELICIOUS. For lunch, the jerk chicken wrap was AMAZING. Try the ginger soy dressing for your salad… just mouth-watering good. To top it all off- get a champagne drink with berries… cause, you’re at the beach! “Such a fun place to check out when visiting the area! The gelato flights are so much fun, and a very unique experience. There are plenty of wine and bear options, and the outdoor patio area is great to sit, hang out, and listen to live music.“

Before you leave, be sure to hit up their Sauce Bar to gather all the sauces and pickles and hots you need. Oh--and be sure to get a large banana pudding (or two) plus a medium cobbler of the day. “Walked a mile there and a mile back for the iced coffee and cheese danish! I walked the first day and got the butter rum iced coffee with the coffee cubes. Second time I walked got the brown sugar cinnamon with the cheese danish, the nice lady asked if I wanted it heated and drizzled with icing, so I did. It was good, but I prefer a room temp danish. Lovely little spot that hit the spot. Drank my coffee on my walk back. You order inside and then pick up outside.“
“This was such a fun spot to visit when I was out on the east coast to see my friend this summer. I am a big Nicholas Sparks junkie and the town of Southport is where many of his movies were filmed, or maybe specifically just Safe Haven. Either way, lots to see and so many fun picture moments. On this trip, I had my infant daughter with me and assumed that I wouldn't be allowed in with her as it's a bar. On the last night, we were picking up some seafood takeout for dinner at home and I thought I would at least ask what the protocol is. The guy at the front was so kind. He charged us the usual members fee of $1 to get in which is hysterical. And he said we could totally bring the baby. It's less of a bar and more of a place to grab a drink and sit out watching the water. The view is phenomenal. I ordered a well drink and it was tasty. The other drinks looked really sweet. But the beers and wines seemed decent. This place is a great stop for any Nick Sparks fan and they can serve you a decent drink with a stunning view of the water. Just go once - you will not regret it!“
“Stopped in here after shopping the streets and a great crab boil. Got a small praline soft serve. Was plenty big enough and very tasty. Creamy and perfect flavor. Employee was friendly. You order in one window pick up at another. Would come again for sure!“

“Food is great! There are so many good options for food, whether you want breakfast, lunch, dinner, or dessert! The breakfast burritos are amazing, and the lunch is great too. The menu is huge, with burritos, tacos, sandwiches, cheesesteaks, waffles, hot dogs, burgers, pizza bagels, etc. So much to get here, and everything is very good! Definitely check out the Scoop if you are in the Holden Beach area. Great staff as well, super friendly and helpful!“

“This spot recently had a change in ownership, and the new folks are lovely. Food is unchanged - still wonderful. Pizza is always good, salads are fresh, and service is great. Wouldn’t be mad at a wider wine selection though.. There’s a kids small cheese pizza that is perfectly sized and priced for a kiddo.“
“We stopped for iced coffees and they were delicious. I had the caramello leche and hubby had the mochaccino. We also shared a white chocolate raspberry scone. Delicious! Service was a bit slow as they only had two people working but they did a great job and handled it in stride. Drinks were worth the wait.“
