“How they keep return customers, I don't know. We keep trying to have a good experience but have been disappointed almost every time. Parking lot looks like an area trash point, service is slow, food is mediocre (which is OK for a beach bar, if it is consistently good, warm and tasty). We need good restaurants in Sunset Beach, this one has a looong way to go. The food trucks in the park across the street offer a better dining experience, which is sad.“

The staff are friendly and efficient and the food is excellent. Did you know you can get your hot dogs fried? I learned something new tonight and it was a great discovery. Can't wait until October gets here so I can enjoy more delicious food!“

The young lady running the crew was amazing. She was in constant contact with the two young men working with her and acknowledged just about every customer as they came in the door. To be honest it was the busiest we have seen it and we were in and out in the same amount of time we have been in the past with only one or two people in front of us, Today there were about twelve in front of us. “We stopped here after our dolphin watching cruise because it was close by and we were starving! Oh my goodness! I’m so glad we stopped. I had the BEST crab cake I have ever had. That’s saying a lot because I’m from Delaware and grew up on seafood. I’m very picky about crab cakes and don’t usually order them. But the description said Maryland style crab cakes so I took a chance. Best choice ever! They were amazing! My husband had the clam strips that was the special of the day and they were also amazing. So many he couldn’t eat them all. We shared a bowl of seafood bisque that was also delicious. Our waitress even split it into 2 bowls for us when we told her we were going to share. Food was served quickly and the staff was super friendly. I highly recommend stopping here!“

“We had the best time, great food and fun service! One of my best friends and I ate there, at the outdoor bar. We had a blast with the staff and the other patrons. We met a couple of four legged regulars….some very tame raccoons came up on the deck and added to our fun and laughter!“

“We have frequented The Dirty Armadillo for a while now. A few pros.... Great food, well priced alcohol, and everyone looks like they are having a good time. Cons... Music is way too loud, you have to literally scream to communicate. It's SO hot inside, I don't know if they even have AC running in there, but holy smokes I sweat to death every time.

This is a good 'stop' but not 'stay' location.“

It was delicious & included iced tea, cups, paper plates, napkins, utensils, bbq sauce, hush puppies, & even salt & pepper…….plus ice. I couldn’t have asked for better food & service…….it was ready at pick-up time & rolled out on a cart with help to load into my car. After we were seated our server, Riley took out drink order and reappeared quickly with water and our drinks. I have the captain’s platter and chose shrimp and clams and Anne ordered the shrimp and grits. Riley had warned us that it’s a large portion, but who knows what that really can be. Well, the food arrived promptly and the shrimp and grits truly was an enormous portion. Enough for two. Was creamy, cheesy, slammed full of shrimp, andouille and mushrooms. My shrimp and clams were lightly breaded and fried to perfection. Frankly, as busy as it was, I was surprised with the speed of service and the quality of the food. Absolutely recommend this place!“

I like their sauces over what I typically find at the local chains in the area. It's not fine cuisine but it's fast, friendly, and inexpensive. There's a few tables but most people are in a line that bisects the tables to get their orders.“
